There are many of DOGEs findings I agree, most are programs that hav lapsed or ended. Billions of dollars. No issues, the results of year over year budgeting. That is waste. I think a constitutional amendment requiring zero based budgeting once every ten years is needed. The USAID, I agree. Foreign aid to nations not supporting US interests. Too many social research programs. Too many academic boondoggles. There are numerous cuts I am good with happening.

FAA, NASA, NWC, Interior all provide either capabilities, safety or services. I want to preserve those. I want National Parks having fire MGT and pro rangers. I want more weather capabilities. FAA having more air traffic controllers and NTSB investigators. I want us to go to Mars and mine asteroids. Those areas should be funded.

Let's start with NHTSA and Musk cutting the AV rule making.
Bureau of Land Mgt restrictions of spending, which impacts fire response
NOAA staff reductions, responsible for maritime, agriculture and other industries. Not just your ski trip.
FAA 300 maintenance mechanics, aeronautical information specialists, aviation safety assistants and management and program assistants.
FDA cuts

These are not USAID or Dept of Ed cuts. These are all line agencies with distinct missions that impact safety. Sorry, this is more than waste cutting

I'll put it very succinct, Tesla should not be making these decisions for NHTSA (3 of the firings involved 3 of the 7 people responsible for AVs) and SpaceX should not be making these decisions over the FAA. SpaceX has been in fights with the FAA over flight paths, now those people are gone... SpaceX wanted to have flights over populated areas, look it up. Musk is creating the environment HE wants, that is best for him, not you and I.

I think everyone of these congressmen who actually get out in front of their constituents and do these townhalls should wear some type of ribbon or medal in congress... bcs mine hides behind closed doors and once every two years does a scripted telephone town hall

utterly wrong. That is exactly what we have to do.

USG will raise about $5T this year in revenues, and spend about $2T. The deficit is 40% the size of revenue. You cannot economize your way out of that kind of imbalance. You have to economize + do less of some things + none of other things + grow revenues by growing the economy +(some tariffs). One can debate the steps, but not the pathway. There is no other path to a balanced budget that will not include doing less, divesting of functions, operations, assets, and finding ways to raise revenues, etc.....

Not everything Govt does is essential, ya know.

I asked a doctor friend back when Obamacare was a hot issue - "how do we spend less on healthcare?"
His answer was immediate - "we have to do practice less medicine."
You cannot significantly cut spending without significantly cutting activity levels.

You do this. I am talking public safety in real physical terms, infrastructure, travel, weather for maritime/ag, food safety, and product safety standards. You come back with health care and other "programs".

No ****, health care has waste that needs to go. Just go to the doctor and try to figure out insurance. No ****, USAID is misused.

There are government services that the private sector do not want to do because it is not profitable. Weather is a perfect example, there is more to weather than WAZE and Weather Channel. My son works in maritime, they constantly are working with the NWS, USGS, Coast Guard and Private Sector. NWS, NOAA and USGS provide information that the private sector calibrate off. The Govt is not all waste. Just because Trump doesn't like it doesn't mean it needs to go.

easiest path to spend less on healthcare is to fix why people get sick. Remove subsidies from junk food, remove garbage from processed food, teach the kids and parents to think differently. The majority of health issues are cardio metabolic driven.

Also, get drug ads off TV and print. If aint OTC, it shouldnt be on TV

utterly wrong. That is exactly what we have to do.

USG will raise about $5T this year in revenues, and spend about $2T. The deficit is 40% the size of revenue. You cannot economize your way out of that kind of imbalance. You have to economize + do less of some things + none of other things + grow revenues by growing the economy +(some tariffs). One can debate the steps, but not the pathway. There is no other path to a balanced budget that will not include doing less, divesting of functions, operations, assets, and finding ways to raise revenues, etc.....

Not everything Govt does is essential, ya know.

I asked a doctor friend back when Obamacare was a hot issue - "how do we spend less on healthcare?"
His answer was immediate - "we have to do practice less medicine."
You cannot significantly cut spending without significantly cutting activity levels.
easiest path to spend less on healthcare is to fix why people get sick. Remove subsidies from junk food, remove garbage from processed food, teach the kids and parents to think differently. The majority of health issues are cardio metabolic driven.

Also, get drug ads off TV and print. If aint OTC, it shouldnt be on TV
