He should have prayed that this man finds his way to repentance and shame. He should have rebuked him. Look, I have no illusions about what Talarico stands for and would be like as a Senator - He'd be a woke disaster. But the reason he's going to win is because Ken is who he is and because the GOP in Texas can't think any further than they are told to by Trump. That's why Ken was acquitted by the Senate, and that's why Ken won the primary.

The reason Talarico might win is bcs Trump started another never-ending war in the middle east for Israel(something he campaigned against) and sent gas prices soaring...

If the idiotic Iran war doesnt happen, Paxton wins by at least the same margin Cruz won by in 2018.

I'd rather have people who acknowledge the sovereignty of God making government decisions than some fool who believes in no god (thus worshipping himself). Anyone trying to ban "religion of any kind" from public life would be imposing a "religion" of nihilism and materialism that historically is always disastrous.

That's the kind of thinking that produced the worst dictators in modern history who collectively killed tens of millions of people.

Both parties use these Senate leadership funds to support their candidates in the State Senate races during general elections.

[Senate Majority PAC (SMP): Democratic-aligned super PAC closely aligned with Senate Democratic leadership, specifically coordinated or working in tandem with the orbit of Chuck Schumer.
Senate Leadership Fund (SLF): Republican-aligned super PAC affiliated with Senate GOP leadership (originally founded by allies of Mitch McConnell and tied closely to leadership like John Thune]

I think its wrong for the DNC to fund one of their party candidates over any other with out of state funds....that would be unfair. And I think its wrong for the RNC to fund one of their party candidates over any other with out of State funds...that is also not fair.

But its legitimate for the DNC and RNC to spend their party funds on State races between each other....in all contests between the parties.

He does have a chance - the constant drum of "dis-satisfaction" from the media takes its toll on the weak minded and gullible. Every year we have more kids who have been publicly schooled and now voting. We also have Trump doing so many dumb things that only hurt the weak-minded moderates will to continue to vote in our favor.

I don't expect low-T to win, but I have several low-testosterone "moderate" friends that will sit it out because they love their ghey-wad progressive friends and can't think for themselves.

Heck even RD2, a great poster, is going to sit it out because poutty gonna pout.

You're making a false contrast - government by people who "acknowledge the sovereignty of God," or government by nihilists "worshipping themselves." Secularism isn't a rival religion. Secularism is a procedural commitment that no religious tradition gets state backing, precisely because citizens disagree about which god/religion is sovereign. You can hold your own metaphysical views and still support government that doesn't legislate based on any single tradition's theology, which is pluralism, not nhilism.

Some of the 20th century's worst regimes (Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot) weren't murderous because they were atheistic in a doctrinal sense, they were totalitarian personality cults that demanded absolute loyalty to the state/leader. All rival sources to authority were repressed, religious or otherwise (e.g. Pol Pot's execution of the educated). The mechanism was totalitarianism, not disbelief in God. On the otherhand, religious govenance has its own body count (the Wars of religion, the Inquisition, theocratic violence throughout history) which you conveniently ignore.

Which Christian tradition's reading of "God's sovereignty" do you believe should govern policy - Catholic, Orthodox, Southern Baptist, Anglican, Mormon, Pentacostal, some other denomination, your denomination? You don't really want to acknowedge the sovereignty of God," instead you want your sect's interpretation to have political authority, which is exacty what the secular Establisment Clause was put in the U.S. Constitution to avoid.

I agree Talarico shouldn't use his religious beliefs or scriptural interpretation to justify public or progressive policy. Any relgious "scripture" and relgious belief is malleable enough to justify almost anything, which is exactly why we need to keep it out of policymaking.

In modern society, "secularism" has become the equivalent of a religion, in its behavior and political actions. Secularists try to impose their views on government on society far more than Christians do. We only want our 1st amendment rights, they are intolerant of people who disagree with them and often target them, especially Christians.

Governments have always legislated based on moral views. Morality is the foundation of law. America is a western country firmly within the Judeo-Christian tradition. That is historic fact and reality despite Leftists trying to deny or erase it. To the extent that the moral foundation of laws have a religious element, then the laws will necessarily reflect that. It has worked reasonably well for 250 years and there is no good reason to replace that with a different foundation. In fact, we have many reasons to avoid such dangerous experimentation.

The personality cults and tyranny of the murderous dictatorships were based on their philosophies and explicit rejection or distortion of religion and morality. The atheism of those regimes went hand in hand with their philosophy. What did Marx say about religion? How much did they oppress people for their religious faith? The connection is very real and direct. Attempts to separate the are futile and dishonest. The state or dictator became the god to replace the suppression of the one True God. It's still happening in North Korea today explicitly.

