Great 1st round of the year, maybe its a harbinger of things to come this year.
Jimmy had a clean round with 8 birdies, incl. 3 of the 4 par 5s (hit green in two & 2 putted for birdie). His putter was pretty good today also as he made 3 birdie putts between 16 to 25 feet.

The morning groups are not making much noise.

Only one player has pushed the lead past eight under. Not sure if the conditions are worse today or what. Daffue has the lead at -11 through 12 holes.

Things are setting up nicely if Jimmy can have another good round today.

One of the hardest things to do in golf is follow a really low round with another good round. I figured Jimmy would struggle today after yesterday's 64; getting back to Even for the day would be success at this point.

Jimmy's putter was cold today, other than the eagle putt he made on #3. He missed several birdie chances from 8-15 ft which would have really changed his round. Tied at 45th currently at -4.

Shriners Hospital for Children Open this week, TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas. Jimmy is in the field, afternoon tee time on Thurs, & morning on Friday; paired with JT Poston and Matt Kuchar.
The past 10 years at this course the cut has avg 2 or 3 under par, so scoring is usually tough.

Jimmy was having a decent opening round thru 14 holes sitting at -2. Then an ugly double bogey on the par 5 16th and he finished at Even (T123rd). On 16 he was in the fairway inside 90 yds after 2 shots but then rinsed his next shot in the pond. (I hate when that happens) . Drop, wedge #5 on the green, 2 putt for double. I think the cut will be about -4 so Jimmy's gonna have to go some tomorrow.

He seems to be feast or famine in his rounds lately. He will get some birdies going and then end up with a double or triple bogey.

He just birdied #3 to go -1 early in his second round. Hope he can take it low today.

Jimmy rinsed another ball, this time on the par 3 7th, but managed to save bogey. He's back to -1 thru 10 holes, cut still at -4. He really needs to start stacking up some birdies or he'll be done.

Houston Open this week at Memorial Park GC; a classic old municipal course that has just been renovated the past few years. Jimmy is in the field, paired with Brandt Snedeker and Greg Chalmers. Thursday tee time about noon, 7:30 morning on Friday.
Really looking forward to this event. Memorial Park (which i've played 2-3 times) is really supposed to look great after the redo.
