Giannis, traded. Bucks will receive Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakuionis, three first-round picks, a first-round pick swap and one second-round pick, while also sending Bobby Portis to Miami

Should be what we got for Luka. Damn Nico.

Freshman

Dallas' hiring of coach Dusty May away from Michigan was an intriguing Monday headline, with all three Michigan prospects -- Aday Mara, Morez Johnson Jr. and Yaxel Lendeborg -- potentially on the board for the Mavericks at this slot. However, there is skepticism within the league about the extent of May's influence on this pick, with team president Masai Ujiri set to make his first selection in charge.
Rival teams have come to view Ament as a candidate for the Mavs, with his range starting at No. 6 with Brooklyn and another potential landing spot at No. 10 with Milwaukee. He would be an intriguing frontcourt partner for Cooper Flagg, creating a tall, skilled forward pairing with plenty of long-term upside.
The Mavericks have expressed openness to moving back in the draft, keeping their options open as they build around Flagg. The franchise has signaled to other teams that it plans to keep Kyrie Irving entering next season.

Mavericks
The Mavericks remain one of the more active teams on the trade front.

According to Siegel, Dallas has spent the past week exploring deals involving center Daniel Gafford and the No. 30 overall pick in an effort to move higher in the draft.

The Raptors and Hornets have been mentioned as potential trade partners.

As for possible targets, guards Cameron Carr and Labaron Philon are among the names reportedly generating interest from the Mavericks.

Kinda leaning toward picking Michigan's Yaxel Lendeborg PF with #9. Would be able to trade PJ Washington who never really matched up with Cooper Flagg. We also have the #30 pick. Maybe a package with PJ for another player or better pick?

There go the last of the top G's. Still some left but got some warts

Aday is a 7'3 center. Ament is a 6'10 SF/PF. Burries is a decent G but spotty shooting. Lendenborg is a big PF, 6'9, 255. Or a trade has been spoken with OKD, for the 12th and 17th

Strengths: Johnson is a tough big man with length and the agility to switch onto the perimeter on defense. He's a great athlete who runs the floor well and can finish plays around the rim. He cemented himself as a winning player with his effort and consistency.

Weaknesses: Johnson's offensive value is largely limited to finishing plays, and he's still developing a shot from 3-point range. He is also undersized for a center.

The verdict: Johnson helped his stock tremendously during Michigan's championship run, establishing himself as a bona fide first-rounder, showing growth as an all-around player and providing a defensive backbone for the Wolverines. While his scoring upside is limited, he has an NBA-ready frame, knows his strengths and should provide useful minutes as a rookie. -- Woo

Mavericks selected Morez Johnson Jr. with the No. 9 pick in the NBA Draft.
After initially entering his name into the draft with an open mind toward returning to Michigan for another season, Johnson shot up draft boards throughout the spring. And his defensive ability is a big reason why. During his lone season in Ann Arbor, the 6-foot-9, 250-pound forward/center averaged 13.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.1 blocks while shooting 62.3 percent from the field and 78.2 percent from the foul line. Johnson can be used at either the four or the five, with the latter role coming as part of a smaller lineup. Dallas hired Dusty May as their next head coach, and May just won a national championship with Johnson at Michigan. The two will reconnect and look to build a strong frontcourt alongside Cooper Flagg.

The Mavericks held the 30th overall pick, and after talk of possibly using a player like Daniel Gafford to trade up, they ended up trading up to the 25th pick with the New York Knicks to take Sergio de Larrea, a 6'7" guard from Spain.

The total deal, which included the Phoenix Suns and LA Lakers, as it was originally reported that the Mavericks were just trading the 30th pick to them, ended up looking like this:
Los Angeles Lakers Received: 24th Overall Pick (Cameron Carr, Baylor)
Dallas Mavericks Received: 25th Overall (Sergio de Larrea, Spain)
Phoenix Suns Received: 30th Overall (Koa Peat, Arizona
New York Knicks Received: Cash (Lakers), two second-round picks (Mavericks), and three more second-round picks (Suns)
The exact second-rounders are still to be finalized.
Sergio de Larrea is a 6'7" guard who averaged 9.7 PPG and 3.7 APG for Valencia as a 20-year-old. Despite his size, he handles the ball well and is great in the pick-and-roll, but he does struggle with turnovers. That may make him a better fit at shooting guard initially while he develops a tighter handle.

Dallas 2nd round pick:

"Tobi Lawal posted a 45.5-inch vertical at the Combine, the second-highest in NBA history. He's a show-stopping athlete at the four spot, with a penchant for flyaround shot-blocking. He will need to advance as a shooter and a decision-maker, on both ends, for the Clippers to get value out of this pick,'' wrote Kline.

It has been noted several times that Lawal's offensive game is going to be needed to be worked on at the next level, whether that's in the NBA or the G-League. He was a streaky shooter from the outside in his two seasons in Blacksburg for Mike Young, but there is no denying his athletic ability and the effect he has on the defensive end around the basket, altering shots and rebounding.

Overview
Vsevolod Ishchenko made his name early in Russia's youth basketball system, earning two VTB Youth April MVP awards while dominating the junior ranks for Lokomotiv Kuban-2, where he averaged 16.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.6 steals in 30.0 minutes per game as an 18-year-old. That production earned him a promotion to Lokomotiv Kuban's senior roster in the VTB United League, where he spent a limited 202425 season learning the pace and physicality of professional basketball. The jump came in 202526. Across 43 games for Lokomotiv Kuban, Ishchenko averaged 8.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 23.7 minutes per game on 51.6%/46.3%/80.1% shooting splits. He was named a VTB United League All-Star and took home the league's Young Player of the Year award.

