I read somewhere that's they're building a national database that can be used help ban firearms. Many red state governors have already shared our information. Just gotta execute.

Talarico yard signs up in Waco. No Paxton signs yet

I have seen just as many Paxton signs as Talarico signs locally.

What is more telling though is that there were Beto signs everywhere in 2018 and not even close to as many Talarico signs this time around. Maybe that changes but I doubt it. Beto had immensely more crossover appeal.

I think Beto is a more talented politician than Talarico but he didnt have the benefit of a wildly unpopular President who betrayed his base to serve foreign interests or a Governor who is building data centers on top of people's homes as the backdrop to his election

Paxton is an *******.

Talerico is an absolute radical lunatic.

This is where we are in 2026.

In addition, while Cruz is unlikable, he is brilliant, not a crook, and an incumbent. Paxton goes 0-3.

Pure pandering.

Talarico is frantically trying to walk back his prior statements because he is unelectable. But no one who sees clearly we believe these words that contract what he's been saying for weeks, months, and years. We all know his actual thoughts are the crazy stuff, the pervert who "loves the trans kids" and thinks God is non-binary, and not the lies he says today to con the gullible.

The faculty at Harvard Law School almost universally recognized Cruz as one of the brightest students they had ever taught, regardless of their political inclinations. His net worth with his wife is about $11-12 million dollars. The wife is a Goldman Sachs managing director, he has books, a podcast, and had a lucrative private practice before running for office.

I detest the man because he puts his skills to the wrong uses; he bent his knee to Trump, knowing what Trump is; and he has an unhealthy amount of ambition to be president. But saying he is not very smart and that he is a crook is unsupported.

The arguments I read and hear about the Talarico v. Paxton election are almost completely based on emotion. The threads discussing that election reflect this over and over. The likely outcome of the election itself depends on very different qualities.

Ken Paxton's personal image is well-known, and is his worst problem for the most part. His success as Attorney General of Texas is much more solid, even if the leftists here refuse to admit it. The second problem for Paxton is his GOP rival Cornyn, who needs to be discussed briefly:

John Cornyn ran a boatload of ads in 2025-26 boasting about how much he supported Trump's agenda. The facts were somewhat different, and in any case Cornyn's arrogance and history as a Senator worked against him in the primary elections, which is how we ended up seeing Paxton as the Republican party nominee for Senator.

The Democrats, of course, jumped on these points to attack Paxton as both corrupt and not really MAGA. They frankly had a great opportunity here, but following recent history the Democrats - instead of nominating a seriously qualified candidate - fell back into form and trotted out James Talarico, whose initial campaign profile included boasting about running a 'vegan' campaign, a uniquely subjective version of Christianity where Christ allegedly made His gospel about alternative sexual behavior and most of nominal Christian practices were in fact attacked as morally wrong. Dude also had to rent the pickup truck he used in his ads pretending to be a normie Texan.

The ads have been hard to avoid, and it's hard to imagine either Talarico or Paxton being able to do the things they are promising in those commercials. This point matters because voters will have to navigate a series of decisions:

1) Does the voter care enough either way to vote?

2) if yes, does the voter care enough about the Senate race to vote in it?

3) if yes, does the voter have enough information on the issues and qualifications of the candidates to make an informed decision?

4) if no, does the voter have enough information on the character of the candidates to make a reasonable decision?

and

5) if no, is the voter comfortable with the consequences of either making a decision on insufficient information, or allowing someone to take office that you may regret later by nor stopping?

I think that the decision will seem obvious after the fact. even though it may look very different from ahead of the election.

Ok, I saw the Kimmel Show tonight with Talarico. All this innuendo about doesn't seem to be remotely true ie... Vegan, Gay,8 Genders. For you folks who put a lot of weight religiosity, the guy can quote the Bible and put it in today's context. Hell, he's 4th gen Texan. Grandad was a Baptist preacher. Talarico is halfway through seminary, I think I'd call him Christian and Faithful. He attends the same church he was baptized in a 2 yrs old.

