Ate at Killen's in Heights last night. Great food and pineapple martini was next level awesome.
I ate there once and found it to be highly mediocre. On Waugh just past Washington avenue, right?

Did the patio at Rainbow Lodge last week and going to Ostia tonight.
Taking advantage of al Fresco places while the weather is nice, because it won't last

Made reservations for Annabelle Brasserie. New restaurant that is part of the Berg empire.

Anyone been yet? Recommendations on what to order?

Isn't the daughter of a regular poster here the Pastry Chef at Ostia?

It's expensive for sure. That said NoPo is a great value, IMO. Ambiance at Turners is hard to beat.

NoPo is his only concept I want to visit. Been to BB's, Sophia and no interest in returning to either of those.

How was Ostia?
A little disappointing. Waiter forgot about us a couple of times. the gnocchi was good, but advertised as having scallops but they were the little Bay Scallops... Beef Tartar was good as was the Focaccia. My Branzino was huge but lacked flavor other than the crispy skin.
So all in all it wasn't bad... just not Special. We thought Rainbow Lodge was better, and that back patio there is absolutely stunning.

Has anyone tried Koya? Its in the space where Caswell had REEF.

Bummer, I've had some really good meals at Ostia and their potatoes are amazing. Plus good wine list. But one time my wife's fish wasn't done properly and something else I've had was very meh, so I think they do have an occasional miss.

We used to love REEF before Harvey killed it, and my wife happened to drive by that corner the other day, and she saw this place was up and running.

glad the space is occupied, REEF was a beautiful space. You know he's back in a kitchen, he's running Post Script's kitchen right now. Caswell has battled some demons, his issues and divorce killed REEF, tbh, but he's a good dude by all accounts and happy he's back in a restaurant.

Anyone been to the new La Griglia? Looks like they have a new menu to go along with the new location.

Balboa Surf Club did not disappoint. Crispy oysters were one of the best dishes I have had in my entire life. Also the best crab cake I have ever had.

Took the family to Elro on Friday night. I think it was my fourth visit. Food has definitely improved. Every dish we had was on point. Pizza crust was great. Love their wine list

They screwed up my reservation, which totally pissed me off and I may never return, but I really love their wine list and we all enjoyed the food.

I have heard it is good. Nice report.

If you like seafood check out Josephines, too. We really liked it

not Houston related, but got to check off a bucket list foodie event last week. We spent a few days in Boulder and did the chef's table at Frasca for dinner one night with the wine pairings.

What a great, great night. We had so much fun, the food was great and the wine pairings were unreal. Amazing experience.

Definitely not cheap, but if you love eating out and restaurants, worth a splurge. Boulder a very cool little city to boot.

I had to cancel my Katami reservations because of the storm. Hopefully I can get over there later this summer. Looks amazing.

Have made reservations for the new La Griglia. Excited to see the new digs. I hear the menu has also changed a lot.

was in seafood mood so we hit up Caracol last night. We don't go often, but their food is just top notch.

We have some friends coming in from St. Louis to spend the weekend in Houston. I am in charge of food. They do not want anything supper nice, so no March or Le Jardiner

Friday Lunch to Sunday Brunch

They don't like Sushi.

Considering Little's, Navy Blue, Squable, Nancy's, TRex, maybe a drive to Pier 6. The Sunday buffet at Xochi or Hugo's is so good and such a deal. Truth might show up on the list.

I am a big fan of Tiki Bars so we will probably hit one or toe of those at night.

Where should I add to the list?

fair warning, and I think we talked about this, but if you go to Little's or Navy Blue, you will drop some serious coin. caviar service at Little's is awesome but pricey (of course)

I'd do Tiny Champions, good mix of food, cocktails and wine options

I was looking at that. Might be something I do later. Not everyone in this group is making the bacon like you.

recently tried Hudson House, which is a Dallas concept imported to Houston. Eh...

No wine really, so I won't go back. I think food is probably pretty good, we only had the oysters, and the martini was pretty good.

Friday I have a 11am apt with a client. When I am done I will try and grab something togo to bring home to Beaumont for dinner. Where should I go? I'll be in the Bellaire area.
