Richaun Holmes waived his $1.8 million trade kicker in his deal from the Sacramento Kings to the Dallas Mavericks.
This allowed the Mavericks to improve their offer sheet to Matisse Thybulle, but the Portland Trail Blazers opted to match.
The Mavericks still have the non-taxpayer midlevel exception to use and are $10.9 million under the first luxury tax apron.

Dirk Nowitkzi is adding one more jewel to his crown this week in being inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, during a weekend of ceremony and celebration in Springfield, Massachusetts. A first-ballot selection, the Dallas Mavericks legend is joined by a decorated class of inductees, featuring the likes of Gregg Popovich, Tony Parker, Pau Gasol, and Dwyane Wade among others. Festivities will begin on Friday.

Dallas tied a franchise record by making 15 first-half 3-pointers (in 26 attempts) and finished with 23 treys in 47 attempts (over the Griz last night). It certainly helps that Doncic is off to the most dominant start of his career, with averages of 39.0 points, 11.6 rebounds and 9.6 assists.

"He's phenomenal," Jones said. "I'm 100% so happy that I'm here playing with him and I don't have to guard THAT no more."

Mavericks governor Mark Cuban is selling majority interest in the franchise to Miriam Adelson, the widow of Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, a person familiar with negotiations confirmed Tuesday to The Dallas Morning News.

Cuban, 65, would maintain operational control, even though Adelson, 78, and her family would own a greater than 50% stake, the person said, without divulging the percentage that the Adelsons are purchasing.

The "good" version of THJ is exactly what this team needs. I don't know if he was going to give it to them as bad as he's recently been, but it would make this team a really tough out.

Defense has been missing for a few years. They really got a couple of good role players in those trades this year. And Lively has turned into quite the force in the middle
