Ive said it before, but when you are 36T in debt and run a deficit of 2T... stuff has to be cut or eventually its all cut.

2T is a lot of cuts man. I need to see you start making suggestings to get us in the black before I take you serious.
We are in this mess because they gave away trillions of dollars not to work. You are not getting in the black anytime soon being 33T in the hole. Cutting real capabilities is not a responsible way to do it. Obama, Trump and Biden really put us in a hole over the last 20 years. You are looking at 50 years to climb out of this mess, not having weather or aviation safety capabilities is not where cuts should be made.

I dont disagree. But when I mean in the black, I just mean the budget. I have yet to see you propose how we might do that... You just fight against every single cut they announce.

That could be done in one year.
"cutting real capabilities is not a responsible way to go it...."

utterly wrong. That is exactly what we have to do.

USG will raise about $5T this year in revenues, and spend about $2T. The deficit is 40% the size of revenue. You cannot economize your way out of that kind of imbalance. You have to economize + do less of some things + none of other things + grow revenues by growing the economy +(some tariffs). One can debate the steps, but not the pathway. There is no other path to a balanced budget that will not include doing less, divesting of functions, operations, assets, and finding ways to raise revenues, etc.....

Not everything Govt does is essential, ya know.

I asked a doctor friend back when Obamacare was a hot issue - "how do we spend less on healthcare?"
His answer was immediate - "we have to do practice less medicine."
You cannot significantly cut spending without significantly cutting activity levels.

easiest path to spend less on healthcare is to fix why people get sick. Remove subsidies from junk food, remove garbage from processed food, teach the kids and parents to think differently. The majority of health issues are cardio metabolic driven.

Also, get drug ads off TV and print. If aint OTC, it shouldnt be on TV
No argument here.
in addition, everyone has to source their own healthcare to drive prices down and get of the practice of business and govt subsidizing most peoples health care . We are the only developed country who does this . I served on the benefits committee of a fortune 400 publicly traded company, started and ran 2 companies that could not afford to subsidize HC till we were profitable and currently have to source my own health care, so I have seen both sides. It's a serious racket .

Not a hot take. Clearly accurate.

I've said many times I would take $.50 on the dollar of what I've paid in. If that went in to an index fund instead of SS I would be a millionaire a couple times over.

Well, I didn't vote for this specifically, it wasn't a secret that he wanted to do something like it.

Crypto is an asset. Clearly there is a strategic reason for him to do this, or there is a self-serving reason, or perhaps a combination of both. I don't know. But I'm not sure why it's such a big issue for you personally. Crypto is a multi-trillioin $ market, and it will only get bigger.

Crypto is a direct competitor to the USD.

It would be like Wal-Mart dumping their profit into Target stock

The first country to do this (us) holds all the cards for at least a short while. If China does it before we make it work, they could control the financial world for as least quite a while. The USD will plummet

There is a lot going on that we didn't vote for. I am definitely not on board with this. How much of these stocks did the Trump and Musk insiders own before this announcement

Well, it looks like ETH was owned by Trumps financial services firm. But, we are in a new world, where you conflict of interest does not exists.

Its a ponzi scheme.

There is no inherent value to any of these online tokens.

I wont pretend to be a computer scientist with extensive knowledge of blockchain technology, but my understanding is it is still hackable.

Blockchain is a way of protecting information while transferring. Blockchain is being looked at for toll roads, you can move transactions safely. It is supposed to be much safer than the traditional forms. I guess everything is hackable at some level

He's already said that multiple times and then backed off, pushing for more. If I'm Trump, I tell him no. He has to pay some other way. They don't have any REM's anyway. No way for him to follow through.

Zelenskyy is immediately censured. He gives up his Presidency. He is exiled to Gaza. He should do well there, a Ukranian Catholic under the sweet control of Hamas.

Let the EU take care of the cleanup.

Work a peace deal with Russia instead. We get REM's from them in return for maintaining peace with the Ukraine. Ukraine gives up the areas that Russia has already taken. Ukraine pays us back over time. No NATO, no EU for Ukraine

Yep, The US $ is fiat as you know. It has no backing. It is merely 1s and 0s on bank computers. It's only backing is that it has the law making it so that it has to be accepted in transactions (in the US).

Most US $ is created out of thin air by banks. The earn interest on money that they themselves create, and was never issued by the Fed. It's a good racket.

Crazy some antisemite like you isn't cheering this move. It's a direct competitor to the banksters, run by the very people you constantly hate on. I thought you'd see it for what it is, an opportunity for people to have a currency not under the thumbs of banks ... at least for now.

Why would being an antisemite make me a fan of crypto?

Wasnt Sam Bankman-Fried conning millions of people out of their hard earned savings?

Bitcoin doesnt get to $100k without Blackrock and big banks buying it up.

Can I go to the corner store and buy my groceries with bitcoin?

If that ever happened the USD would disintegrate, most Americans would lose their life savings, and we'd most likely enter a great depression that would trigger a civil war.

I will say this, as of right now, Bitcoin is a great way for criminals to launder tax payer money from Ukraine back to the US or Israel.

There should be sanctions places on banks that transfer USD with these Crypto exchanges.
