I see you and Michael might be back together. "Wanted 2" - hopefully the whole thing comes together. After the success of the first one, I can't see why not!

Just started Poker Face. First episode was pretty good. Interesting premise - seems tough to maintain momentum but let's hope so.

Then she starts getting political and kinda blows the whole show. I was fine with it until then. Why do writers insert politics in places where its not necessary?

Can't say I'm surprised. I just finished the third episode, which is based in Texas. There is a "talk radio show" playing often that is basically a fascist fever dream of what they imagine talk radio to be (although of course it sounds more like what one would get on The View).

It goes farther left as you go through the season. I just dont understand why they would risk alienating half their audience when they didnt have to

I finally got around to it and just finished the second season of Andor. Definitely my favorite of the non-movie Disney Star Wars productions.

If anyone has Disney + its definitely worth the time.

Last night watched the first 2 episodes of Alien Earth. I enjoyed them very much. I'm looking forward to the whole season. It's got more sci-fi themes like the original alien with not only the alien species but also artificial intelligence, robots, cyborgs, etc. I think this may be Ridley Scott's influence.

Thanks for that!

I was hoping it would be better than the last couple which really didnt work for me

Ridley Scott was EP on S1 E1 and David Zucker and Bob deLaurentis were EPs on S1 E2. That's some Hollywood big names

Excellent start so far!

I genuinely don't think most LWNJs really understand there are any people of value that do not goosestep with them through Berlin. I think that's why they have such TDS and would rather burn down the country than not be in charge ... they cannot fathom anyone of value would not see the world exactly as they do.

I dont want to politcially infect this thread, so let's not. My fault for bringing it up. Cool?

"Limitless: Live Better Now" with Chris Hemsworth (Thor)

Very cool show! Shows Chris doing different events to improve your brain and body.

First show is about Chris learning how to drum, something he's never done. Except he has to drum for Ed Sheeran in front of 70,000 fans in Romania.

Second show is about Pain. Watching it now

Working Man starring Jason Statham is now free on Prime if you're a member. It is like every other Jason Statham movie. For the mood I was in it was dumb fun. Another night I would've poked holes in it.

I put Statham and Adam Sandler movies in the same camp. They have a time and place and one or two I'll take to the grave as great films but sometimes I want Christopher Nolan or Spielberg

Wouldnt argue with that. Statham is great fun, but its pretty much the same movie over and over

Yeah, after Transporter, his best character, the rest are the same. I haven't watched a Sandler comedy movie since Zohan. That was the last one where he pushed the comedy envelope. Zohan reminded me of the old Monty Python talking about things no one talks about. I like his drama better.

Sandler

Comedies
Happy Gilmore
50 First Dates (he has good actors around him)
Waterboy

Drama (I think he was better in these 2 than the comedies)
Uncut Gems (his best)
Hustle (I loved it, these guys are/were all over New York. Guys that forgot more basketball than most ever know. Texas is that way with football coaches...)

Watched Happy Gilmore 2 the other day. Not very good, but you did get to see all the old characters one more time...

Watched "The Cobbler" on Hulu last week. Pretty bad. Sandler is a 5th-generation cobbler with a magic stitching machine. Whichever shoes you wore, he used that stitching machine on, you looked like them. Dustin Hoffman is in it too. Again, not very good, don't waste your time

My wife and I watched it. It was terrible. He needs to stick to drama with real actors, he can't carry a decent film.

It was every other one of his movies. I had slightly higher hopes with Michael Pena and the Stranger Things sheriff in it but they're mostly just cameos. I learned during opening credits that Stallone wrote the screenplay and was a producer. Stallone's best work will probably forever be Rocky.

I actually really liked Statham in the Melissa McCarthy comedy film Spy. He just lampoons all his movie characters.

I have a soft spot for Happy Gilmore and Waterboy. Was a good age when those came out. I also really like Punch Drunk Love. Quirky film from Paul Thomas Anderson. It's kinda like an auteur's take on an Adam Sandler film. Hustle was really good. Uncut Gems was very dark but Sandler was great as was Kevin Garnett playing a fictional version of himself.

Stallone is still in great shape. 79 yoa and looks amazing in Tulsa King. Arnold, not bad for 78, but nothing like Stallone

We started subscribing to Netflix again primarily because my wife really wanted to see The Thursday Murder Club. If you're not familiar with Osman's book series, it's worth checking out.

I found the movie a bit disappointing. I wish they'd done it as a series. They really oversimplified the story and made it not very interesting. Thought the movie was good for the first hour (primarily because of the actors), but the ending felt rushed.

Very good cast. Helen Mirren is especially good in her role. They just didn't have the time to really capture the characters.

Loved The Wedding Singer, not much of the rest.

Sandler is apparently a good guy. A great story. When Sandler was a student stuying acting, a prof took him out and told him frankly that he didn't have it and should not pursue it.

Many years later, Sandler now well known and established, was out with friends and saw the same prof. Sandler introduced the prof as the only teacher to ever buy him a beer.

I've probably seen it half a dozen times and parts of it another dozen (flipping through the channels always make me stop. Doesnt hurt that Brooklyn Decker and Rhianna are it...)
