There is a huge difference between the 2. I don't care one wit if any President plays alot of golf. They have a hard job and need some downtime. However, the clear difference is WE a paying for that ***** to enrich himself at his clubs. Yes, WE (taxpayers) are paying for him to live it up at his clubs.
Let me just bottom line this for you, J.R. There are three elements that have to be in place to bring down a president. The first is some kind of wrongdoing, which is almost always present. The second is a hostile press, which is always present if he's a Republican. The third is an American public sufficiently angry to want him gone. If we want him gone, we'll convince ourselves he deserves impeachment for putting ketchup on his steak. If we don't, he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and it wouldn't matter. Things like renting out his clubs, having affairs, or hiring his kids are not things that anyone cares about per se. Not me, not you, not anybody.

In other words, this is a whole lot of sound and fury signifying the fact that you're pissed off about steel prices and Jinx is pissed off about SCOTUS.
It's hard for lefties to understand that yeah, we know Trump is an *******, a jerk, mean and ruthless at times, he's had affairs with pornstars etc...but he's still good for this country.

He gets it done. He's improved the economy drastically and in effect made all lives better.

I'd rather have an ******* in office than someone who speaks well and keeps appearances but turns around and ships pallets of cash to the number one state sponsor of terrorism in the world then lies about it. Or covers up Benghazi. And gets a pass in the media for his failures.

JR says he's not a Democrat, but he fails to understand that taking down Trump will turn this country over to the hard left and he will be dealing with far bigger problems than he could ever imagine.

No, Sammy, you have my position all wrong. I think he is a crook, bully, lacks integrity, morality, leadership. I think is bad for Merica. That's it. He is just a POS
And you knew all that when you voted for him. That's my point.

Cohen doesn't know if Trump knew about the Trump Tower meeting before hand. But, but, but I thought he was present and has insider info?

Cohen is such a bad liar, he doesn't know anything and making **** up to get a deal.

Fewer jobs created in Trump's first 18 months than in Obama's last 18 months. Gas prices up significantly, along with sharp spikes in health insurance rates (33% increase locally where I'm at), both demonstrably caused by this admins choices. Real wages are also trending down since the tax cut was passed. And of course, $trillion+ dollar budget deficits appear to be the norm for the foreseeable future, putting our ability to weather the next economic storm in doubt.

Buy ya, other than those, things are peachy I suppose.

I sort of get why some people who were disenchanted with the system and wanted to shake things up, would vote for him... but I don't understand at all why so many continue to stand behind him even now....

Donald Trump is a phony... a fraud... his promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University.... he's not strong... he is actually weak... he's a bully... a cartoon character... When he is gone I don't think he'll be missed... in fact, I don't think he's a conservative. I think he's a fake and a charlatan. This man is a pathological liar. He doesn't know the difference between truth and lies. He lies practically every word that comes out of his mouth, and in a pattern that seems like it's straight out of a psychology textbook, his response is to accuse everybody else of lying.

If you have been waiting for him to change, it's not going to happen.... he is what he is and what he is, is bad for America.
His policies are innovative, he's one of the least corrupt presidents in recent memory, and you want him to not be an a******, too?

Meh. Two out of three seems pretty good to me.
you absolutely have a blind spot if you think he's not corrupt....he's hired every thief in America to work for him. He's robbing the US blind while "giving his salary to charity" He hasn't drained the swamp.... he's swamped the drain.
The swamp would disagree. Its residents aren't happy.
what in the Sam Hill are you talking about? Everyone he's hired has used the US Government as their personal piggy bank!!!
I don't know about all that. It's a facile claim, often repeated, but proof seems lacking.

The swamp is the military, the bureaucracy, and the permanent government. With due respect to Quash, when you hear that Trump is attacking institutions...that's when the swamp is being drained.

What innovative policy is draining the military--industrial-congressional complex swamp?
Which one has drawn the most outrage? You'll know without having to think. It was the one expressed at Helsinki.

Backing Putin and backstabbing the U.S. is hardly a swamp draining act. Helsinki is what caused Cohen to flip.

The use of child separation as a deterrent may have drawn more outrage. And didn't drain the swamp at all.

Renting out Trump swampview property looks corrupt to me. You can defend it as vaguely legal but that doesn't lift the swampstink. Especially if you define the swamp as going inside the Beltway for personal gain.
I don't think diplomacy is backstabbing. I don't think you ever did either, until now. What happened?

That's not diplomacy. Not by a long shot.

Meanwhile, the bottom line remains the same. This whole epic, blockbuster, we've really, really, really got him this time Cohen flip is just another dud for all the haters out there, including the MSM. It's another nothing burger, guys plain and simple.

Seriously, isn't it about time to move on to the next tinfoil hat conspiracy bomb shell, we've really, really, really, really, really got him this time "revelation"?? I've got an idea. Since the "Russian collusion" thing obviously isn't working out (in spite of all the Soviet Secret Police style persecutions that are happening), maybe you guys should invent an angle involving extraterrestrials you know, maybe something like 3 years ago Trump was abducted by "the greys" and surgically implanted with a hyper advanced computer chip that allows him to manipulate voters through the use of mind control? Then another special counsel could be appointed to start threatening more of his campaign and business associates with up to 40 years in prison for having too many speeding tickets in a 3 period if they don't "compose & sing".

Hey, it's worth a shot!

And finally, there's this:

An empty chair in the Oval Office could have seen these economic gains. I have long said that presidents cannot exert large positive impact on an economy, but they can bring it down

The real govt influence, as opposed to the main driver in the private market, is twofold: Congress and the Fed.

You like where are now? Thank Congress and the Fed.