Paxtons nt worth increased 7000% while in office and remarkably, he now has 50 houses. Ole Kenny was in London on July 4th with his side piece instead of being here on the 250th. Meanwhile Talarico was with Willie at his 4th of July Picnic! (I can get behind that). I need to hear more on the economic plan. But, I didn't hate what I heard. Give it a listen.

Of course an atheist Talarico supporter will label him a faithful Christian. Those of us who are Christian's know how a fake Christian talks. We won't be swayed. The New Testament repeatedly warns against falling for their lies.

And on a purely political level, Talarico has provided Texans many reasons to vote against him. All Paxton needs to do for the next few weeks is remind everyone what Talarico has said in recent weeks, months, & years. Talarico's frantic backpedalling today changes nothing. He has told us repeatedly what he really thinks and how he is anathema to Texans.

It's a no brainer.

Well, as of a few years ago his economic plan was to dismantle capitalism and end the oil and gas industry in Texas.

Talarico now backtracking on every radical thing he said in the past is disgusting and disingenuous. To say for example that he voted against the law banning surgeries on minors going through sex changes because the law was too broad is ridiculous. Or that he was wrong when he was for transgender men playing in women's sports. This guy is a total liar, nothing but a two faced jackass to curry votes right before an election. Then of course he returns to the radical he has always been. A leopard does not change its stripes as they say. The man is worthless.

Some people do change their minds. It's very human, especially people who are honest and have some humility (not a Trump character trait). The proof is in the pudding: do their actions reflect a change of mind? On the issue of abortion, for example, Trump has concrete executive actions that demonstrates a genuine change of heart. I don't know anyone who can deny that the Dobbs decision is directly the result of Trump's judicial appointments.

Talarico, on the other hand, is pandering to Texans weeks before an election that he will likely lose in a landslide. Texans have no reason to vote for him except TDS (or Paxton hatred / phobia) and no reason to believe he genuinely has changed his mind on anything. It's all a bunch of empty words with nothing to back them up.

I agree Historian that folks can change their minds. However when an individual retracts their positions on several major policies right before an election, I would suggest that is a "tell".

Trump changes his position daily. So he would qualify. The idea that you saw Talarico as an opportunist and Trump as a committed conservative who came to that position, after in life tells me all I need to know.

Exactly. It's political pandering plain and simple. We have no reason to believe any of it. He has years of history saying otherwise. He knows he's going to get shellacked in November so he's desperately trying to change the narrative. The problem for Jimmy is that a new clip comes out every week with more stupid statements of his from the recent past.

The Dems could very well lose big this year because they chose a large number of terrible, unwinnable candidates. Talarico, Abdul, & Platner (& Jackson) are the most glaring examples.

I don't know anyone who has described Trump is a "committed conservative". He was a Dem until he came town the escalator and was buddies with Billary. Everyone knows that.

He is, however, a committed patriot who has governed "America first" from the beginning. He has delivered very real accomplishments for the country, far more than 12 years of Presidents Obama & Autopen. Despite all his flaws and mistakes no one can mistake him as an operative or stooge for the ChiComs or other enemies. Obama & Biden didn't even want to accurately describe terrorists, aided our enemies on a massive scale (giving Iran billions to help their nuclear program, abandoning billions in military hardware while fleeing Afghanistan, etc).

All Trump's opponents have are TDS, silly lies, fake accusations, and blowing everything out of proportion to reality. He truly is the greatest president we've had since Reagan. Of course, that's a low bar.

Trump is also a vast improvement over the past two Dems who have done lots of harm to America and the people with no real benefits.

Trump is far more patriotic than any Dem in office anywhere as far as I've seen in the past 40 years. Newsom and others often act like tools of the ChiComs. Most of the others clearly have no respect for American history & culture or the constitution. They hate America and it shows in their words and actions. The commies seem to be taking over the party and the old guard have welcomed them. It's a rogue's gallery of corrupt, incompetent fools. And socialism is evil. Socialism is slavery.

Was he a patriot when he dodged the draft? When he hid his tax returns, unlike any other presidential candidate in the past 60 years? When he denigrated John McCain's service? When he sat on his butt while vandals were tromping through the U.S. Capitol? When he tars large numbers of Americans with awful labels?

You are hopeless.
