NBC has canceled the TV show 'Suits LA' after its first season, unable to replicate the success of the original 'Suits'. The series faced criticism for its writing, casting, and execution, although it had some fans who enjoyed it. The cancellation was not surprising to some, who noted that adding 'LA' to spinoffs often leads to failure, with 'Suits LA' joining other unsuccessful attempts like 'Law & Order LA' and 'Penny Dreadful: City of Angels'. Despite high expectations due to the popularity of the original series on Netflix, 'Suits LA' did not capture a significant audience.

Watched first 3 episodes of Andor season 2. They're releasing them in batches of 3 with each batch being about a year of time or so. A couple plot lines tonally a little different but it works. Writing and acting on par with season 1.

Would highly recommend Andor for those who haven't seen it. Yes, it is Star Wars, but the writing and acting are unlike any Star Wars. Top notch.
Just finished all 9. Kinda left ya hanging there...

If you liked Star Wars, you will like Andor though

There's 3 more episodes next week. Tony Gilroy (show runner) says it ends right where Rogue One begins.

I've recommended Andor to some non Star Wars people who have enjoyed it.

The ending what you took out of the Movie? Huh, I found several other items in that movie more interesting than the ending. I can care less about what happened at the end.

Now the establishing a Church in war torn and anti-Christian areas? That is interesting. The political discussions? How people can make mistakes and it doesn't define their life? The human nature aspect of being asked to be Pope. I thought Ralph Feines deserved an Oscar.

If you like Ralph Feines and want to think, Menu is very good and entertaining

You really think a bunch of Cardinals would vote for someone the way they did prior to the reveal? You're not giving those guys much credit

That is where you and I differ, I personally believe the vast majority of those that dedicate their lives to Church service are good at heart. The Lithgow's and the Italian in the movie are the outliers. The silent majority just want the best person. And when they rise, they will go with them. At least in the Catholic Church. I don't see the malice you do.

I think that series might be the most difficult sci-fi work ever to turn into movie/tv show.

Star Wars died a long time ago. Mandalorian might be the only thing worthy of that name since Episode IV, V, and III.

Asimov was on a different plain of existence from everyone else, for sure. This is one of my favorite stories, one that always stuck with me https://sfshortstories.com/?p=1014

After Andor Season 2, which concludes the series, the next major Star Wars project is the animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions Season 3, premiering on Disney+ on October 29, 2025. Additionally, the movie The Mandalorian & Grogu is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 22, 2026.

While there are no confirmed Andor spinoffs, the series is designed to lead directly into the events of Rogue One. Therefore, Rogue One is the next step in the Andor narrative timeline.

Just finished it. Will be interesting to see how it morphs into an animated bit. That basically sucks. Live action is the only way to go, not cartoons

Animated? I haven't seen any Star Wars animation. I'm too old for that. Only animation I'll watch is Pixar level good with younger family members. No judgement to people into animated stuff but I just can't sit through it unless it something like Shrek or Toy Story.

I'm with you on that. Tried to watch a Star Wars animated once. Very Japanese-looking, anime type. Not my cup of tea

Kind of a comedy. But some fun for a rainy day...

Would agree with this. Beautifully shot, well written and acted, and a great attention to detail. Gilroy and company made the galaxy far far away seem much more real compared to recent Star Wars entries. An awkward dinner with the in-laws and planets having people with jobs and lives. The evil empire is also scary, not silly. The fighter spacecraft are loud and terrifying, stormtroopers are deadly when they aim, etc.

Off topic to the reply, but will give a yay or nay on the new Mission Impossible and whether it's worth the theater price. Seeing it Thursday.

Excellent!

Gotta say, Tom Cruise has turned out to be one real life badarse. He does all his own stunts. And he's 62!

Saw Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning

If you like the other MI movies then I'd recommend seeing in the theater for the big screen experience. It is long and the plot is secondary to the action, but I watch these for the action and bat**** crazy Tom Cruise delivers in that department.

I started watching Duster with Josh Holloway. It's fun for the 70s environment but kind of meh ... not helped by the fact that the two cops are of course a blek woman and Indian man facing anachronistic, George Floyd-era racism at ever turn.
