WACO, Texas — The No. 9 Baylor Bears (7-0) made light work of the Nicholls Colonels (3-5) Tuesday Night in the Ferrell Center, winning 108-70 to maintain their undefeated start to the season.

Langston Love went unconscious from deep in the second half to lead the Bears with a career-high 23 points. He finished the night 5-for-7 on triples.

RayJ Dennis, Jayden Nunn and Caleb Lohner all joined Love in double-figure scoring with 14, 13 and 12 respectively.

Early on, the zone defense of the Colonels was giving the Bears some problems. Baylor was up by just two points about halfway through the half thanks to a bunch of miss shots in and around the paint.

A quick 8-0 run capped by Lohner and Nunn going back-to-back with threes created distance that the visitors would never close.

The green and gold proceeded to build a 25-point halftime lead and go 5-for-11 from downtown in the period.

Yves Missi did some good work in the lane grabbing five boards and scoring seven.

The second half was the Love and Lohner show though.

When the guard weren’t finding teammates like Lohner for alley-oop slams, Love was bombing away from deep.

The redshirt sophomore guard — who has been nagged by injuries over his three years in Waco — hit five second half triples.

His teammates on the bench, the place that Love starts most every game, went crazier after each make.

When asked about settling into the sixth man role, Love said, “I’m not out there playing for myself… I have settled into this role [coming off the bench].”

Lohner immediately added that he thought Langston’s attitude and approach to the game through the injuries has been exemplary.

The second half lead never dipped below 24 and the Bears smiled and scored their way to the final scoreline of 108-70.

Not to be forgotten, Dennis racked up 10 of Baylor’s 25 assists on the night to give him a double-double.

Also, with every Bear that played scoring, Scott Drew’s squad racked up 62 bench points.

Now the Bears turn their attention to Saturday’s contest against the Demons of Northwestern State. That game tips off at 5pm in the Ferrell Center and will be available on ESPN+.
