What's fascinating to me is that this prediction of a blue wave have certainly proved to be tall tales. We had Nancy declaring that the House Dems would pick up seats, and instead it appears the Repubs are going to gain seats. Schumer and company (and all the polls) were predicting that the Senate was lost. Well. sorry again. They may gain 1 seat at the end of the day. And then of course, pretty much every poll and every strategist was predicting a significant Biden victory. And instead, the race is neck and neck. I give Biden the edge because of Wisconsin and probably Michigan, but not by much. It's going to be razor thin.

Long and the short of it is all of the pollsters and pundits have been wrong yet again. Even if Biden wins, he does not have the mandate to make the wholesale changes his handlers desire. He's not going to have full support of Congress, and there will be significant blow back for the Dems if they try to ram things through by executive order. So, I suspect his Green New Deal as written and the court packing are now out the window. So there is a significant silver lining if Trump loses. Things are not nearly as dire as predicted. And despite the prognostications by our resident leftists, the state of the Republican Party despite Trump is still strong.

I told my brother when he was touting the polls that I didn't think there'd be a landslide either way because the country was too evenly divided. This election would definitely support that.

I think the results of this election (presidential and congressional) could be a good thing if Biden and the Democrats can take a conciliatory tone and recognize that this election is not the referendum on Trump they believed it would be.

This country is deeply divided, and it's time for leaders in both parties to do their part to mend it.
Agreed,
I wish it would happen but I really dont think that Pelosi, Schumer or McConnell have the balls to stand up to the AOC group or the far right and work together. It will take others to stand up and take over leadership to work together. I wish that they could find new leadership in both parties to work together but until it happens, people like us(average Americans) are just screwed and given the cold shoulder.
You may be right, but with Trump no longer in the WH stoking the flames, perhaps they will come to their senses. It just all depends on whether TDS has lasting effects, or whether the effects will wear off and some sense of normalcy will return.
They didnt get along for 8 years under Obama.

Wisconsin dumped 138,000 votes during the night into the system and almost 135,000 went for Biden. This is not possible. Put someone in jail then this will change.
No one is going to jail.

Soon it will be online 'voting' .

Better still we will get 4 years of gridlock; best possible scenario for the country.

It would be four years of the media blaming the Republican senate for everything... just like it always is. They will NEVER hold Democrats accountable if their is a Republican scapegoat they can use to manipulate all the f***ing idiots in this country.

At this point they are trying to rob the silent majority and install a 47 year career politician back in office to continue scamming and selling out the American people.

This opinion might hold more weight of McConnell didn't openly brag about being a roadblock.

The Democrats have their own *******s (Pelosi and Schumer, I'm looking at you), but you guys have to own McConnell and the significant role he's played in creating our toxic political environment.
I don't like McConnell or any other swamp neocons just as much as you.

True, but Obama was a strong candidate who had a mandate based on election results. Biden is a weak candidate, and there is no resounding victory.

Again, I do not discount the possibility you are right, and Nancy and Chuck are the bitter partisans yet again. But I just have a feeling based on the way last night went that this is not going to be like it was under Obama.

The toxic environment is a not a matter of dysfunctional personalities or hyper-partisanship. It's a direct result of Democrats embracing critical theories and identity politics. When one chooses dialectics predicated on conflict, one should not be surprised to get more conflict.

We will not fix the toxic politics until we start romancing unum instead of pluribus.

I think most have owned McConnell for what he is but the truth of the matter is that Schumer and Pelosi have publicly stated they wont ever forget what Republicans did on one matter or another that they didnt agree with. Pelosi and Chuck have said they wont negotiate or back down on anything. That shows their unwillingness to move forward as well. You and other Dems have to own that.

It's a tit for tat that both parties have participated in and contributed to, no question. But until both sides condemn the bad-actors on their own side as harshly as they do their adversaries, we'll never make the progress we need to.

And I'm not a Democrat. I hate both parties, so I have no problem whatsoever calling out Pelosi and Schumer for the harm they've caused to our political process. In fact, I did in the post you quoted.

That's literally never how it has worked.
But it probably is how it should work, the exception being Americans living abroad whose vote should certainly count regardless of how long it takes the APO system to deliver it. For everyone else there is no reason we shouldnt simply have voting week with one day being a national holiday so everyone who wants to has the opportunity to vote.

There is really no reason we need to count votes for a week or two or three or however long. FFS this is 2020, I can order a package from Amazon and have it to my house, usually the same day if not the next, there is no reason we cant find a way to vote that doesnt incur 2 hour lines and requires 3 days of counting paper ballots.

And yet Trump was the one blocking the early counting of mail in ballots:
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/522566-trump-campaign-asks-court-to-block-early-vote-counting-in-nevada
I dont care who did it. This is an issue we should all be able to agree upon. Elections dont need to drag out for days. I believe voting should be done in person, with identification and Im not sure why that is so controversial, however, I dont much care what the method it doesnt need to take a month to figure this out. Early voting, vote by mail, in person...whatever, there's just no reason in 2020 this takes so much time and energy.

Im very much over all of the drama and conspiracy theories.

I just told someone this same thing. The guy in the office has never changed my life at all. I have preferences which include the leadership of the Senate and House to be from the opposing party but, ultimately, whether Carter or Reagan or Bush or Clinton or Obama or Trump or [insert winner here] my daily life is unlikely to change much.

As a side, The White House Legislative Affairs office is heavily involved with driving legislation in the House and Senate. The White House is often involved with drafting legislation language.

The White House also works with their party Whip to drive exactly what the name implies. White House Leg Affairs has material power.

Sounds like a recount will happen in Mich and Wisc but that may not overcome the magic 200,000 and 138,000 ballots found last night , all mail in, something smells. If there legit, so be it, but it smells from here.

These weren't state-wide votes, they were from heavily blue populated areas. Also they're not 100% anyone.

And a lot of it is counting mail in ballots, which Dems voted through much more than Repubs.

I think we'll get into a situation where Biden wins, and a bunch of Trump supporters, and Trump himself, try to say the election was illegitimate. It will be sad, but both sides have sown a seed of doubt on our election process, so it's not surprising.

Again, where are y'all actually seeing that? I saw about 169,000 that came back 85% for Biden, as would be expected based on what those ballots were.
OK, so please explain that one to me. How do you see 85% Biden anywhere in any Michigan county?

This smells like LBJ-level fraud.

Sounds like a recount will happen in Mich and Wisc but that may not overcome the magic 200,000 and 138,000 ballots found last night , all mail in, something smells. If there legit, so be it, but it smells from here.
It's statistically impossible that they're 100% for Biden.
Even if they were 85ish percent for Biden, which was the prevailing vote for the county, Biden would still have taken the lead from those ballots.

Throw in another $80mm plus for MJ Fatass, with an additional 10% margin.

Why is it necessary to insult Hegar's appearance to make a political point?
