The only, and I mean only way this doesnt blow all cred this season with fans and players and coaches is if rhule and rhodes instantly discredit espn and their source.

Get out in front and deny it, sign the record class, business as usual. Train, summer ok drills, fall comes and start 3-0. By beginning of fourth quarter this will be forgotten and written off as fake news by stupid espn.....

Or...

This blows up because bu sucks at all things in managing a story much less a crisis. Parents of prospects get pissed, coaches across state begin serious doubts where once there was trust. Several recruits bow out. Class falls apart. Rhule gives it a season and bolts back to NFL, bu left holding the bag. BoR pray some more. Find some more big money donors who pledge to help payoff a dwindling palace now resembling a post olympics ghost venue. Real estate values along the river and cbd flatline. Milli and thee continue to go see more freshman and walk ons in 2019 under the guideance of interim coach joe schmoe.

Not when he flirted with tech to the point of a contract he considered, he only returned because he thought rg3 might win a heisman.

Guy's why are y'all acting like he is bolting?? No one will give him the opportunity to bolt. That said he is gone in a year if we dont win at least 6. I'm almost sure of it now. It was pure idiocy for him to seek an interview with another job at this time.

Only Baylor Grads are "emotionally invested" in Baylor Football....or any other football job / school.

You guys dont get it...take whatever profession your in or company you work for and ask yourself if you or anyone else has the dedication you expect in your Coaches....

Sports aren't immune from the working world....it's just a job to them exactly the way it is to my accountant and exactly the way it is to most of us.

Better offer, bigger stage, right fit?....gone.

The context is different in every industry. When you roll in here saying God told you to, suck it up and make excuses about long-term process, but then punch out before there have been any fruits, you look like a giant ****** bag. When it comes to recruiting and filling the stands, that matters. Rhule shouldn't be torching any goodwill at this point.

Upon further consideration, if this is true we should fire his ass.

I do not expect coaches to be loyal, but I do expect them to have a modicum of personal pride. What kind of person spends one year at a place going 1-11, makes excuses about a long-term process, and then seriously entertains leaving that quickly?

And didn't he say that God called him here? Did God just move to Indianapolis?

Don't pimp out Jesus if you don't even mean it.

If this is not true, then let's move on down the road and try to win some damn football games.

Let me add one more item to this list. If true, it was colossally stupid. There's no way he's getting that job. Why risk alienating your current team, recruits, and fan base?

I imagine he figured he could do the interview without it becoming public information.

Is that a realistic thought for him to have in this day and age?

It was in 1992, the year he got his offense.

6 pages and those who went off about Briles interviewing for other jobs are absent.

The ones who showed up dismiss this as "business as usual" or "part of the game" and other phrases because they can't admit that maybe Rhule is not what they thought and is clearly using this job to get a blue blood school or NFL job.

If nothing is posted or stated soon to discredit then Homeboy is a massive fraud. Spare me the "this is a business BS". The guy claims he was called to Baylor by God and preached this huge process of gonna take time. He gets de-pants all season and goes 1-11 while telling his kids and fans not to quit on him bc he won't quit on them. You might as well go ahead and quit if your taking interviews after all the BS you spewed. If true and this leaked, then I'd hate to be the guy right now as he looks his players and new recruits in the face.

Hopefully this is a bad rumor and will hopefully see this discredited soon.

Oh please God. PLEASE make it happen!!! Coach Rhule is a good man with a good heart and deserves and NFL job. If you can get him a job with the Colts, Lord, I will promise to stop looking at porn and and using the Lord's name in vain. Thank you God.

It would not be a good thing this late in the hiring season and probably just as bad as when Briles was fired.

Nah. That was a lot worse. It was summer, and Briles was really good.

We would probably lose yet another recruiting class and start from scratch. Again. Just as bad no matter what system the coach tried to install.

What class? We already signed one for this year for the most part. The only risk is hiring someone worse, but no way they have a worse first year. Also, they'd still have spring to install a system, which presumably we'd be doing with Rhule on offense (again) anyway.

The only downside is that Rhule somehow becomes a great coach after starting 1-11 and his replacement turns out to be a bust. We'll never know both of those, though, so I'll take my chances with the new guy.

Unfortunately nobody else will hire him unless he succeeds here. He's just burning bridges like a moron.

Guess who is going to force us to release recruits, again?

No "scandal" to force that genius. Of course the guys in charge are limp-wristed pencil necks, so maybe they'd release them anyway?

Seriously though, we got out of him the only thing he's proven to be good at, and losing him now is ideal timing. Firing him in a the early signing day era would be awful. Losing him after it is perfect.

It's pretty difficult to get an interview, a job offer or to get The Baylor faithful to fall in love if you don't roll with the "god led me here" one liner...

It's in the handbook.

Once again you miss-word what would otherwise be an astute self-critique.

Briles had a tech contract waiting for him and backed off, not a point of contention or debate, just a matter that happened.

You don't have to like that it happened but it did.

Contract on table? Texas...absolutely correct and I can tell you the hotel they were in and who was in the room.

Tech....never got that far...they wanted it to, but Baylor jumped fast and hard and Ian locked him down before they could get serious.

You don't think the Big 12 would force it again because it would only be "fair" to those recruits? I wish I could believe that wouldn't be true.
