Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua Returns as Bears Route Raiders 89-62

WACO, Texas — The No. 11 Baylor Bears (17-6, 6-4) thoroughly beat the visiting Texas Tech Red Raiders (12-11, 1-9) by a 27-point margin, 89-62.

The final score was not the biggest takeaway of the day, however, with Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua triumphantly returning from a devastating knee injury just under a year ago on the very same court.

Everyday Jon netted eight points in 14 minutes on 3-for-4 shooting, including two threes.

The Bears were led in scoring by Jalen Bridges who rode a 16-point second half to top teammates Keyonte George and Adam Flagler who had 17 and 13 respectively.

The first half was much tighter than the final score shows, with neither team taking more than an eight-point advantage.

The loudest moments of the half were when Tchamwa Tchatchoua entered the game at the 13:05 mark and when he hit his first bucket, a three, to make it 36-30 with 2:02 left in the period.

The Bears gave up a 4-0 run to end the half, taking a 38-34 lead into the locker room.

That was the last real push Tech would make on the day. Baylor went on to outscore the Red Raiders 51-28 in the second period.

The kill shot came in the form of an 11-0 run started with back-to-back buckets by Everyday Jon and ended with Langston Love and Jalen Bridges threes.

With that, the Bears broke the visitors and eased to the finish with final shooting numbers at 54% from the field and 42% from deep. A nice rebound from the rough shooting performances of late.

The Bears also assisted on 26 of their 35 made baskets and limited Tech to just three offensive boards.

Up next for the Bears will be a matchup with Oklahoma in Waco on Wednesday at 8 PM (ESPN U).

Welcome back, John! This team just got a lot better. I only wish we could've won the Texas game and finished the first half of conference play in a 6-way tie for first. Would've made winning the conference a definite possibility. It'll be harder now but with all cylinders back in place, I like our chances.