Analysis
Ishchenko's efficiency stands out. He shot above 50% from the field and over 46% from three on respectable volume for a 20-year-old, and he got to the free-throw line frequently, cashing in at an 80% clip. That shooting touch, paired with a long frame, makes him dangerous on the perimeter. He moves fluidly in transition, attacks downhill with body control and absorbs contact at the rim. He reads passing lanes well on both ends of the floor and functions as a secondary playmaker, comfortably initiating half-court offense or swinging the ball ahead. Ishchenko's handle has room to tighten, which would unlock more creation ability against top-level defenders. Defensively, his length and active hands generate disruptions, and with continued focus on positioning and lateral discipline, he has the physical tools to become a reliable two-way player.

Projection
Ishchenko's combination of size, shooting efficiency and playmaking feel gives him a path as a versatile wing who can slot into multiple lineup configurations at the NBA level. His perimeter shooting translates immediately, and his ability to make reads as a passer adds a layer most wings his age don't offer. NBA comparisons to the prospect can be made to Franz Wagner and Dalano Banton.

The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly adding a veteran forward to their roster via trade.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Mavericks are trading for Memphis Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama. Dallas will send guard AJ Johnson, a protected 2030 Golden State Warriors first-round pick and two future second-round picks to Memphis in the move. The Mavericks will also acquire the draft rights to forward Tarik Biberovic, who was selected in the second round of the 2023 NBA draft.

Aldama has spent the last five seasons of his NBA career in Memphis, appearing in 278 games for the Grizzlies. The Spanish forward has averaged 10.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists throughout his stint in Memphis.

Meanwhile, Biberovic has yet to appear in an NBA game since he was drafted. The Bosnian forward is currently playing for Turkish club Fenerbahe in Europe.

Dallas is acquiring forward Zaccharie Risacher, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, from the Atlanta Hawks as part of a three-team deal that sends guard Ryan Nembhard to Atlanta, according to multiple reports. The move reportedly sends Oklahoma City Thunder wing Lu Dort to Atlanta in exchange for three second-round picks. ESPN was the first to report the move.

Why the Hawks traded former No. 1 pick Risacher after two years

Risacher is now on the Mavericks, joining 2025 No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg.

The simplest reason? Risacher just isn't good enough right now to help the Hawks get to where they want to go.

The French wing was taken with the first pick two years ago as part of a draft class widely viewed as one of the worst of the century. Atlanta moved up the lottery to claim the No. 1 selection but there was little fanfare because there was not a single prospect seen as truly generational. Every NBA draft brings useful players to some degree but it was rather difficult to see where those players would come from in 2024 and it was a near-universal opinion that it was severely lacking in star power.

As a result, the Hawks opted to bet on potential and went with Risacher No. 1. As a prospect his biggest positives were his young age, obvious athletic potential and elite dimensions. If things broke right, it wasn't hard to see a future in which Risacher developed into the sort of long, athletic two-way wing that every contender is searching for. But potential was all he had to offerRisacher scored a hair over 10 points per game in the top French professional league heading into the draft. Which is laudable for an 18-year-old but not exactly a statline that screams future All-Star.

He was a project, in other words. Two years later, he remains a project. To date Risacher has averaged 11.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists for his NBA career. His rookie season was solid, if unspectacular; at 19 years old the French wing scored 12.6 points per game while shooting 35.5% from three and finished second in ROY voting. But as the Hawks took a step forward to contention in Risacher's sophomore season, he took a step back. Risacher's scoring average dropped down to 9.6 in 202526 and he wound up dropping out of Snyder's rotation for a stretch in January. Risacher eventually made it back onto the floor for short spurts but was clearly not trusted as an option on the wing, a perception confirmed when he played 22 minutes total in Atlanta's six-game playoff series loss to New York.

There's still reason to believe Risacher can have a career in the NBA. He has good touch as a shooter and tries hard enough defensively that he can hamper most opponents, especially once his body fills out some moreRisacher is still only 21 years old. There's an outline of a passable three-and-D player in his game. But right this second, he is a net negative rotation player who can't be trusted to do much other than make the occasional shot. And the Hawks have no room for such players as the franchise tries to take a step forward.

Nevertheless, Atlanta wasn't trying to ditch him. Risacher's lucrative rookie contract meant he was the neatest salary to use in any trade as well as the most expendable player on the roster making over $10 million. The franchise sought to upgrade the roster with that salary and did so by landing Dort, an elite defender with championship experience, and a true point guard in Nembhard. They weren't looking to get off Risacher's deal at all costs, for whatever that's worth, but the opportunity presented itself.

Risacher's biggest flaw was that he didn't develop quickly enough for the organization's liking. If he proved worthy of playoff minutes this postseason then the Hawks might've rolled the dice that he could be part of their young core along with Jalen Johnson and Nickeil Alexander-Walker going forward. But he remains too big of a question markif and when he'll become a good enough player to help a championship team (and what kind of player he will be if that happens) is totally up in the air.

Atlanta decided to chase a known quantity in Dort instead. And it's hard to blame them.

He revealed that Irving has fully recovered from his ACL tear in February 2025 and has had conversations with the new Dallas Mavericks management members.