I have never gotten why the Trumpers are ok with this... they act like he is a saint for donating his salary, but ignore that he's spent almost 200 days so far in Trump owned hotels and resorts and those rooms for all of the staff and secret service are being paid for with tax dollars and they are enriching the President.
Not to mention the umpteen members of his family he's put on the payroll. Are they ALL donating their time? They might as well, become none of them are qualified for their positions.

I recall numerous posts complaining about the cost of Obama's vacations to the government because, not being a rich guy, he had to rent a house in Hawaii--his home state--for his family, which meant the government also had to rent accommodations for his retinue. And several posters complained repeatedly about the amount of time Obama spent on the golf course.

But I haven't heard word one about Trumps' frequent golf games or his long weekends at Mar A Lago or Trump resorts, where the government pays Trump businesses for lodging for his retinue. Small potatoes compared to his other misdeeds - selling us out to Putin (I think we're going to find out he owes Putin money, and we may find out that he isn't releasing his tax returns because he may have committed the same sort of tax fraud Manafort has), bombasting his own staff, constantly accusing other people of lying when he has lied so much about different things you need a diagram to keep the story lines straight, pissing off our allies, letting Jeff Sessions kidnap children from foreign nationals seeking asylum here and then lose track of them, and constantly presenting this pompous story about how great and all-knowing he is when it's obvious that he doesn't have a clue what the presidency is or that his role is servant leadership, not self-aggrandizement and increased brand recognition.

How long are you guys going to make excuses for this sorry excuse for a man?

If you haven't heard about Trump's visits to "Mar A Lago" or wherever, you haven't been reading the news.
On this board; certainly the papers have reported it.

There's a huge double-standard on Sicem when it comes to the misdeeds of Republican politicians v. Democrats. Clinton's adultery was unconscionable and disgusting! Trump's is either fake news or ignored by the Christian right cuz SCOTUS.
Really?! I had not noticed that at all.

But keep acting like we're the ones who are uninformed. There is record low unemployment & there are more jobs than job seekers.
-Unemployment rate is at a record low, dropping to 3.9%
-This is only the 8th time since 1970 that unemployment has dropped below 4%
-Wage growth is at 2.7 percent, indicating a rise in average working hours

The U.S. manufacturing job market is stronger than it has been in 20 years.

JR says he's not a Democrat, but he fails to understand that taking down Trump will turn this country over to the hard left and he will be dealing with far bigger problems than he could ever imagine.

Buy ya, other than those, things are peachy I suppose.
the fact that Trumpers actually believe the bolded sentence above shows that they either can't or don't want to read a graph
That's interesting since multiple liberal CEO's have praised this administration for the cut back in regulations and the corporate tax cuts plus many more. But keep acting like we're the ones who are uninformed. We all know President's aren't 100% responsible for a good or bad economy's but to think he hasn't helped and given it a big boost after it being flat under Obama is just being partisan.
that's not what Doc posted... he didn't say that Trump's policies have made CEO's happy.... he said that He's improved the economy drastically and in effect made all lives better.

based on the data from 2008-2018, this is a blatantly false statement

Well then how did the following happen since Trump took office?

There is record low unemployment & there are more jobs than job seekers.
-Unemployment rate is at a record low, dropping to 3.9%
-This is only the 8th time since 1970 that unemployment has dropped below 4%
-Wage growth is at 2.7 percent, indicating a rise in average working hours

The U.S. manufacturing job market is stronger than it has been in 20 years.
-The labor market added 157,000 jobs in July
-Since the start of the year, the economy is averaging 215,000 new jobs per month
-Manufacturing gained 37,000 jobs in July

The real govt influence, as opposed to the main driver in the private market, is twofold: Congress and the Fed.

You like where are now? Thank Congress and the Fed.
By that logic it doesn't matter who is president so why they hell do you have TDS?

Are you suggesting that they didn't meet beforehand to discuss bilateral relations, nuclear weapons, terrorism, Syria, Iran, North Korea, etc.? Or that you don't think these are fit topics for diplomacy? I'm really not following.

Diplomacy is something that Trump has shown he does not value. Repeatedly. Not every meeting is diplomacy. What diplomatic gains were made?
That remains to be seen. He's making the effort, which is enough to provoke the establishment.
An effort. A little tiny bit of effort. What is provocative is not the lack of effort, but the backstabbing.

Whatever happened to America First?

I voted for him because I felt he could shake up Washington and it time to have business man in the WH. I also thought he would get up the curve much quicker. We got a shister, instead.
I hear you. You voted for a bullying crook with no morality, integrity, or leadership because you thought he'd be good for America. Now it turns out you think he's bad for America. That's your prerogative, but don't blame the rest of us just because we still like his policies.
Same guy you voted for.

Takes the same moral fiber it does to keep supporting a church that covers for pedophile and sexually abusive priests again and again and again, lies about the abuse early on by blaming on homosexual priests or claiming it didn't happen (he said/he-or-she said), and then pays people off and keeps moving bad actors from parish to parish to parish and putting them through bogus rehab programs, until they are finally shamed into action by a report that includes horrific reports that include teen pregnancies caused by priests, abortions paid for by priests and a boy who is raped so hard, often and repeatedly by a truly evil priest that he suffers a permanent back injury and ultimately dies of an overdose of the painkillers he becomes addicted to.

Cohen and Pecker are the first wave of the Trump complicity version of the Pennsylvania abusive priest report.

How many morally nasty and sordid behaviors are you going to excuse or ignore because you like their policies?

There was no backstabbing. I will say one thing: if Trump had done what everyone seems to think he should have done, if he'd stood there at the most critical juncture in US/Russia relations since the Cold War and called Putin a liar publicly and to his face, you'd be right to say he doesn't value diplomacy.
