I only have two bottles of Blanton's. Is that enough for everyone?

Good thing it's Blanton's and not Booker's. A bottle each of that and someone could end up in the ER (Bookers is 132 proof for those who are unfamiliar)

Cauliflower was delicious and a great portion size. I did HRW and had the pistachio crusted fish and it was amazing. My desert wasn't great, but wifey ordered the donuts and coffee ice cream and it was awesome.

I really liked the food, but did not like how close the tables were (esp now during covid), how hot it was, and the fact that they only had beer and wine.

Hitting Georgia James Tavern tomorrow night. Meeting some friends for a glass of wine before. Anyone have a favorite wine bar near there or near The Houstonian?

Ate at Riel tonight. Last minute so only reservation opening was at 5. Lol. But we enjoyed the heck out of our meal.

Well I had fun there one night.

Hit 13 Celsius and had a great time. Our friends bought us a Dorien Grand Cru Champagne to start our evening. We sat outside and it was pleasant. If I loved close by I would love to be a regular there.

We then moved to Georgia James Tavern. We sat on the patio which was hot a S H I T. They said they are working on getting some fans.

Had the pimento cheese and an awesome spinach salad to start. We split a 32oz aged bone in ribeye and a Cuban sandwich. Ended with a piece of chocolate cake and bourbon ice cream.

Somm helped us with wine, started with a nice Riesling and moved to a great Spanish Garnacha by Alto Moncayo.

Great vibe, but sit inside. Next time I'd grab a burger and the salad and be good.

yeah, if you are just being social it can be a fun spot, I was too harsh in my reaction. It isn't a place to be a wine geek, but that isn't what everyone wants to do on a Saturday night out.

Visited Le Jardinier at Kinder building at the MFAH. Beautiful restaurant.

Started with a fancy color changing gin and tonic.

Had the tasting menu which was very good. I'll attach some photos later.

Had a bottle of Sandhi Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay for the first couple of courses. Switched to Joseph Drouhin Beaune Clos des Mouches which was very nice.

Overall a great meal. would go back for sure.

I enjoyed it. I won't be running out again anytime soon there. The tasting menu was $130, plus a cocktail each, plus the wine. I think we were in for close to $500 a couple after tip etc.

Went to Nobie's last week and had a great meal. $210 per couple with tip... had 2 bottles of wine, cocktails, dessert and lots of apps so reasonable value for all we ate.

Plus the food was really on point.

I like how the tiny portions on the big bowls and plates to remind me where my money is going. I think I will stick to Georges where my chicken fried steak is falling off the plate and my bottle of beer is cold.
