The only people who don't favor voter ID are the ones that want to cheat or benefit from the cheating.

The only individuals against the use of voter ID and paper ballots are those who favor election fraud.

Hopefully he can do something about the length of time too. California took at least two seats extra in the House by simply calling folks that hadn't voted yet and sending them to vote Democrat for several weeks until they got the folks in that they wanted. At the end of the first week, these House seats were Red.

Seth Moulton (D-Massachusetts) is a US Congressman.

And there's the difference. Mr. Obama's objective was to leave the compliant and fearful. Mr. Trump's is to leave the bare-knuckled warfighters. Your Grant, Sherman, Eisenhower, Halsey and Patton types.

This won't help US autoworkers, but it will continue to spike US auto costs impacting everything from direct consumers to fleets.

Fascinated at this fixation on auto manufacturing. Less than a million people work in car and parts manufacturing. Meanwhile, the defense industry employs more, is primarily manufactured in the U.S., is one of our few net exporter industries, and he wants to cut the defense budget significantly. If there's a larger plan here, it's hard to see.

Living in a state where many are employed in the Auto industry (My business is like 6 miles from what used to be GM Lordstown, I drive by it basically every day) it would be nice to feel like there is some plan. Right now I'm sure not convinced.

Correct, it is an absolutely an act of vengeance and I love it!

They tried to kill this man yet they are still somehow surprised

It's also an ugly building the US probably has little use for and named for an incredibly evil & corrupt individual.

The only reason anyone would oppose measures to make sure our votes & elections are secure are people who plan to steal elections. Considering the fascist record on that score going back 100 years, naturally they will oppose what the American people want.

That's how protectionist tariffs usually work. They often don't work out so well in the long run.

Except the current domestic lineup is absolute trash.

Cars aren't widgets where the only difference is where it was made and the quality of the materials it was made with.

Mercedes builds in Alabama, Ford in Mexico.

Complex issues often require complex solutions and, at the moment, we are caught up in trying to solve complex problems with simple solutions which works just this side of never.

Except it's not complicated. Cars produced here will be cheaper relative to imports. More Americans will purchase the cars made here. And those consumers that feel that they won't buy a domestic produced car will help increase our tariff tax revenue. Again, it's not complicated.

What high-speed rail system?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_High-Speed_Rail

Quote:

California High-Speed Rail (CAHSR) is a publicly funded high-speed rail system being developed in California by the California High-Speed Rail Authority. Phase 1, about 494 miles (795 km) long, is planned to run from San Francisco to Los Angeles and Anaheim via the Central Valley, and is partially funded and under construction. A proposed Phase 2 would extend the system north to Sacramento and south to San Diego, for a total of 776 miles (1,249 km). The project was authorized by a 2008 statewide ballot to connect the state's major urban areas and reduce intercity travel times. Phase 1 targets a nonstop travel time of 2 hours and 40 minutes from San Francisco to Los Angeles, compared to about nine hours[6] on the existing Amtrak San Joaquins. California legislative overseers do not expect the 2 hr 40 min target will be achieved.

Sure, and hear me out ... a healthy blue collar work force and their communities will have more well paying jobs and will buy more cars.

Or…people don't buy either car, so those domestics are forced to scale back (did you not see the part where I'm right around the corner from Lordstown? I'm also awfully close to Ford's Cleveland facility and Walton Hills stamping plant…all 3 of which are closed).

This utopia where people buy a small Ford instead of a KIA is myth, for one Ford doesn't even make a small sedan any longer and if they did it wouldn't be made here but in Mexico.

Look the best possible thing for me a massive tariff on Chinese tools. It would be HUGE for my business.

But this concept that people will just buy A instead of B doesn't much work with cars that are sourced and produced globally, even the domestics.

So, again, define Domestic manufacturing for an automobile for me? I've already told you Ford doesn't work because a good chunk of their production is in Mexico. Are we adding a tariff to Mexican Ford production but not US Ford Production?

Yeah and the balloning defense industry is totally unnatural... it isn't the result of true capitalism... it is the result of crony capitalism... MIC lobbyists working with politicians to spend money we don't have to grow our national debt so they can receive more politically motivated defense contracts.

When big government and private business merge into this abomination of crony capitalism... the tax payer always ends up suffering.

I work in healthcare and you say the same thing about Medicare and the PBMs... but those contracts are a fraction of what the pentagon spends.

Only in Trump world do we scream hiring and firing should only be based on merit.

And we have a job that requires a 4 star general. So, we have an unqualified defense secretary fire the 4 star and replace him with a 3 star (retired).
