What a great trade for Dallas! Christian Wood is an excellent addition for the Mavericks:
The Utah Jazz requested permission to interview Dallas Mavericks assistant Sean Sweeney for the franchise’s head coaching job, sources tell ESPN. Sweeney also interviewed for Charlotte’s opening in this cycle.

LEAK: Dark horse candidate for the Utah Jazz - Dallas Mavericks Assistant Sean Sweeney.
Sweeney is a rising star and defensive mastermind. Longshot candidate to keep on the radar.

The Dallas Mavericks will once again explore signing Goran Dragic as a free agent this summer. Dragic was linked to Dallas last year after being bought out by the San Antonio Spurs, but the veteran guard chose to sign with the Brooklyn Nets.
Dragic is a Slovenian countryman of Mavs star Luka Doncic. The two teamed up to lead Slovenia to the 2017 EuroBasket title.
The 36-year-old guard has indicated no desire to retire, despite what was a frustrating season for him. Dragic was traded from the Miami Heat to the Toronto Raptors last offseason. After a brief appearance in Toronto, Dragic was shelved, then shipped to the Spurs in a trade deadline deal, before working a buyout with San Antonio.
Dragic struggled to find much of a rhythm in the regular season but was one of Brooklyn's better players in their first-round playoffs loss. That performance showed he has enough left in the tank to help a title contender.

ESPN released their first NBA Power Rankings for the 2022-23 season: way-too-early edition Friday morning, putting the Mavericks at fifth going into next season, the third team in the Western Conference. Tim MacMahon wrote of the Mavericks:Quote:
The Mavs are confident that they will re-sign Jalen Brunson in the wake of their run to the West finals. He will likely again be Dallas' second-best player, behind Luka Doncic, as GM Nico Harrison is handcuffed by the Mavs being well into luxury tax territory with limited first-round picks to dangle in trade packages. The Mavs filled one major need by trading for high-scoring center Christian Wood a deal that will become official on draft night and are expected to target a rotation wing in free agency.
ESPN Sources: If Kyrie Irving can’t reach an agreement to stay with Brooklyn, he has a list of teams he’d like them to consider on sign-and-trades, including Lakers, Clippers, Knicks, Heat, Mavs and 76ers. None of those teams have cap space to sign him without Nets’ help.

pretty sure this was insurance in case Brunson leaves. Dont think the kid is ready for any more than backup Pg and Sg but that would be one heck of a story if he isvanillabryce said:

Undrafted free agent big man Marcus Bingham out of Michigan State has agreed to an exhibit 10 contract with the Dallas Mavericks, league sources tell @YahooSports.

Apparently he had a mid season bought with Covid or he would have been draftedAssassin said:
The Mavericks will sign Michigan State's Marcus Bingham to an Exhibit 10 contract, tweets Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
The seven-footer played four years for the Spartans and is an accomplished shot blocker, but didn't become a full-time starter until his senior season. He averaged 2.2 rejections per game this year, along with 9.3 points and 6.3 rebounds.
An Exhibit 10 deal is a one-year, minimum-salary contract that counts toward a team's 20-man offseason roster limit, but doesn't count against the cap unless the player makes the regular season roster. Although it's not guaranteed, a player on an Exhibit 10 contract can earn a bonus of up to $50K if he's waived and then joins his team's G League affiliate.
