Saw this one on the list on HULU, forgot how good it was

The Commitments

Group of Dublin kids form a soul band. They are all white but they really come together. At least for a while

BTW - if you watch it again, these kids are actually really playing and singing

Commitments is a classic! Couldn't find it for the longest time.

Sing St is a HS knock off that is not bad. Bit less raw, more like Disney version.

Good choice....

Looked it up on Wiki to see if the kids did their own singing and playing. Not only did it confirm it, but they've been touring as a band for decades.

"99 Year Old Man" with Mel Brooks. If you like his humor, it's hilarious. I kinda grew up with him and Carl Reiner so I love it. And a ton of memories too

Just finished Part II. As it's closing out, Brooks, 'I'm not really a Jew, I'm a gentile born in Waco, Texas. And this isnt even my nose!' as he peels off a prosthetic nose...

At the risk of starting holy war, Risen is well done and good for the Lenten season.

I am not vouching for all accuracy, just well done from the Roman soldiers perspective.

So as much as season two of Landman sucked, the final episodes were pretty good. Might tune in for season three.

I am trying to hang with The Night Manager ... for some reasons hard for me to get invested; but will keep at it ... finished the first season but need to re-watch the final episode.

Same here. Just finished season 1. was a little far fetched.

So I've made it two movies over the last half week.

Crime 101. This is a pretty good caper movie. It's a bit of a throwback. It's not filled with chase scenes and shootouts. It's mostly a mind game with some interesting twists. I thought having Halle Berry play a woman whose company was losing interest in her as a salesperson because she's 53 was a bit of a stretch -- but then it turns out she's actually 59. How did that happen?

Mercy. Another crime movie. Chris Pratt has 90 minutes to convince an AI that there is reasonable doubt that he committed murder. He has access to all of the AI's info, but he's also coming off of being drunk. He is an experienced detective, though, so that gives him some insights we normal people might not have. Anyway, it starts a tad slow, but it builds in intensity pretty well. Several interesting twists--one of which I didn't see coming at all. Gets a little silly toward the end, but not a bad movie (also, only about 95 minutes or so)

Robert Duvall has left the building at age 95

One of the best foreign born (California) to play a Texan... Tender Mercies, Wild Horses, Secondhand Lions, The Apostle, One Night in Old Mexico, True Grit and several more

I got a chance to work with him on Secondhand Lions which was written and directed by a friend Tim McCanlies. Couldnt make it to the shooting area, Lockhart, Pflugerville areas as I was still and IT Mgr at a company in Dallas

One of my favorite actors. Even made bad movies enjoyable.

Quotes I admittedly say too often thanks to Bob D...one of the best.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning" - Apacolypse Now

"rubbin' is racing" - Days of Thunder

"you can't spell families without lies" - Four Christmases

Superb delivery

I'm better than Olivier.
- Robert Duvall

You know, Hollywood sometimes tends to patronize the interior of the United States. As Horton Foote used to say, the great Texas playwright, that a lot of people from New York don't know what goes on beyond the South Jersey Shore.
- Robert Duvall

To this day, I still think Lonesome Dove is my best part.

"Shorsey" - if you are a Ted Lasso or Letterkenny fan, this is probably your cup of tea. Letterkenny's co-creator Jason Kesso is the creator of it, stars in it and rips off some great lines. If you dont want to hear sexual inuendo or cussing, this is not for you.

but it you are used to folks talking like a sailor, it's pretty funny

It's base is Canadian hockey.

I think the funniest parts, because it's so true, are where to find the show you're looking for and the gap between seasons. Stranger Things kids are like 25 (not weird to cast a young 20s as 16-18 but noticeable when they were age appropriate to start the the show). Not that Silo is a great show but I would've watched the next season had it come a year after the last one. Now I don't even recall what happened and don't really care anymore.

Water cooler talk used to happen around shows and now everyone's like Andy Samberg strolling in like "Prime right? Max? What's that one?" Sadly sports has gone that way a bit too. Everyone used to simply watch the big game Saturday night and now conferences all have their own slots and people watch their league and morning sports talk is shorter.

This has allowed much more content to be created. My actor friends have much more opportunity to get on sets even if it's a crap show or movie it's still a resume line that can be found on a legitimate streaming service.

"Paul McCartney: Man on the Run" all about the breakup of the Beatles, Paul's post-Beatles career, Wings, etc

If you were a child of the 60s or 70's or even after if you love music from that period, this will pull some strings for you.

And offers the thought that Paul did not break up the Beatles, it was all John.

And after holding the title for nearly a decade, a group of young whippersnappers, Led Zepplin, took over the title as Worlds Greatest Band

'Wings' traveling England in a London double-decker bus with a bunch of mattresses where the band slept, playing universities, everyone making the same amount per venue, etc.

'Marshalls' - spinoff of Yellowstone.

Kayce has given most of Yellowstone to the local tribe. He kept a 'small' 5000 acre plot for himself along with 300 head. Some bad guys try to kill Rainwater, the tribe Chairman. He temporarily joins US Marshalls to hunt them down
