Have the hostages been released?
Keep asking this question, my friend. The silence is deafening.
Still waiting to hear how it's relevant. Are you saying it's acceptable to punish the innocent for Hamas' crimes?
The silence does indeed speak loudly.
Please delineate for everyone who in Gaza is innocent in your estimation.
Just to help:
Were hitler youth innocent?
Were the League of German Girls innocent?
Were those just going to work supporting the German economy innocent?
How would outsiders only feed the innocent and not the combatants and supporters at the same time?
When is it the responsibility of combatants who control a territory to take care of the citizens in that territory and give up their quest for power? Are the babies in their jurisdiction their responsibility?
Hamas initiated this with a savage attack on civilians including babies.do you think they really care about babies' health as long as they are in power?
Maybe the Russians in Ukraine should call a ceasefire so everyone in Ukraine can sit down for dinner peacefully and rest up. Stop their offensive and send in food and medicines for the Ukrainians, then try to restart the offensive later.
Historically and militarily the demands on Israel at this point are unprecedented. It's the old "rules for thee and not for me" type of demands. No major nation would acquiesce to the demands you provide for Israel to "stop the genocide". They are in a war of survival and self defense. They have just been attacked on two fronts.
All non-combatants are innocent for purposes of this discussion. Obviously that includes civilian workers and youth.
Occupying powers have a responsibility under international law to restore public order and safety by, among other things, preventing mass starvation and disease. There is absolutely nothing new or unprecedented about this demand.
The conflict didn't start on October 7. It's Israel that is now attacking on at least four fronts.
Israel is not an occupying force if they don't control the area.
If you're suggesting that the presence of an insurgency negates Israel's status as an occupying power, that would be incorrect. By its very definition, insurgency is a violent and organized rebellion against a government or occupying authority.
If you are suggesting that Israel occupies an area they have not conquered, you need to reconsider which dictionary you are using.
Israel conquered Gaza and has occupied it since 1967. The ICJ and the UN General Assembly have been perfectly clear about this.
