There are 68 teams selected for the tournament. We were not one of them. So we are not better than any of those teams.

There are 32 teams selected for the NIT. We were not one of them. Thus they are better than us.

2nd graders logic. I can't believe that not only do you think that's true, but actually posted it out here so everyone can see that you actually believe its true. How embarrassing.

Factual logic. Did we get invites to either of those two tournaments? No. Facts. All day long factual evidence.

The fact so many people are jumping to defend our inclusion in this tournament just proves my original point.

Simply Google 'NIT selection criteria ' to help you understand what people are trying to explain to you in this thread.

Simply google 2026 NIT field to see we did not make the tournament nor did we receive an invite.

The second any one of you can do that and stop defending our inclusion in this after thought of a tournament I will admit you are right that this tournament is amazing, the best, hugest success of a tournament and better than the national championship like so many of you are trying to make it sound like. When in fact we are arguing the third level tournament, after thought, full of barely .500 or below .500 teams instead of recognizing peoples opinions about the quality of this worthless afterthought of a tournament are different.

What are you even talking about? Defend our inclusion? We were included. There's no defense necessary.

You're just here to **** on a team that no one who has been following all year thinks very highly of to begin with.

This team and season have been really disappointing. If you'd been around here at all before now, you'd know that that's not a controversial opinion. It's the consensus.

But The Crown invited our team, and we have a chance now to go try to win a few games and end a tough season on a high note. Why this is the discussion you decided to finally chime in on is beyond me honestly. You're playing stupid gotcha games with a bunch of people who are as disappointed as you are with our season and more invested.

You honestly think Baylor is a worse team than Prairie View A&M? Tennessee St? Queens?
You think Baylor would lose if they played those teams? If Baylor played in the SWAC they wouldn't win that conference?
Thanks for the comedy cowboy, you're a special kind of thick.

More invested??? Why because they post here more than me??? Lol that is not investment.

And yet my original point stands. Everyone is sooooo disappointed with this tournament they are spending days defending our playing in it instead of just accepting we are playing in an after thought of a tournament.

Which is weird since so many have agreed with my point but still want to argue it is some sort of accomplishment.

It isn't.

Yes defend our inclusion in a lowly tournament that no one cares about.

Please post tv numbers for our game from this tournament once it happens. The fact you keep coming back to brag about how our inclusion in this tournament is a good thing and we "earned" this tournament and it is better than the NIT.

That does not prove investment. That does not prove basketball knowledge.

Nothing.

But I can provide the facts again to prove I am right. I can provide your own words defending this tournament and our selection to it.

Lack of basketball knowledge?? What are you even talking about??? Are you seriously trying to say because we disagree about the level of prestige of this crappy tournament it means one of us knows more about basketball?? ???? Oh wait I get it. You will come back with some BS about how I don't post enough here which shows I don't know basketball or some bs like that. Because sicem is the ultimate basketball knowledge in the world and the number of posts inside the basketball forum proves that knowledge. Maybe you should contact BU with that information and help Drew figure out how to navigate NIL and his coaching philosophy, development, family, culture and make them mesh well.

If you aren't defending it why keep responding????

Because you are defending this crappy tournament and crappy inclusion in it by our team.

How about no. I will answer what I want. Not jump at the demands of another.

Answer mine first and maybe I will answer yours (even though it has nothing to do with this discussion in any way shape or form)

Did we get an invite to the tournament?

Did we get an invite to the NIT?

Why did we not get invites to those two but other teams did?

You're making a fool of yourself on this thread. No one here thinks the NIT is a big deal. That we think this tournament is on or near equal footing with the NIT isn't a defense or celebration of this tournament. It's just a statement easily supported by fact. It's like arguing between the Texas Bowl or the Armed Forces Bowl in football. No one thinks either of those is a big deal either. But if our team qualified for one on its own merit, most of us would say we should go compete in it to the best of our ability.

That's all anyone's saying here about this year's basketball team. You continue to beat straw men to death and think you're accomplishing something. It's kind of sad to watch, frankly.

But if our team qualified for one on its own merit, most of us would say we should go compete in it to the best of our ability.

That's all anyone's saying here about this year's basketball team. You continue to beat straw men to death and think you're accomplishing something. It's kind of sad to watch, frankly.

And yet you keep responding, but noticeably ignore much of my posts and don't answer questions.

Again, I can provide facts like your own words.

But again you will respond with more about how I don't post enough to have basketball knowledge and how this tournament is awesome great, huge, or even on par with the Not Interested Tournament as if that is some sort of brag…….

