I need further info on March not being 2 star. What does it take for a 2 star?

Great question, and I'm not really sure. Theoretically, 1 star is all about the food and 2 takes into account service/atmosphere... hard to believe March is failing on that one, as the lounge and dining room are amazing, IMO.

I love Rosie's

Anyone check out the Chronicle's top 100 list? Any thoughts or complaints?

Headed to a client dinner at Musaafer in Houston (Mich 1star). I've heard good things and will be trying them out.

How was it? My Indian friends scoff at it.

I wouldn't call it "authentic" Indian food. There is definitely some fusion going on here. But it is really excellent.

Has anyone been to the Toasted Coconut recently? I have never been but thinking about heading there for lunch Saturday. I recall it being mentioned in this thread. Have heard the burger is very good - any other recs?

not in over a year, but went to their other 2 restaurants in December and they were great, so no reason not to think Toasted is still hitting on all cylinders.

It was great! I had the fried chicken sandwich and wife got the burger. Burger was fantastic! Will go back in Spring on nice day and have run drinks on patio.

What are their other restaurants?

It looks like Mala Sichuan now has 4 or 5 locations. I have only been to the Chinatown location (years ago). Anyone been to the ones inside the Loop and any feedback on the menu and interior? The build out in Chinatown is pretty sparse. Thinking about hitting Shepherd or Montrose location this weekend but appreciate any feedback if we should hit the original if it is the best option. TIA!

Edit: we frequent Del Vista on Voss and hit it last weekend. Food is very good and reasonable wine list. Recommend if looking for casual Italian. It is the old chef from La Vista and a lot of same menu items.

Get food from the Mala in Montrose (Westheimer at Montrose) all the time. Very good. It is okay inside, a little nicer look that the one out in Chinatown, but small. My son and his fiance like to eat there.

visited an old classic last night.. Vinoteca Poscol. Had a heck of a meal with multiple glasses of wine and a shared desert totaled $150 with tip. Not a bad value. All Italian wine list but it isn't the most inspiring. Prices are reasonable.
