That episode gave us one of my favorite political quotes ever: "That pledge was not a blanket commitment that, if you go and slander and attack Heidi, that I'm going to nonetheless come like a servile puppy dog and say, 'thank you very much for maligning my wife and my father,'"

Little Jimmy caught lying again:

Texas Democrat Senate nominee James Talarico has repeatedly claimed he taught 45 students in a crowded single classroom without enough desks, but buried nine paragraphs down in a profile on Talarico's experience as a teacher, The New York Times cited school records showing the largest class period assigned to the former middle school teacher had just 30 students.

Talarico often invokes his two years teaching sixth-grade English at a low-income San Antonio middle school, an experience he frequently uses to argue that he understands the challenges facing public schools. The Times published a lengthy profile on Wednesday focused on Talarico's short stint as teacher at Rhodes Middle School, and the writers spent just a few paragraphs on Talarico's fib about the classroom size.

"At one point, I had 45 students in one classroom," Talarico said during a CNN town hall earlier this month. He added that students had to sit on the air-conditioning unit because there were not enough desks, calling the situation an indictment of education in "the wealthiest country in human history."

Talarico has repeated the anecdote at campaign events and featured it on his campaign website. Texas Education Agency documents reviewed by the Times, however,

We're making essentially the same mistake with Iran that we made with North Korea. In both cases we had effective no-nuke agreements, failed to honor them, and instead threatened the other country. That's why there's a good chance we'll get the same result.

Talarico supports the full trans agenda. That's not hyperbole, it's his own words. He even said that parents who prevent their own kids from poisoning or mutilating their bodies are "abusive for sure." I've seen the clips.

The only exaggeration I can see is that maybe Talarico doesn't want to do this to every single kid. But I don't know if he's ever expressed any limits on his support for transing kids except in recent weeks when he was backpedaling furiously and not the least bit credibly.

Just don't want Iran to have nukes that they would use against Israel and us if they could deliver them this far. Don't need another N. Korea. And worse they would use them many believe. The world is a dangerous place in case you had not noticed.

Pakistan has nukes and they arent any different than Iran.

Actually they are much different than Iran

How so?

We have relations with Pakistan; in fact President Trump's relations with both India and Pakistan was instrumental in preventing a hot war between the two a year ago or so. Plus we did not stop North Korea before they attained the nukes. On the other hand Trump bombed the Iran nuclear facilities and has said repeatedly that Iran will not be allowed to have nukes. As to Pakistan, while I do not think they can be trusted totally, we do have diplomatic relations with them which is certainly better than our situation with Iran.

More importantly, Pakistan's leaders are not fanatics devoted to the Mahdi (12th Imam) and the desire to cause an apocalyptic event that will usher in a new age. There's no doubt that if Iran had nukes they would use them to cause nuclear Holocaust.

Historian, Talarico did use the words "abusive for sure," but you're leaving out some important context.
That was from a 2019 legislative hearing concerning whether a parent's refusal to acknowledge a child's gender identity could be considered abuse. He wasn't talking about parents refusing surgery or hormone treatments.

I'll readily concede that Talarico has a progressive record on transgender issues. In fact, he supported a 2025 amendment that would have classified refusal to affirm a child's gender identity as abuse. I think that's a legitimate issue to debate.

But you're taking that position and turning it into an assertion that he wants to transition children, apparently against their parents' wishes. That's a considerable leap.

He also supported a 2023 amendment that would have prohibited transition surgeries for minors, so the suggestion that he's never expressed any limits until recently isn't accurate.
I'm not asking you to agree with Talarico. I'm asking that we distinguish what he's actually advocated from what his political opponents claim he wants to do.

I did not know about any votes against surgeries so that's in his favor. However, Talarico has repeatedly expressed support for the trans agenda in general, including for children. Regardless of specific details, he thinks it's abusive for parents to protect their children. That is insane in any context. Young children are not capable of making life altering decisions. It is one of a parent's responsibilities to protect their children from harming themselves physically, psychologically, or otherwise. In truth, it is abusive for a parent to encourage or accept those delusions.

And he did use the words, "abusive for sure." I've seen the clips. That's why a put it in quotes. One might even call that nuance.

Talarico has proven through his own words that he cannot be trusted on this issue or on any other: the border, the economy, crime, our liberties (especially the first two amendments), etc.

Once you get to child abuse as not accepting a child's assertion of having a gender that isn't tied to their physical gender, you have opened the door to intervention by others over the wishes of the parent. Child "abuse" would make the parent criminal.

It isn't a large leap at all.

IIf refusing to affirm a child's gender identity were legally considered abuse, it could open the door to CPS investigations and potentially intervention in parental decisions. I have serious reservations about giving the government that kind of authority.

But defining something as child abuse under the Family Code doesn't automatically make it a criminal offense. Those are two different legal questions.

More importantly, we're getting away from Trump's original statement. He claimed Talarico wants to turn children transgender. Supporting government intervention when parents refuse to affirm a child's stated gender identity is not the same as advocating that children be made transgender.

I can disagree with Talarico's position on parental rights without attributing intentions to him that aren't supported by the evidence.

That's been my argument from the beginning.

Calling Talarico "obsessed" is political hyperbole. Fair enough. Politicians do that all the time.

But claiming he wants to turn children transgender is something entirely different. That's not simply exaggerating his position. It's misrepresenting it.

There are legitimate disagreements over transgender policies, particularly involving minors and athletics. Republicans have plenty of material to work with from Talarico's voting record. Why not argue those issues on their merits instead of making accusations that have no factual basis?

I understand the appeal to the MAGA base, but there's a difference between political rhetoric and outright falsehoods.

What's interesting to me is how far down the list transgender issues are when it comes to what Americans actually care about at the polls. People are worried about affordability, war, corruption, healthcare, and education. Meanwhile, transgender issues are practically at the bottom of the list (compared to a few years ago).

Yet somehow we're still talking about the imaginary epidemic of politicians trying to turn kids transgender instead of addressing the issues voters actually care about.

But wait, there is an aspect of this issue that has to extend beyond "nobody cares about it". With the issue, the left wants the taxpayer to FUND the transition and the future care. There is no way that aspect would be at the bottom of the list.

Without someone vetting the questions the moderation is worthless. Let the parties vet and chose the questions. Let the electorate see what the parties deem important. Let the candidates answer to the other party's questions as well as their own party's talking points.

As they stand, the debates are just propaganda entertainment for one side, until the one side makes as big a mistake as with Biden 2024.

Six months from now these idiots will regret their votes as they see they have screwed themselves. Sadly too late for the rest of us.

How old are you?

Almost 80 and proud of it.

I was just curious bcs I havent met any young people who support this war as you do.

Obama made had an agreement with them.

Does that not constitute diplomatic relations?

I cannot help but laugh

IMO both sides are putting up the most flawed candidates most of the time bcs Israel controls both sides and they dont want America First candidates in congress... they want Israel First candidates in congress...

The simple answer is an old fashioned Lincoln-Douglas style debate with clear ground rules and no moderator. Have it go on for 2-3 hours and let the voters decide.

That said, we are obviously not going to have a debate for the Texas senate race. It's too late and it doesn't matter now. The standard format this days is a joke and not worth the time.
