How many were still getting paid and how many were just names of dead people still on the roll? I hear SS had a 98.5% accuracy rate. Its good to get it cleaned up but names of long dead people not getting paid wont save anything. I noticed Elon stopped attaching numbers to many of the decisions he is making.

  • High Accuracy:
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a payment accuracy rate of over 99%, meaning that the vast majority of benefits are paid correctly.

  • Improper Payments:
While the accuracy rate is high, some improper payments do occur, accounting for less than 1% of total payments.

  • Causes of Improper Payments:
These improper payments are typically caused by mistakes or delays in the system, with overpayments to living beneficiaries being the most common type.

  • Overpayment Recovery:
The SSA is legally required to recoup overpayments, and they have various methods for doing so, including withholding future benefits.

  • Safeguards:
The SSA has many safeguards in place to prevent improper payments, including rigorous protocols to stop paying benefits to deceased individuals.

that 98.5% comes to a loss of $71.8 Billion dollars...
so if he has bumped it up to 100% accuracy it will save taxpayers almost 72 billion S. Can you point to a link that says that?

The report you guided me to says there was 72,8 billion incorrectly paid and that most but not all were overpays.. Probably up to 99% correct.
Still, $72 billion overpaid. That is one hell of a saving for the US if they scratch that back

Agree on 72 billion. If we can tighten it up, all for it.

Question on what is the acceptable standard for an agency doing its job correctly? 99% considered incompetent should be fire? Maybe the systems are antiquated and need to be updated? 99% accuracy does not sound like a job incompetency, do away with the Agency level issue. This sounds like a scale vs process issue. Nothing is 100% at that scale.
Personally I have my doubts that it is operating at 99%. I have no proof of that, but I also can't prove that Oswald shot JFK. The proof of the 99% comes from the leftist era. Now that Musk is directing it, we will know a lot more about how good or bad SS really is
Your trust in Elon is incredible. See a pattern?

Yes. But it only means he is a very friendly guy and thinks only of others as he tears down his compeitition.

No. It would be less. your number is the amount attached to mistakes. It includes overpays and underpays. It does seem like a lot of money. But the amount lost is under 1%.
We are talking scale, the most underutilized concept... The issue is inefficiency at large numbers. Small errors become huge impacts. It is a significant amount of money because of the US population that pay in and receive benefits out. 1% is not a sign of negligence, dereliction or criminal behavior. Definitely not firing offense.

I do trust Musk after so much theft by the Democrats. They didn't ask him for his help in cleaning up America as they knew what he would find. And he's found it, by the billions

In your eyes what makes him so trusty? His fidelity to the republican party? His paternal skills? His honesty? The fact he sucks up to Trump while he relies on billions of dollars of loans and gifts from our government to produce inefficient cars? His willingness to replace satelites with his satelite brand? The love he shows for his ****** kid that grew up in a single parent home while he was flinging his seed afar?

You worship him because he is rich dont you?

This is not a very well-thought-out or eventful post. It only shows your hatred for Elon Musk. That blinds you to the good he is currently doing for OUR country

You really have no idea!

DOGE is exposing lots of fraud & abuse. This will enable Trump to clean up much of the mess, especially combined with all the other concrete steps he has taken. Shutting down the Dept of Education is an excellent example. Same with USAID.

There is more to a Presidential term than USAID. As I have said, he did some good things, but some very questionable too. Stuff that if Biden or Obama did your head would spin...

Biden repeatedly ignored the Supreme Court when it ruled that the president has no authority to forgive student loans. And then he bragged about it.

No, he found a loophole. That is how these legal things work. You do a thing a certain way, it's illegal. Slightly different way, same exact thing, it's fine.

What was the loophole?

You should read about it yourself. He tried 3 times I think, all different ways. First 2 got shut down. I really don't know much about it, just that I'm opposed to paying off someone else's loan on principle.

That is probably a crime. Throw his butt in jail & fire him. But that won't happen because the fascists who run that state think the laws exist only so they can persecute Christians, republicans, pro-lifers, etc.

Not a single one of those jobs can be justified. Why should the federal govt be handing out cell phones to anyone except maybe a small number of govt employees to use in official business?

there are a vast number they dont need.. the volume of empty govt property is astounding. Add to it the number of buildings that are good for 500-800 employees and they currently house 25-100(usually less than 10% occupied) also the amount of stuff in storage is nuts. Probably 100k sq foot just used as storage of old office furniture and equip

It's easier to defend Trump when he is delivering on his promises than it is to believe anything from the fascists who are obsessed with killing babies, mutilating and poisoning children, cannot define "woman", and are determined to steal our money to waste it on stupidity & fraud.

What is the obsession with Biden? He lost, he is gone. Trump is President, his turn in the pickle barrel..

No arguments on Biden, absolute disaster. Worst President in my lifetime and I saw LBJ, Nixon, Carter, Obama, and W. Nixon is only there because of Watergate.

That said, Biden being an idiot and disaster isn't justification or defense for Trump's acts. The two are separate, have nothing to do with each other. Just because Hunter is an ******* and sold artwork, doesn't give Trump free license to market his own Bitcoin while the sitting President.

The four ones I have are:

1- DOGE and Elon Musk running around cutting programs with no accountability that they are actually saving what they say. There is no oversight or way to confirm anything. For example, a 1.9 trillion dollar contract for the IRS was cancelled in 2024, no money spent, yet it is a DOGE cut???? Also, will they be savings or just re-allocated? So far, we are not seeing reductions, at least looking at the 1st quarter, gonna be interesting moving forward.

2 - Greenland - Are we taking over Greenland? Is this Hawaii 2? They have said they are not interested and Denmark is not willing to step out. Did you hear Vance's speech? Everyone is good? This is going to make Iraq look legit...

3- The Putin love affair? This one is really puzzling. He has the US on the side of Russia, China and Iran in Ukraine and turning his back on 70 years of US European strategy.

4 - Bitcoin?

5 - Using Executive Orders against enemies and private sector companies that question or use the courts. This Authoritarian use of the system is Franco-ish...

Not necessarily against, just need to be scrutinized heavily and Congress has to be on board. Can't keep operating by Executive Order.

(This list does not mean I am questioning everything or that everything is bad. He is doing great on some fronts.)
