7 days later and this is still the only thing I think can save us.

And I dont mean in the next couple of years or even decade(s)... with conference realignment evolving so rapidly, this is the worst time possible to suck. If we are a power over the next decade, we'll be with the 'haves' in whatever the next phase of college football is.

But what we're living through right now is akin to SMU's Death Penalty. They never recovered. We wont either if we miss the next phase.

But hey, as long as the Austin media says nice things about us, right?

I'm not doing this again. I dont have enough years left in life.

He would have a difficult time getting quality staff or top recruits. Not fair what happened to him but that is the way it is. With his current reputation would be very difficult to build a program.

Then go get Lebby, KB, Bennet, Montgomery and Kaz. They don't seem to have problems recruiting at their respective schools these days.

Coach Prime and Colorado are garnering all the present publicity. They would have to move over if Briles was ever rehired at Baylor.

Isn't the consensus on this board that it would be undesirable to hire a coach that wasn't a sitting, successful head coach? Many narratives here are that Baylor should avoid coordinator hires due to inexperience not in being an HC and in developing a staff. Separately and down that narrative, those from the Briles' tree haven't had the most success as HC's, with the only one worth noting being Dino.

Seriously disgusting that after everything we, as a fanbase, have been through because of Briles, some people would still welcome him back with open arms because they think it might win us a few more games of Football

Briles didnt care about what his players were doing, he had a duty of care that he just completely disregarded, but lets set aside his repugnant morals and his lip service to Christianity (some of you have done that anyway) and look at it from a purely Football point of view:

His Offence might have been cutting edge at the time, but Football has moved on and lets not forget, whilst his brand of Football was certainly exciting, in arguably the 2 biggest games of his tenure (the Cotton Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl) Briles chunked it through bad preparation and game management. Briles has been out of College Football for nearly 10 years and will be severely out of touch with the game, many coaching staff he might want to hire wont want to work with him and many players he might want to recruit wont want to come play for him because of his richly deserved reputation of being a morally bankrupt *******.

So yeah, stfu about Briles coming back here because even the most ardent Briles fanboi knows with 100% certainty that it will NEVER, EVER happen and nor should it. Utterly disgusted that fans of a supposedly Christian school would even contemplate wanting someone as morally bankrupt as him ever associated with the University again.

I believe the complete opposite to be true re your first statement. I've seen or heard nothing among the coaching profession that would lead an objective observer to conclude there's meaningful disrespect among coaches across all levels of the sport. OUT were relieved when he left the Big 12 scene, and that's enough said.

No. A school at Baylors level will get someone from a small school or a retread. We are not going to get a top prospect over the B10 or SEC now.

Perhaps if Briles had shown one iota of contrition or regret for the pain he had helped inflict on others, then you might have a point, but if you gave someone a second chance after they had shown no sign of accepting their mistake, changing their ways or even just basic empathy for the people who had been hurt by their (in) action, thats not forgiveness, thats plain stupidity and Baylor would be rightly pilloried for even contemplating re-hiring him.

it was institutional, Baylor as a University was rotten, Briles was just a part of that, he wasnt the sole architect of it, it wasnt just the Football team, but the Football team and Briles were a significant part of it.

He's entitled to his opinion of not wanting Briles back, but it is annoying when people fail to understand nuance and impose their interpretation of events as though it's the only conclusion that a reasonable, moral person can arrive at. You either agree with him or you're a pathetic excuse for a human being.

No chance it's going to happen, but if it did Baylor would lose about 10 percent of it's game crowd.

And would bring back about 35 percent of it's former game crowd.

I'm still pulling for Aranda to turn things around, but I think it's absurd for people to rant that Briles has no heart and that he didn't care when people got hurt. The facts at hand as well as the way he has lived his life show that he is not that kind of man.. I think the treatment and judgment he has received from some is an outrage. What happened at Baylor was awful, but Briles is not the monster his detractors want us to believe he is.

If you care to research it there is a world of information that has been developed and is available. I think the vast majority of those who have looked is that Briles was scapegoated to cover major institutional issues. Some, like cms, continue the shameless defamation of Briles. I don't know why. Fortunately, nuts like him are a very small minority. Unfortunately, they are able to maintain a flicker of hate which they can raise when an opportunity arises.
