Watching 11.22.63 on Netflix. The old 60s scenes of "Dallas" are fun.

It's fun mainly because of the historical stuff, but ...
  • It ignores the Back to the Future rule.
  • There is a pretty ridiculous plot hole
  • The ending is shocking
But I recommend it - it's entertaining.

"Red Eye" on HULU. Binging it now. TV series. English doctor goes to conference in Beijing. He meets lovely Chinese gal, she roofies him and he still drives off. He flies back to UK and there, they wont let him in, he has to return to China on the Red Eye and all hell breaks loose

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy (2026) has faced backlash and accusations of being "woke" from critics and commentators like Elon Musk and Stephen Miller, following its January 2026 premiere. Conversely, cast members and defenders argue the franchise has historically been "woke" from its inception, focusing on progressive, diverse, and socially aware themes.

And I would agree. "Youth need to be activist", all sorts of Dykes, worse than the last couple of series by far. They try to insult conservatives at every turn

Night Mgr S2

What Else ?

If you are interested in San Francisco, I finished the Warrior. It was worth watching. Bruce Lee wrote the original transcript, so it is his telling or at least some of it. Not new, but very interesting about the China Town culture in 1890's.

TOS was definitely progressive. I don't really care if they sometimes are progressive about things that I don't particularly support. I do, however, have a problem with shows that are going nowhere. Right now, this looks like Beverly Hills 90210 meets the future. Not sure how they're going to make this show Star Trek.

Enjoyed "His and Hers" on NF. Its a 6 episode limited series so pretty easy to binge in a few days. Pretty good thriller.

Sandookan - The Pirate Prince.

Not very deep but not a bad binge for a day. Doubt anyone will ever say it's award worthy

Agreed. Not sure I liked the ending.
- I liked the first twist ... seems a little clever by half ... although like that it setup the expected "fat girl" trope and twisted it
- Same with the second twist ... seemed a little clever by half

Regardless, good show.

My wife liked that one. She said it was like a non-musical Pirates of Penzance.

She talked me into a teen skating drama one before the Olympics. Good skating, but painful teen soap opera... Finding Her Edge.

Rewatching Turn, Washington's Spies and Fallout bit by bit...

Song Song Blue was well done. Kate Hudson shocked me with her singing. She can sing. Hugh Jackman is the same character in everything, it just seems to differ if he is singing or not. If you like Neil Diamond, the songs will bring back memories.

It looked good in the previews ... but I think it is already gone ...

Nope. What is it about?

Just watched The Rip last night. Would recommend.

Also watching Troy: Fall of a City...I would say its mid...just barely good enough to keep me watching it. Of course they still found a way to push woke and LBGTQ in Greek mythology...

So I watched "One Battle after Another" the other night on Prime. I have got to do a better job of reading up on movies. I knew something about Dicaprio's character trying to rescue his daughter, but I wasn't clear on the general plot of the story.

Basically, it's a thoroughly unlikable movie. All the characters in the movie are unsympathetic. The daughter is an exception for a bit, but she doesn't stay that way. Most of the "heroes" of the story are left-wing terrorists. The bad guys are racist military types.

Overall, it felt sleazy all the way through. I mostly kept watching it because I'd paid $6 for it, but I probably should have decided my time was more valuable at some point.

Just re-watched Taboo, a Tom Hardy. That is really good. Wish there would have been more seasons.

Agreed. Very good show.

From the interwebz...

Tom Hardy only appeared in one season of Taboo primarily due to his intense scheduling commitments with major projects like Venom, alongside a desire to ensure the show's quality by not rushing production. While a second season was confirmed, the long delay was caused by finding time for the passion project.
  • Busy Schedule: Hardy's, and creator Steven Knight's, packed schedules with other projects (e.g., Venom, Peaky Blinders) forced the series to take a back seat.
  • Quality Control: Hardy emphasized wanting to do the second season "properly," treating it as a passion project with his father rather than rushing it.
  • Active Development: Despite the years-long gap, Taboo was officially renewed for a second season, with scripts actively being worked on in 2025 and expected to resume, according to IMDb reports.
The show is not cancelled, but rather delayed due to the logistical challenges of aligning the schedules of the key creator

I can't wait for the 2nd season.

Frontier was very similar. Fur trapping, East India Company, British aristocracy.

There is a reason it is everyone's favorite movie on the UT Nazi board and has like a 100% on the critic aggregator sites.

I watched The Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic reviews. I suspect they are far more entertaining than the actual show. What the simpletons don't understand is it is not just the wokeness that drives people's hatred - in both Wars and Trek the new crazy wokies completely ignore canon and just make up whatever ... so yes, having to have every type of minority represented is an eye roll, but the disregard of established canon because the writers are lazy and stupid is the main problem.
