We were one of Camille's first offers. We are going to have to win more but even more importantly to get top players we definitely need get to 2nd weekend and if possible E8. If we could do that I think we can recruit more successfully at expected levels. Until then, I fear we will watch others load up. Pressures on!

Winning would help wonders. And I agree, playing in the second weekend is needed to attract top talent.

Had to add to get of Comment 666...sorry bawithaball...if slim pickings now, perhaps might pick up some players from coaching change. Don't they have a bit longer to enter the portal?

As of today April 24:
2,570 entered the transfer portal.
532 committed.
2,038 still uncommitted.

Coach N should be able to find at least 1 good player from the portal.

Yes. There are still some good players in the portal.

and with a population of 745,000,000 Europe should have a handful of quality prospects to mine.

Yes, there are good international players in Europe, Australia, Asia, Caribbean, S.America. But Coach N needs 1-2 players right now for 2026. It normally takes a long time to petition for student Visa, anywhere between 2-6 months wait time. But if player is top 10 recruit, wait time can be shorter.

Baylor to Cruz to Rubio to worker bees…….you might be amazed at the fast tracking ability.

Sounds like she wants really badly to show the staff how much of a mistake she thinks it was to not play her.

Yet the only way is to play better defense. She isn't a good defender. When she can't make shots it is hard to play her. I wouldn't think that Yuting starts.

And when they play Baylor and Deng is on her favored left wing, we sit on her right hand making her go left to the baseline but Crooks has totally clogged the lane.

but (as pointed out) the real fun for OSU will be trying to hide both Deng and Crooks on D.
maybe OSU can brand themselves as the We Don't Timely (or at all) Rotate on D team.

She is also hesitant to go to basketball and take contact . She likes to shoot from afar. Like you said if shots not falling she can't help on defense. And her shots were not falling in many games. But best of luck to her.

She's definitely better than advertised at getting to the rack on offense. Check her Auburn highlights. As far as her shots not falling, she was definitely one of the best offensive players on the team. I strongly believe her confidence plummeted once her minutes and usage evaporated. Yes, her defense needs help, but that's what coaches are paid to do. She should've been on the floor when the opposing team had the least of their offensive threats on the floor to lessen her defensive burden but boost our offensive ability. I wouldn't make the assumption that her defense will continue to be as weak as what people have been vocal about. She'll be motivated with a fresh start and points to prove. To win you've got to play using all the cards that you were dealt and to their advantage. We failed to do that with her.

The thing with Deng……not having the athletic ability to make certain plays on D is one thing, not knowing your defensive rotational assignments is another.
CyBearSecurity

She looks pretty solid to me. There's no one, except Tianna, on the team that bests her 37% from three. These highlights show her athleticism offensively and defensively, defense ability and playmaking, along with her ability to penetrate to the rack and drop dimes along the way. This link shows almost 10 minutes of what SEC talent we threw away and failed at leveraging. She's far better than advertised.

It will be interesting to see what she does at OSU.

She'll likely be a 6th man assassin, in my opinion.

OSU's roster is very confusing.

Crooks….great on O, horrid on D.
McGill…..great on D, solid on assists, can't shoot
And a collection of five to six 5'11 to 6'1 wing players who are decent shooters but not a ton of defense.

The Baylor v ISU game comes to mind. Sag off PG, stay on perimeter shooters, double from
PG to post, make PG beat you with jumpshots. Last year McGill shot 43% from field, 26.4% from 3.

OSU might turn out to be a great O team and rebound well……but will they be able to defend anyone?

They are going to play the "we'll score more points than you" game, and that rarely turns out well.

The B12 is garbage. Okie St will do well

Tell that to Lsu, South Carolina, Uconn, Ucla, Texas. High octane, high scoring games. It hasn't turned out well for them.

Exactly!

Is defense needed? Yes, but I've never seen a scoreboard displaying the number of defensive stops on it. The name of the game is who can score the most points by the end of the 4th quarter, by any means.

Three of those five teams are unquestionably D first teams (Texas, LSU & SC).
They aim to be elite on D and have enough O.
To the extent they achieve high octane scoring it is transitional from solid D.

If you want an example for your point the other two fit.
Elite O and sufficient D.

But any Simply Outscore the Opponent & Forget D concept has been hugely disproven by CSD and Baylor MBB the past few seasons.

Give Okie State credit they got 2-3 of the top scorers in the country. They will be a better team this season. Agree they will not win the NC, but they will be one of the better teams in the Big12. They will give a lot of teams trouble.

With their current roster I see their high side being 2025/2026 OSU (4th) and 2025/2026 ISU (7th). Teams routinely hide one poor defender, can't hide two against good teams, and no one can hide three. How they finish really depends on the improvement of the Tech, Arizona State, and BYU's of the league. The bottom half is bad. But that 3-8 range can fall any number of ways.

Are you trying to say that LSU, South Carolina, UCONN, UCLA, and Texas don't play defense? That is what you seem to infer. They score a ton of points because of their offense. They often win by 50 because they have great defense. If they played terrible defense, they'd all have a lot more loses. Hell, the schools you named pretty much play the best team defense in the country.
