They've been changing it up every year and the media just goes along with it, maybe helping it… probably helping it. I usually have no qualms with Des but his remark showed the average ESPN commentator knows nothing about Big12 football and likely the ACC aside from Deion, Ward, and Dabo. Everyone else can jump off a bridge for all they care. 7-2 vs 7-2 in a still open Big12 title race and a key member of Gameday questions why he's picking that matchup. Pathetic. Don't believe I've heard on ESPN people question why Miami is ahead of SMU

If they had it their way they would not even play the season. They would just have 12 blue bloods in the playoffs.

Just look at all their preseason picks for stuff. They anoint teams as awesome before the season that are exposed early every year.

Just another reason there should be no rankings until after about week 7 or so.

Agree. I'm still not sure exactly how good Indiana is...but like how unapologetic that coach is.

And this is what those of us who've been arguing for a playoff for years said would happen. It makes normally irrelevant games in November suddenly relevant. Traditionalists wanted the regular season to be the playoff (I.e. if you lose 1, you're mostly done), but I like this better.

Yup today was a disaster for the B12. If ISU or ASU slip up before the title game the B12 might get left out entirely

I'm going to be a little upset if SEC and Big10 get multiple 3 loss teams into the playoff when Big12 will struggle getting a second team in, even if they only have 2 losses.

Be prepared to be upset. B12 isn't getting 2 in. No shot

2 seems unlikely. Fair enough. The playoff will be a sham if a 3 loss SEC or Big10 team gets in over Big12 champion which is what some are arguing for.

Ole Miss and Alabama should be disqualified from playoff contention. Alabama couldn't even score a touchdown against OU. If any 3 loss team makes it in then just know it's a all a sham to benefit bluebloods

Surely after this day of chaos they aren't seriously still talking about 4 SEC teams, right?

So let me see if I get this right....

The SEC is so strong because Bama and Aggy sitting at or near the top of the conference can be beat by two SEC bottom feeders OU and Auburn. That shows how strong the whole conference is.

In the B12 when 4-6 KU beats Colo at the top of the conference it shows how shtty the B12 is.

Did I do it right?

Alabama & Ole Miss should be effectively eliminated from contention already. They don't deserve to be in. But both will likely be considered and one or both will get in. That's how corrupt the ESPN Blue Blood Invitational is.

If the big 12 wants to be treated better, we need to gut it up out of Conference play and show up in the bowl games.

Yes, because the worst SEC team is still viewed as better than the best Big 12 school. SEC fans would argue a school like Auburn or OU would stillbe the favorite in a neutral site game against a BYU or Arizona State.

As such, don't be surprised if Big 12 does indeed get left out of the playoff. We're viewed as simply an upper G5 conference now in football.

Theh both beat Georgia though, and if Georgia wins SEC championship, committee will remember these wins.

True. But the rest of their schedules are meh. If this were any other conference, that would be more of a knock in Georgia for losing to subpar teams.

The committee will remain a joke so long as their SEC bias is so strong & obvious.

Georgia (9-2) still has a game with a Georgia Tech (7-4) team that beat Miami to go. Clemson (9-2) still has a game against South Carolina (8-3). Tennessee (9-2) has Vandy (6-5). Then there's Texas heading to College State for the first Texas/Texas A&M game in a while. Ole Miss faces a bad Mississippi State team in the Egg Bowl and Alabama and Auburn face off in the Iron Bowl.

Not to mention Ohio State/Michigan and Notre Dame heading to LA for USC although both Michigan and USC are having really bad years.

Rivalry week always produces some interesting results.

In general, a Ga Tech win, Clemson Win, Aggie win, Auburn win, Michigan win, and USC win are good outcomes. There's a decent shot that a 2 loss Notre Dame team with losses to Northern Illinois and a bad USC team drops out of the discussion altogether.

Still not sure what the best outcome is for Clemson and South Carolina and Tennessee and Vandy.

B12 has to schedule more of those games. All it can. Play anyone anywhere anytime. And be loud about it.

This. The Big 12 needs to schedule more of P4 games in the regular season and win at least 50% in them - with 16 Big 12 teams, that translates to 8 P4 out of conference regular season wins per season. That's reasonable and would reflect positively on the conference.

Otherwise, the reputation of the conference will continue to come up shorter and shorter over time.

Baylor is doing their job. We got SMU and Auburn next year. Followed by Auburn and Oregon the year after

Schools like TCU need to quit scheduling former Pac12 cupcakes like Cal and Stanford

Edit: 2026 might be SMU and Auburn again but I know we have Oregon sometime in the next couple years

The strength of the big 12 is going to be its depth. It will be important to have everybody in the league doing this.

Agreed on the scheduling of P4 opponents, but quite a few Big 12 teams will still lose those P4 games. Batting 50% is probably the most that could be hoped for without significant luck.

I think you're shooting to bat .500, and I think because the league is so balanced top to bottom the best way to do that is to have everyone scheduling those games up and down the rest of the P4. You may have to rack up a bunch of wins against Purdue, Mississippi State, etc., but that's OK. At least go and get those.

Because right now, I think the national assumption is that the bottom tier of the SEC and Big Ten are as good as the top tier of the big 12. If the only way to disprove that is racking up wins vs mid and lower level sec and b10 teams, so be it. But go ahead and schedule the top ones, too, to see how far you have to go.

If I was Yormark, I would work on coordinating this across the entire league and branding it. Something like the Outlaw conference. We will play anyone anywhere anytime.
