I love that Alabama lost. And without the excuses of half the team sitting out, not caring etc.

So far the complaints from the talking heads this playoff have sort of solved themselves. First it was the blowouts and then the mighty sec had the worst one and the blowout talk sort of went away. Then it was maybe ole miss or Alabama belonged and bama loses.

Now we just need ole miss to do the same and maybe an upset or two in the playoff games.

South Carolina was also a dark horse contender for CFP and they lost to Illinois.

Now we just need Ole Miss lose for SEC to sit the hell down.

Fairly certain they'll change seeding next year to eliminate guaranteed byes for conference champs. I mean how often do you see the #1 overall seed in any sport as an UNDERDOG in essentially their first round game.

Nect change should be to expand to 16, eliminate first round byes (those do no favors either) and have first two rounds at home. All these neutral site games start to add up for alumns and fans trying to travel to multiple games

So Notre Dame will be eligible for a bye next year? (If they get rid of conference champions)

Eh, Penn St has had an easy schedule and the best route to the final IMO

So teams that made the playoff earned 14 mil for the conference. Obviously the Big 10 and SEC got the most… no conference champion is left in the playoffs. More parity than people want to realize. Again anyone can be beat. The narrative of the dominant SEC needs to end

Agree with the sentiment, but another feather in Freeman's cap, I would think, is that he is the first Asian coach to make it this far. (mother is Korean)

Content of one's character and their abilities/expertise/performance should trump skin color and/or other unrelated personal attributes when discussing these types of things, but every ceiling shattered and milestone reached by a minority gets us closer to that being reality. When seeing the best of all demographics reach the highest levels of their vocation becomes commonplace, the discussion moves to expertise/performance rather than the novelty or rarity of that occurrence.

That's what the crowd who reflexively calls every minority and/or female hire or appointment a DEI-inspired decision (while ignoring how many mediocrities within their own demographics have been Peter principle'd to jobs they're not qualified to do well) seems to miss.

The sooner we get to a point where opportunities are equally available to all deserving candidates (and we're clearly making progress in this area), the sooner we can stop pointing out the race, gender, sexual orientation, etc., of the person doing a job and focus more on their achievement itself.

This video has the full quote. Freeman seems like a good dude that is easy to pull for.

Break out your tiny violins to play while listening to Kiffin still droning on about how the SEC got shafted by the CFP because people don't understand how hard it is to win in these SEC stadiums on the road.

Maybe he should ask Mark Stoops for advice on how to win on the road in the SECSECSEC, especially if it's your only conference win.

Here he is saying the B12 and ACC should be in a different league than the SEC and a handful of B1G teams.

I just can't stand the dude. He always seems so smug and comes across like he thinks he's the smartest person in the room.

Someone tweeted last night that Notre Dame is much easier to root for now with Freeman as their coach than they were with Brian Kelly. And I could not possibly agree more. Freeman seems like an awesome dude and a great coach. I'd like to see them win it all at this point.
