Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week with a few changes. 1st, there will be no amateurs, so its really just the Pebble Beach Pro this year. 2nd, they dropped Monterrey Peni sula CC, so only 2 courses this year - Pebble Beach & Spyglass Hill. Jimmy starts at Spyglass tomorrow and will play Pebble on Friday.
Here are Jimmy's finishes at PB since 2014. It's obviously a track that suits his eye when he's in form. He comes in with 300:1 odds.

The final winning score at PB is usually around -18 or -19....but I just read that since amateurs aren't in the Pro-am this year that they have made the tee boxes and pins more difficult. So may not see the scores as low as usual.

He's in 98th place at +1 and the leader is out of sight at -10. Yikes.

The majority of the top of the leaderboard played PB today. JW was on Spyglass today. Hopefully he can get it in gear tomorrow.....but he has a steep hill to climb
My guess is the cut will be -2 or -3; a solid 69 or better and he should be playing the weekend.

Thru 12 holes Jimmy has 11 pars & 1 bogey. He's +2 overall with the cut sitting at -1, needs at least 3 birdies over the final 6 holes.
JW gets 3 birdies in his last 4 holes....but too little too late. He misses the cut by one stroke.
Yeah, he threw a bogey in there on his 13th (missed 3.5 foot putt for par) or he would've made it on the number. Painful.

Not a good start; +5 thru 15 holes (out of 120 in the field he's beating 3 guys). Leader at -7

Finished round 1 with 38/40 = 78 (+7); tied 118th out of 120, 14 shots behind the leader who shot 64.
My uneducated guess - Even if Jimmy matches that -7 (64) in the 2nd round & posts 2 rounds at Even par, he will miss the cut. I think the cut will be -1 at least.

The Players Championship this week, TPC Sawgrass in FL; Jimmy is in the field
He has some really good results here (2018 - T2nd, 2014 - T6th, 2013 - T15th) while his other finishes are mediocre to missed cuts. Last years Players was right at the beginning of the Covid outbreak and i believe they played the 1st round and then cancelled the event and sent everyone home.

Yep....Jimmy had a nice start last year before it got shut down. He shot -3 in the first round. The leader was Matsayuma who had a sizzling -9 on the opening day.
I read recently that current form seems to be a big predictor of the Players winner.
Of the last 10 winners all of them had placed 22nd or higher in the tournament they played before the Players.