The Christian tradition that predominates is that of Jesus Christ, not any specific denomination. Theological debates among he different groups are irrelevant to any discussion of public policy. Anyone who attempts to insert them into such debates are distorting the issues.

Any attempt to remove faith from public policy discussions, a common goal of secularists and atheists, leads to the kind of tyranny and oppression that resulted in tens of millions of innocent people murdered in the 20th century. Yes, it was all in the name of socialism but it was also perpetrated by tyrannical dictatorships that tried to replace God with the state/dictator. Hence the personality cults.

As John Adams and other Founding Fathers noted, our system of government is incompatible without religion and morality. As a Puritan, he was clearly thinking in the framework of Christianity.

As John Adams and other Founding Fathers noted, our system of government is incompatible without religion and morality. As a Puritan, he was clearly thinking in the framework of Christianity.

"Secularism has become the equivalent of a religion"
This is meaningless rhetoric. Secularism has no doctrine or creed, no deity, no theology, no worship. Secularism is a viewpoint you don't like. By your logic, if secularism is a religion, every political philosophy (libertarianism, conservatism) is a religion, which means the words lose their meaning, and you're simply using religion a nondescriptive slur.

"Secularists impose more than Christians"
What is your metric for this claim? The Texas curriculum fights (and elsewhere) are cogent examples of religiously motivated policy imposed on non-believers. Give me a specific, comparable policy example.

"America is Judeo-Christian, historic fact"
You're conflating cultural influence with the constitutional design of our founding fathers, and ignoring the very oppression from a religious state they were attempting to avoid and had escaped. Our founding fathers were culturally Christian, yet they wrote a godless Constitution. There is no mention of God, Jesus, or Christianity in the text itself. They explicitly barred religious tests for office and established a no religion amendment. If the founding fathers intended a Christian government, that was a strange way to write the founding document.

"Christian tradition of Jesus, not denomination, is what matters"
You're just dodging my question. Christian tradition of Jesus has no meaning. Whose reading alledgedly of "what Jesus taught" should govern governmental policy - civil rights, health and welfare, national defense, or any other public interest? Catholics, Othodox Christians, Southern Baptists, and mainline Protestants disagree sharply on many issues using the same Jesus. "Just follow Christ, not denominations" is an empty non unifying statement. Actual denominational, Protestant, Catholic and Othodox disagreements are exactly at the level of interpretation you're trying to dismiss.

Marx/atheism-causes-tyranny.
Correlating Marx's hostility to religion doesn't establish that atheism causes totalitarianism. The actual mechanism common to Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot was the suppression of any rival authority - religious, intellectual, familial - in favor of absolute state/personality loyalty. That's why Pol Pot targeted intellectuals and glasses-wearers as readily as monks. North Korea's state ideology, Juche, essentially functions as a state religion with a god-dictator, complete with quasi-theological doctrine. Juche is not "atheism replacing religion," it's one religion (state/dictator worship) replacing another.

John Adams quote "our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people".
You're ignoring the context of "our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people," and ignoring that Adams also signed the Treaty of Tripoli (1797), ratified unanimously by the Senate, stating outright that "the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." The founders were not univocal and cherry-picking one Adams quote while ignoring a treaty his own administration signed is the same selective-scripture problem you flagged with Talarico.

You do enjoy using your Leftist talking points, mostly gibberish.

Socialism can only happen when imposed by force. No one will voluntarily give away everything they have year after year to benefit others who don't even try to take care of themselves. That is the reality of socialism. And it has failed every time it has been tried. That is historical fact. In the 20th century over 100 million people were killed in the name of socialism. Historical facts.

The U.S. was founded by Christian's and based on Christian principles: individual freedom, equality, etc each have a basis in scripture. The Declaration of Independence directly refers to God's role, and Jefferson was supposed to be a Deist! The entire natural law philosophy underlying the founding of the US is largely based on scripture.

These are facts.

There is zero chance that any "real" men will vote for Talarico.

Talarico is for biological males in women sports, and is pro-kid-transitioning. He advocates for it as policy. Only changed his view when it hurt his election chances - but we know what he will do when he's in office, he will side with the progressives.

There's corrupt men in the system, and there casn be negative impacts, but the system can survive bad men, it's when the bad morality becomes policy that the masses are hurt long term. Talarico will absolutely work against American values and favor progressive/socialist and immoral values. Kids will be transitioned, women will lose their identity as women if he has a say in it.

Real men protect kids and women. They don't vote for policies that will definitely hurt them long term.

Any Talarico fan is not a real man because they have seen the impact progressive policies have on women and on kids, and know it to be wrong and sad.
