Great stuff....thanks.

As I have been told, Carroll Field was north of what we called Carroll Science Building. I think the field was about where the Student Union Building is now located.

This is the old entrance

To this day I wish they would have kept the stadium there and just built it up.

By today it would look like Notre Dame...with the stadium right in the middle of campus

Because this was LONG ago, most of the younger Baylor fans don't really know how great this man was as both a player , coach and man. THE BEST !

In 1952, $6.25 was a high priced football ticket (even for a bowl game).

[The 3.51% inflation rate means $7 in 1952 is equivalent to $81.30 today]

Does not seem that bad.

I just recall that when I attended my first college football game in person in 1966, which was Baylor - UT in Waco, reserved seats were $5.00. I also attended the NFL Championship game between the Cowboys and Packers in the Cotton Bowl (the year before the famous "ice bowl") off of the 1966 season and reserved seats were $10 each.

And we're talking about 14-15 years after the 1952 Orange Bowl.

Could our current group beat any of those teams....at least the ones beginning with Ronnie Bull's time?

Yes, but it might be a struggle.
Yes they would soundly beat those teams now. Most of the living players from those teams are in their 80s now!

Yes, it was basically right behind Carroll Science. It stretched along 5th street from Carroll Science to where the Bear habitat currently is (Waco Creek). The entrance was on 5th street close to Carroll Science.

Larry Isbell, courtesy Paps, looks like a 1951 drawing. He was one of the rare players to be All-American in both baseball and in football. He was an All-American quarterback in 1951, when he guided the Baylor Bears football team to the Orange Bowl; he threw for 26 career touchdowns in college. (copy courtesy Wiki)
