Have the hostages been released?
Keep asking this question, my friend. The silence is deafening.
Still waiting to hear how it's relevant. Are you saying it's acceptable to punish the innocent for Hamas' crimes?
The silence does indeed speak loudly.
Please delineate for everyone who in Gaza is innocent in your estimation.
Just to help:
Were hitler youth innocent?
Were the League of German Girls innocent?
Were those just going to work supporting the German economy innocent?
How would outsiders only feed the innocent and not the combatants and supporters at the same time?
When is it the responsibility of combatants who control a territory to take care of the citizens in that territory and give up their quest for power? Are the babies in their jurisdiction their responsibility?
Hamas initiated this with a savage attack on civilians including babies.do you think they really care about babies' health as long as they are in power?
Maybe the Russians in Ukraine should call a ceasefire so everyone in Ukraine can sit down for dinner peacefully and rest up. Stop their offensive and send in food and medicines for the Ukrainians, then try to restart the offensive later.
Historically and militarily the demands on Israel at this point are unprecedented. It's the old "rules for thee and not for me" type of demands. No major nation would acquiesce to the demands you provide for Israel to "stop the genocide". They are in a war of survival and self defense. They have just been attacked on two fronts.
All non-combatants are innocent for purposes of this discussion. Obviously that includes civilian workers and youth.
Occupying powers have a responsibility under international law to restore public order and safety by, among other things, preventing mass starvation and disease. There is absolutely nothing new or unprecedented about this demand.
The conflict didn't start on October 7. It's Israel that is now attacking on at least four fronts.
Israel is not an occupying force if they don't control the area.
If you're suggesting that the presence of an insurgency negates Israel's status as an occupying power, that would be incorrect. By its very definition, insurgency is a violent and organized rebellion against a government or occupying authority.
If you are suggesting that Israel occupies an area they have not conquered, you need to reconsider which dictionary you are using.
Israel conquered Gaza and has occupied it since 1967. The ICJ and the UN General Assembly have been perfectly clear about this.
Israel left Gaza in 2005 including any settlers. Gaza has been autonomous since then. Israel would have to defeat Hamas to reoccupy it presently.
You're against the overwhelming weight of authority on that. Israel continues to control borders, airspace, maritime access, living conditions, and pretty much anything else you can think of. Gazans are completely at the mercy of Israel for access to food, water, medicine, and fuel. They aren't even allowed to fish in their own seas.
You are forgetting Egypt borders Gaza. They are not willing to let aid go there either.
Israel has no effective control in Gaza. You are a politician arguing semantics over reality. Hamas controls most of Gaza. Israel would have to conquer it to control it.
This argument is unserious. You're saying that because prison gangs exercise some low-level "control" over other inmates, the state has no responsibility to feed anyone in its custody.
As for semantics, look in the mirror. You're the one who wants to play dueling dictionaries while Israel allows people to starve.
Hamas is more than a bunch of gangs. They are an organization with outside support for weapons. They are the governing body in Gaza. I'm sure they could have arranged outside support for food long before they started the war. Hamas is the key, and you aren't willing to admit it.
This is completely untethered from reality. There's a huge difference between smuggling in weapons for a few thousand militants and smuggling in food for 2 million people a day.
More important, nothing you said justifies allowing Gaza to starve. If Hamas doesn't maintain order and provide for basic needs, regardless of the reason, Israel as the occupying power has the responsibility to do so.
You keep saying Israel is the occupying power as if they were. You are lost in words you eant to use even if it's not reality.
You see occupation as military boots on the ground. International law sees occupation as effective control. All jargon aside, the reality is that Israel has effective control of Gaza. They and only they can stop the famine any time they choose.
Saying Israel has effective control of Gaza is like saying Russia has effective control of Ukraine now, or the allies had effective control over Germany in January of 1945. Again you're like a politician using jargon to make your invalid point look valid.
Again, it's been the subject of extensive explanation and analysis by international bodies. It's not something I just made up.
And that's your major problem... you think "international bodies" are a good thing.
The UN and the rest of them are NOT good. They want to diminish and even destroy America.
These "international bodies" are made up of nations who are jealous & hate America. They also hate the Jews.
America should never participate in these "international bodies". They are a farce.
When was the last time the UN actually solved an international crisis? When have they brokered a peace treaty?
At best, they have supported the American brokered peace treaties or given verbal support to our unilateral peace initiatives.
The UN is a waste of money & effort. Idiots like you want the United States to be subject to the authority of "international bodies" life the UN.
HELL NO!
