I've not met anyone who thinks he is a real demon.

However, his inactions to blatant and easily recognizable thuggery amongst a number of HIS hand picked players over the years greatly escalated the tarring and feathering of our beloved school. His inability to recognize and then admit he further exacerbated the self-imposed festering wound approaches demonic.

He could have easily either prevented or minimized the negative impact this fiasco had on so many people. He didn't. The BOR then brought him in to hear what he was going to do to fix the problem. He had no plan.

The real demons are the hoodwinked Baylor folks who are OK with the sad collateral damage and 4 years after the exposure still can't function.

Very good assessment Thee, thanks for your insight. Many of us feel the same. I won't lie, I miss those edge of your seat high scoring games because they were so exiting but CMR has a different style and there's nothing wrong with that. It's just more cerebral and calculated instead of the balls out, run what you brung, grass burning style that we grew to love during the CAB era. I agree that this year will be a real measuring stick year and they need to win at least 8 regular season games to claim improvement. 10 wins (including a bowl win) will be a huge improvement that I think would exceed most of our expectations for year 3. Although they did win a couple last year that was too close for comfort which could've easily gone the other way, I'm hoping for at least 6 or so wins this year where we seem to be in control of the game from wire to wire. That in itself would be an improvement to me personally (albeit a disappointing improvement overall).

This is the year for us to truly assess his value. We will know by October 19 in my opinion. I expect us to be 5-0 going into the OSU game in Stillwater on 10/19. Anything less than sitting at 6-0 on the morning of 10/20 will be a disappointment.

Overall I like him and his staff. Obviously he is not Art and his team projects a much different aura. Rhule's staff seems to coach and manage more like NFL than NCAA. The current Baylor rebuild is not an overnight fix and Rhule rightfully focused on OL and DL this recruiting season. Coaches, sports people and writers around the nation think the world of Matt. His assistant coaches have proven themselves worthy in college and pro football. This carries weight with recruits and should make alumni feel good about the mentoring process that extends beyond the field. This is not an in-bred staff.

The rebuild job Matt took takes time and overall he is slightly ahead of schedule given our bowl win over Vanderbilt in Year 2. I think given the predicament we found ourselves in that we got the right guy for the job and after a rough start we are on the right track.

We need to play injury free football until the depth catches up.