This thread may be the best real world example I've ever seen of the axiom "Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Good luck in your pursuit to convince people who don't think our 2026 team is good or that an invitation to The Crown is an achievement that our 2026 team isn't good and that an invitation to the Crown isn't an achievement.

Where did I say anything about winning their conference? Please post my exact words to that.

You can't be this stupid. You said all 68 teams in the NCAA tourney are better than Baylor so I'm asking you if you actually believe that. I'm not saying you said those things, I'm asking you questions to back that up. Answer my questions. Do you think Prairie View A&M is a better team than Baylor? Do you think Baylor would not win the SWAC if that was their conference?

Why did we not get invites to those two but other teams did?

Prairie View A&M got in because they won the SWAC tournament. That doesn't mean they are better than Baylor.
Now, stop dodging, man up, and answer my simple questions.

So they won their conference tournament….. and how did Baylor do in their conference tournament???????

Dude . You been given several chances to save face on this thread.

YOU were the one who said we must be the 101st best team because 68 make the NCAA and 32 make the NIT.

All we're trying to tell you is back in the day.. you may have been correct.. but now with super conferences and realignment that's not the case. There's no pecking order like it used to be.

And absolutely no one on this thread is popping champagne because we're in The Crown.

Lol. Sorry facts hurt your feelings.

But I have facts all day long.

Just remember when these games are finally played since none of you care about this tournament don't brag if we win a game or the whole thing.

Save face?? What am I saving face on? The fact I have different opinions than you and a few others?? I thought that was the point of message boards.

The difference is my opinions are based on facts. Yours are based on "what ifs" based on conference names.

Fact #1 we did not make the tournament.

Fact #2 68 other teams did.

Please tell me where either of those are wrong.

I already told you where you're wrong dummy.

Reread my 2nd paragraph in my post you quoted about us being the 101st best team since we didn't make the NCAA or 'missed' the NIT.

We didn't 'miss' the NIT.

And no one is gonna celebrate us winning the Crown.

If they do.. they're trolling.. and you'll probably fall for it.

And I have asked you for our invite to the NIT that we declined. No invite means we missed or did not produce a season worthy of them offering us.

So provide that invite to prove me wrong. Otherwise accept you are wrong and move on

How many Big 12 teams are in the NIT?

Again.. for the umpteenth time.. the Big 12 has agreed to send it's top 2 teams in NET rankings that don't make the Big Dance to The Crown.

Doesn't mean if a team wants to go to the NIT they can't.. just that The Crown pays travel and NIL .. it's irrelevant if NIT offered or not..

You keep thinking NIT selection process like it's been the last 60 years and I'm trying to tell you it's not like that anymore.

In other non NCAA Tourney news, New Mexico beat George Washington last night to move onto the NIT Quarters. That's their first time making it to the 3rd round of any postseason tournament since Fran Fraschilla's UNM beat Bliss' BU and Pepperdine to make the 3rd round of the NIT in 2001. I remember staying up real late to watch BU lose that game, which we were really excited to play in.

Crazy for a program that's always pretty good and averages like 12k fans a game. They still have never made a Sweet Sixteen since the expansion to 62+.
Noooo evidence for that, babeeyyy, just maaade it up.

In the eyes of the NCAA and the rules for acceptance in the tournament- it does mean that exactly. Prairie View earned their spot - Baylor did not. As well, I was the original post of Baylor fighting for 101 position because that is what they are doing.

The only celebration of winning this Vegas event is that the players can earn some extra $$$$ - that's all. Drew and staff should be embarrassed by the results this season.

... if the players can make some coin, then why not?

that seems to be the only thing that really matters right now in college athletics.

and since most of these guys are NOT the next $100MM NBA career earnings type - then this works out well for them - just need to be smart and prudent w/ the cashe.......

I said this in the other Crown thread, but I'll put it here as well, since this one has gotten more traffic.

I know I frequently come across as critical of Scott Drew, but I really do like the man and the things he stands for. And I love the way he approaches situations like this. There's not an ounce of entitlement in that man, and that rubs off on his teams. I think that's one of the big reasons we've been able to turn past disappointments into significant achievements, and I hope we do the exact same thing here.

The fact that he said he didn't even have to convince his players to play in this tournament is very telling ... and says a lot about the culture he's built in his program. There's a genuine chemistry in our program that can't be faked. If we're ever able to figure out the roster-composition and depth-building components in this new NIL/transfer portal era, those things will likely pay off again in a major way.
