Possibly, but most of the people up in arms here just hate Rhule for sport...they sure didn't mind when Briles flirted with Tech and had an offer on the table or flirted with UT instead of preparing his team for a bowl.

It's a business, interviews happen, Rhule isn't likely going to the NFL just yet though.

If he leaves we ought to call that new OC at Houston and see if he wants to interview.

I didn't think he would bolt until he was winning but I always thought he would leave for another job.

If he does leave - big if - we should all give thanks we had 22 recruits sign in the early December period.
We'll get pressured to release them from their LOIs. Especially since February signing day is still ahead.

Upon further consideration, if this is true we should fire his ass.

I do not expect coaches to be loyal, but I do expect them to have a modicum of personal pride. What kind of person spends one year at a place going 1-11, makes excuses about a long-term process, and then seriously entertains leaving that quickly?

And didn't he say that God called him here? Did God just move to Indianapolis?

Don't pimp out Jesus if you don't even mean it.

If this is not true, then let's move on down the road and try to win some damn football games.

Let me add one more item to this list. If true, it was colossally stupid. There's no way he's getting that job. Why risk alienating your current team, recruits, and fan base?

Because his ego is the size of his recently adopted state. I'm sure he believes he should get the job.

I told everyone when the interview happened that people would freak if they knew what interview questions were asked. The board made it clear that their social agenda trumped all.

When you have a broken process, you end up with a bad product.

Always.

That be horrible to go through again. I'd assume the AD has to be a little upset with this.

Disagree on negativity about interview.

You have to take the interview. Makes for better negotiations down the road and makes him look respected....you always interview....good practice and grows your network.

Bet no other Big 12 Coach got asked to interview.

Thinking emotionally about this leads to all the teeth gnashing and internet outrage...settle down ladies.

I d bet in 5 years all of them will be talking to the NFL and in 10 years college football will be like college basketball today facing the NBA setting a paying league that offers players a chance to make as much money as college offers under the table.

Complimentary interview. He'll still be gone in time. Herman will go to the NFL as well.

No milli that's where your wrong. Several of were not impressed with Briles doing those interviews. But I expected and expect more from Rhule. I have given this man the benefit of the doubt and if he doesn't improve this season after pulling this crap, then he needs to find some place else where God wants him to be!

Honest question. Why does Rhule want to leave at this point? He was given a zillion dollars with a long contract and has landed some good recruiting classes. There will never be less pressure in a big time job than what he has now. And if he does well here he will have a mountain of opportunities in a few years. It smells like he's panicking for a way out.

Because he's a climber. He's just using these kids for his good.

It would not be a good thing this late in the hiring season and probably just as bad as when Briles was fired.

Nah. That was a lot worse. It was summer, and Briles was really good.

We would probably lose yet another recruiting class and start from scratch. Again. Just as bad no matter what system the coach tried to install.

It could not be nearly as bad. We now do not have anywhere near as much to lose.

So just as reliable as the venerated ESPN journalists?
Just to be clear, you don't think it's true that he interviewed with the Colts?

Dunno. I'd rather see it break from someone else than ESPN. I thought this board didn't believe anything ESPN said, now they are speakers of truth because it fits their agenda? Yeah, it is possible he did interview, but he just came off a 1-11 season and I have a hard time believing an NFL not named the Browns would even consider the thought.
Colt and Smoak are reporting it. Is that enough for you? It's doubtful that the Colts would actually make this hire (unless Rhule is that good of a salesman, and with the recent recruiting class, he just might be), but the real issue is Rhule himself going for an interview after just ONE season here, and a horrible season at that.

They just carried on the report from ESPN. Like I said, I would hope he would get out in front of this.

Usually when you have a broken down car, it's better to just buy a new one instead of constantly taking it to get repaired...and that applies to lemons as well.

Only Baylor Grads are "emotionally invested" in Baylor Football....or any other football job / school.

You guys dont get it...take whatever profession your in or company you work for and ask yourself if you or anyone else has the dedication you expect in your Coaches....

Sports aren't immune from the working world....it's just a job to them exactly the way it is to my accountant and exactly the way it is to most of us.

What class? We already signed one for this year for the most part. The only risk is hiring someone worse, but no way they have a worse first year. Also, they'd still have spring to install a system, which presumably we'd be doing with Rhule on offense (again) anyway.

The only downside is that Rhule somehow becomes a great coach after starting 1-11 and his replacement turns out to be a bust. We'll never know both of those, though, so I'll take my chances with the new guy.

Unfortunately nobody else will hire him unless he succeeds here. He's just burning bridges like a moron.

Keep being inconsistent ad unhinged every day about an amateur football program.

It's just hysterical how anything and everything makes you meltdown.

A coach you don't like interviewed with the pros when they asked to visit, not a great look for long term commitment but scarcely unheard of and perhaps let us know where we stand since our last two coaches have entertained interviews with other programs...but for some reason only this one bothers you, and you don't even like the coach in the first place.

Not going to disagree. The problem isn't if he leaves now, but the damage if he doesn't get the job. That understanding works for us old timers not being asked to commit the next several years of our lives to a program and its coaches. And you and I both know what a coach means to a player.
