Iowa State 13 at Baylor 27
The Cyclones are reeling as this season has gone almost as bad as last years to this point. JJ Kohl continues to show flashes of what he can be but going on the road against a top 25 team usually doesn’t end well for young quarterbacks. He turns it over twice and only totals 200 yards of offense. The run game does very little either as this offense just simply isn’t very good. Meanwhile Baylor takes advantage of short fields and quick possessions by Iowa State which makes up for a subpar day offensively. In total the Bears go for 280 yards but score 17 points off three Cyclone turnovers. Baylor is led by a stout defensive performance highlighted by TJ Franklin’s two sacks and Ajani Carter’s red zone interception.
Oklahoma 50 at Kansas 48
The game of the week in the Big 12 features two high-powered offenses turning back time to the mid 2010’s. This is man absolute eruption as Dillon Gabriel and Jalon Daniels help carry both of their offenses to 600+ yard days. Both teams are balanced on the ground as well as this is about as impressive of an offensive performance as you will see this season in the conference. This game comes down to the little things as Kansas misses a field goal and turns the ball over one more time than the Sooners do. Ultimately Oklahoma goes up 50 to 42 as Jovantae Barnes scores a 25-yard touchdown with two minutes left instead of falling and running more time off the clock. The Jayhawks get the ball back and Jalon Daniels leads them all the way down the field and it is capped off with a 7-yard pass to Quentin Skinner in the back of the end zone as time expires. On the two-point conversion, Kansas rolls Jalon Daniels outside the pocket. He finds no one open and takes off towards the pylon but is met by Danny Stutsman who keeps the superstar QB out of the end zone. Sooners win a classic.
Houston 20 at Kansas State 40
Will Howard leads the Wildcats to a huge day offensively as they total over 500 yards of total offense. Howard throws two scores and runs in another while the ground game with DJ Giddens and Treshaun Ward continues to thrive. Houston moves the ball some but three turnovers really cost them any chance at making this a game.
Cincinnati 17 at Oklahoma State 33
The Bearcats are nearing desperation mode if they want to make a bowl in 2023 but they are going to the wrong place to try to make that happen. Stillwater is not fun for road teams and Cincy finds that out. The offense turns it over three times and the group totals just 250 yards in this one. Oklahoma State doesn’t play great offensively but they do more than enough thanks to three Ollie Gordon touchdowns. Big win as this keeps the Pokes in the Big 12 title picture for the time being.
BYU 17 at Texas 41
The Cougars have had Texas’ number in recent years as everyone remembers the Taysom Hill games but the Longhorns get revenge. Too many weapons for Texas especially in the passing game against a very average secondary. Quinn Ewers throws for 350 yards and four touchdowns as Isaiah Neyor and Xavier Worthy both go for over 100 yards receiving. This one is not close from start to finish.
West Virginia 23 at UCF 43
Both of these teams are currently battling to finish in the top half of the Big 12 standings at this point in the season so it’s a very important one. The Bounce House is electric especially after John Rhys Plumlee totals three touchdowns in the first quarter to give UCF a big lead which they hold on to. The Mountaineers defense plays one of the weaker games of it’s season as they get ran over and thrown on at will. Tough one for Neal Brown and company on the road.
