The second half, not as much.
Gonna be an exciting player. Should be fun to watch.

So now that we have him signs I wonder if any of the people in this thread that didn't want him, were sure he wasn't coming here, didn't think he was an upgrade, etc. think any differently now. Especially since it seems his coming here has impacted the decisions of a few other players to come here.

As much as I wish Duke had fought, it's like having a partner who wants out. Gotta let her go.

I agree. You don't want a player that won't be focused/doesn't want to be there but contracts need to be enforced.

I wish Duke would have fought it. A school needs to stand up and take it to court to stop this crap from happening. Every time a settlement happens it tells players that want to leave after signing a contract that they can.

I agree with you. I'll place this blame on the NCAA. The institutions should suffer if they tamper. In this case, Miami was willing to pay Duke a buyout fee and pay Mensah. If the NCAA made tampering a significant punishable offense, then there would be no way to tamper via contracts.
As I look at this landscape, reigning it in doesn't seem that hard. Fix the football calendar. Open and close the portal after the last game is played. End tampering of players under contract. **** the SEC. All easy.

My solution would be to open the portal at the end of the spring. You have to worry about disrupting the academic schedule if you wait until after the championship.

There really isnt much point of taking a lot of younger qbs. If theyre good they will just leave after a year if they dont play. May as well just buy a good qb in the portal every year.

Pay a good backup. QB's get hurt. Dj has an injury history plus 28 TD's, 25 INTs in 2 years.
Sources: The NCAA has denied Ole Miss’ appeal for Trinidad Chambliss’ sixth-year waiver. The NCAA athletics eligibility subcommittee denied the waiver, which was for a medical redshirt, and the school has been informed. pic.twitter.com/LWjK0jfc2u

I agree but Dj was also thrown right into the fire and was the only hope to save his coaches job. He definitely regressed his soph year but was playing hurt. I think we see a much better version of him this fall.
This is the point Lagway skeptics miss. We're getting him after his growth years for what should be a prime season or seasons. Any mistakes he's made to this point were made while he was a freshman or sophomore. We're getting him with 20-plus games of experience and throwing him into a proven system with a proven QB developer.Chuckroast said:
Lagway had 1 or fewer interceptions in 9 out of 12 games last year. He had 3 in an abysmal team effort against KY and 5 against LSU. A couple of bad games really skewed his numbers. When you compare the experience and success he has had before coming here to Sawyer's, there is no comparison, and Sawyer certainly did OK.

Our offensive system is fine, but I think taking basically an entire new class of transfers and underclassman with no game experience and expecting them to form a cohesive unit in one off-season with the current coaching staff is a tall order. Also, the loss of Pendergrass was downplayed big time going into 2025, and I feel the same way about Bryson Washington. When healthy, he was a really good running back.
Ole Miss has filed a reconsideration to the NCAA over the denial of Trinidad Chambliss’ eligibility waiver and appeal, per @RossDellenger.
