Big difference between Fight Fire With Fire and Enter Sandman.

They were a one-off tribute to Mother Love Bone. Two of the guys from MLB founded Pearl Jam after their lead singer OD'ed and they hooked up with Cornell and the rest of Pearl Jam to do a tribute to MLB.BUBear03 said:
I'll give you top 5 of the 90s. 2 solid albums. How about the Soungarden Pearl Jam collaboration: Temple of the Dog? Not even sure if there was more than the one album, but it was a very good one.
It was good, Im just not a big PJ fan.BUBear03 said:

Nirvana and the Pumpkins are probably a toss-up for me. Depends on the day. Soundgarden probably gets under-rated, Cornell was a great vocalist. Corgan got too artsy on the later SP albums.BUBear03 said:
If we're talking 90s, I'm surprised there's no Soundgarden or Smashing Pumpkins love. I preferred both of them to Nirvana or Pearl Jam (both of which I put above GNR, fwiw).
Quoted for visibility because I'm right.exr29070 said:
Nirvana as a unit was good. Kurt Cobain was overrated as a lyricist. He was just honest but it's nothing that hadn't been done before by the old UK punk acts. It was purely a matter of timing.
I'd take Alice in Chains over anyone else from that era, though. Especially over Smashing Pumpkins.

IDK about albums but there's some great one-offs.
Big Four doing Am I Evil... DIO (RIP \m/) and Malmsteen doing Dream On.
Everything from Ghost. They're basically a Swedish revolving collaboration door.

And it depends, Fashion Nugget and Prolonging the Magic were good, I cant name anything past that.exr29070 said:
Serious question - Cake or Death?
Only if we're talking about 1987. Which we aren't.mjvann said:

Van Halen's break up was catalyzed by the bull**** that was "Jump." Obviously if synths didn't exist Van Halen would never have broken up. Obviously.GoldMind said:Roland 808 drum tracks galoreexr29070 said:Synthesizers galore. Power ballads galore.GoldMind said:One hit wonders galore.exr29070 said:

Most of the guys from the Seattle grunge scene who made it famous credit MLB with being their biggest influence.
I should also mention that Pearl Jam didn't exist yet. Wasn't a true collaboration between bands. Just happened to be all the guys who would eventually form Pearl Jam plus Cornell who knew the dude from MLB.
And Sexual Healing wouldn't have been a hit without the 808....exr29070 said:Van Halen's break up was catalyzed by the bull**** that was "Jump." I think we are currently in the worst decade for country music

Not many collabos are in the running for great albums, IMO
Ridin with The King was really good
The album SRV did with Albert King was damn good
Who else you got?

Other 90s bands I liked (some mentioned already): STP, Alice In Chains, NIN, Rage Against the Machine, The Prodigy, Bush, Oasis, 3eb, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lenny Kravitz, Tom Petty, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some others.
