i also saw we are following Heckle from USC she was a quick guard i want to say 5'9 is what she was listed. She was better than the starter most times when i watched.

Heckle is a very good point guard who can also score.

Played against tough competition through high school as well at Long Island Lutheran (same program where VJ payed his senior season in HS.)

i'm not sure of the recruit but we are going after that currently goes there pretty hard so maybe if we have a relationship with that staff they will get us in the door for conversations.

I think we're probably priced out of the Heckel sweepstakes. I guess it depends if our other targets fall through

She's from Flower Mound; she may want to stay in Texas. Oldacre is the only other current big at 6'6" with Jones out of eligibility; or must have good lead coming in through portal.

If I was CNC I'd go after Boutilier. You can't teach 6'9. Quite frankly she could be painfully average and still be a difference maker. Her size alone will alter tons of shots.

In her announcement post, she says has 4 years of eligibility left. Apparently she had a medical RS year; saw mention in other post about injury.

Time to develop for sure. Definitely worth a look. In the girls game you see players panic easier when playing against elite level height. Tends to lead to poor shots being taken or hesitation due to fear of shots being blocked

Here's some info on Boutilier:
"Boutilier holds the distinction of being the tallest player in the NCAA this year at 6-foot-9. The Flower Mound, Texas native missed her true freshman season in 2023-24 at Texas due to injury and has spent the entirety of her collegiate career as a project player.

During her high school career at Flower Mound High, Boutilier averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds, before signing with Texas as part of the 2023 class."

She was a 3-star recruit and not ranked in top 100. Strange she only avg 7 points and 4 rebounds at 6'9" in HS? She probably looked intimidating in HS and would have towered over everyone.

Watched her play a few years ago with maddie cox. Very tall, but seemed awkward at everything she did.

Odd why Vic took her. Perhaps he saw potential, took her on as a project. Can she at least block?

I wish we would look at the Mississippi State Center, but she is probably SEC.

She's gonna be expensive. But hopefully the staff is reaching out. You never know until you ask

Wow....I'm nervous now. Ugh I hate Tcu. They have one good season and now the sky is wide open for them. I really want buggs and bella to win a big 12 title before they leave but man... if nicki can't put the right roster together they will leave empty handed.

We need a decent big and one more guard.

We're going to need her size and athleticism. I hope we step up

We need a real point guard because we don't want to rely on 2 rehabbing players, particularly at the beginning of the season.
Maybe we can get Yuting Deng. I think she will be very good and she has excellent size and a respectablethree-point game.

Agree, totally about TCU and Texas. One good season and their profile goes up dramatically. We really need to do the same and make it to at least elite 8.

jalyn brown from ASU would be a GREATTTT get for what we need a big guard that can score. I really hope we can get her a pg and a starting center. and then maybe one more guard off the bench.

Yep, can't stand the frogs. I'm trying to keep some perspective…I think tcu would love to have the two we have also…and ours have multiple years. Not sure on their two. I expect Nicki to get more quality where we need it.
Sent a donation…need to pass the plate for the program. Top players aren't cheap.

Totally agree. At the least she could get time early. Has 3? or 4? remaining.

4 I believe. She's probably incredibly raw, uncoordinated and honestly not good. But that's where development comes into play. She's a project type. Would like to see CNC take a flyer on her if her price tag is cheap. Like I said can't coach 6'9 and if she's just average as a player she would be a huge asset.

She pretty much went in games to rest starters and foul. Never appeared to get in shape. When Wolfenbarger came in from Ark, her already limited court time went down. She was in the #1 recruiting class 2 years ago; the only one remaining is Mikaylah Williams if Del Rosario leaves. Maybe with the right coach she could succeed.

Like Lety. Had such high hopes for 6'7", but she never overcame the deer in the headlights look and poor ball handling. I think she had a good shot at playing more at Illinois, but wrecked her knee during summer workouts and took medical RS.

C Rosario was never able to click and get it going for 2 years at LSU. She ended up being similar to a "project" player. She had some of the best coaching staff who developed AA centers and posts, they spent ton of time teaching her, training her, get her to the next level as starter, but it never happened. She learned from AA Reese and AA Morrow. She got buried on the bench. She did have couple injuries, but not serious enough to play significant role. She had problems losing weight, even with the help of trainer and nutritionist. She is not an aggressive, physical player. Teammates considered her sweet, gentle, and big teddy bear. Since she has 2 years left, she will probably do well on a team not playing against speed and physicality of SEC.

Baylor should never recruit solely due to height.

When Taylor from Texas (6'4) and Brown from Kansas (6'5) arrived at Oregon State they immediately (as freshmen) started almost every game over four juniors & seniors who were 6'7 to 6'9. Those taller and more experienced players rarely saw the court. And that was on a team with the slowest pace of play in D1. Height does not equal talent or results.

Baylor tries to space the floor and play fast. Mobility is mandatory.

With the current status of the game, I can't help but look at bringing in a "development" player as a complete waste. More likely than not, we would spend one year investing in her future, after which she would promptly enter the transfer portal to find greener pastures.

I wish that wasn't the way I viewed it. I hate that this is where we are.

I agree. It has got to take a special kind of person (or possibly a self-described "nut") to be a high-level college coach now. Hard to see how they can live without tremendous stress with the way rosters go now a days and to a large extent they have to fight against things they can't always control. And it is a waste of time for fans to project anything past the next year....if even that, because there is legitimate expectation that the players they think will be there, won't.

This is just nuts that a professional team and league have more security and control on who will be on their roster than a college level team that is suppose to be for "student-athletes".

The crazier the situation gets the more likely it is that enough people are pissed forcing government action. Will be funny when the standard loops back to no pay/small stipend. The current insanity is simply unsustainable.
