Praying for Brittney
@CathyEngelbert added that @brittneygriner recently wrote her a, “heartfelt, handwritten letter,” and at the end of the letter, BG said, “I’m staying strong..” #WNBATwitter #WNBAPlayoffs #WNBAFinals @WNBA @ABC @ESPNPR @ESPN_WomenHoop @PhoenixMercury #WeAreBG https://t.co/dlSAIuFLQL

Wife and I were recently in Cancun on vacation and met 2 wnba players that were vacationing there who also have played overseas. I asked them what they thought about Griners situation and they said they know it's political and bull****, but also that all the players know to be very careful overseas...especially in Russia. FWIW they said Griner is arrogant and didn't think the rules or laws apply

I read an article about Putin being in a compromised position with the Russian leaders because of the Ukraine war. BG got into trouble in Russia at a most difficult time for negotiations to proceed.
That is a good point. I was thinking that the timing was bad for negotiations with Russia to get a prisoner released. It is usually never a good thing to smuggle contraband into a foreign country.Mothballs said:Guy Noir said:

Is there ever a good time to smuggle contraband into a foreign country? Asking for a friend
No one on Team USA wears No. 15 other than two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Brittney Griner.

USA Basketball will honor BG as they take the court in Sydney at the World Cup. No. 15 will stay reserved until BG is back home. #WeAreBG pic.twitter.com/S7ud0jX3Mi

I'd be interested in who besides the US and Russia have the capability.Mothballs said:
Putin is probably urinated about the destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline. I wouldn't expect him to negotiate with anyone about anything until he finds out who did it. God help Brittney if the United States was involved.

"Jailed American basketball star Brittney Griner will formally appeal her conviction and sentencing on drug smuggling charges in Russia on Tuesday ... Griner will observe Tuesday's Moscow court hearing by video feed from the women's detention center where she is being held outside the Russian capital.
According to a statement released by Griner's legal team, the judge's verdict on her appeal is expected the same day with Griner holding out hope for a reduction in her prison term.
'Brittney does not expect any miracles to happen but hopes that the appeal court will hear the arguments of the defense and reduce the term,' read the statement."

UK (who Russia has accused)
France
Germany
All of the Nordic States
There are more.
None of the States on the list did it. Russia did it.
Sticking Together.
