This from the guy making his tantrum a weeklong event.

Just ignore me. I will talk the big-boy subjects with the adults.

You can continue to cheerlead Donald and swoon over MAGA. Boat go boom, cool... Have fun.

Whiterock, you can target your novels on Oldbear, he will lap them up.

Almost funny to see FLBear try to deny what he posted.

"....I don't know what he said. I don't think he even knows what he said..."
-Donald Trump (speaking about Joe Biden)

"if you are over 55 and want to work you have to learn how to work in today's world, not the 1990's or 2000's. I see too many upper managers that can't make the adjustment, they spent more time arguing why the way they used to do it is better than doing the job"

Well, what part did I mention Boomers and what part do you disagree? I didn't know 55 year olds were Boomers. Look it up.

The guy is an idiot, you like falling in line with that clown? I guess you have to support MAGA, part of the by-laws. With a Trump quote no less, you will get extra Bannon-points.

I most certainly did not mention boomers, in no small part because the whole idea that generations are root causes of things is silly. Only a fool would build arguments on such poor foundations, much less argue about the definitions of them as being worth very many keystrokes.

But some people do blame boomers for everything. Others blame Israel/Jews. Or Maga. All of it, and more, are just the hobgoblins of limited minds.

I agree. It has nothing to do with generations, but age does play into employment. If you want to continue working, especially if you are older, you have to be flexible and willing to work the way the work environment is today, not yesterday or 20 years ago. I have seen too many people tell new management how things used to be done, that will do nothing but get you replaced.

My point is on flexibility in a thread on AI and automation, not really sure how it is not applicable. I never mentioned Boomers or any Generation that idiot did, I spoke of over 55 workers.

Gee, what demographic makes up most workers over 55? If only there was a word commonly recognized to refer to that group, even if loosely applied!

That is the future, besides restructuring the education system to a more Vo-Tech focus. All those jobs are physical. Think about it on this Board, even those in good shape, could you lug survey chains all day or weld in the rain. Not once to get something done, but day in and day out. For those that served, think of an infantry lifestyle at 50. Lines go down, you have to go... Look at the health of truckers and rail workers. It is a young man's game. I guess AI can't bag groceries either when you can't maintain AI's infrastructure needs because you physically can't do it. AI will manage...

We better invest in better health care, those jobs at 20, 30, and even in the early 40's are good. As the body breaks down, going to be tough to maintain. Preventive care and restorative care (massage, chiro, acupuncture, and those types of things) need to be included in health care.

It would be interesting to find out more about it. My guess it the savings on cost vs laying and maintaining track would be great, and carrying 500 passengers at 45 MPH would really help the Suburb to the City traffic

Transportation industry is moving away from railed vehicles, besides the capital outlay the Operating and Maintenance is bad. The Northeast is dealing with the issues of the aging of a rail system. Seeing more buses.

I literally worked with an Autonomous trucking company, we tested. They could not make the model work for actual business costs and abandoned. The maintenance and other operating costs killed profitability. They ended up keeping drivers.

Funny story, they came in and confirmed they we ran an 18 wheel AV at 80 mph during testing. Our CEO said, that's great - never do it again.

I am not sure that we are doing this stuff because it is better or because they can. Same with AI. The Chinese stuff, I am not sure it is as good as they say as they don't account for cost like we do. They may have 20 technicians supporting the systems architecture for an AV and say it saved the driver cost.

If they pulled it off, think of the power that they would have. Do we want a Company, Organization or person having that much power?

Elon was going to help tackle that… I guess he figured out that building AI satellites to stop global warming would be easier than fixing DC.

He might get fewer death threats from building a huge satellite net than he would from thinning up the federal budget.

we've had stuff like that in R&D for a while now, so we're not exactly behind in the tech. It's the production end that's a problem.

Oh, wait....why don't we get China to manufacture them for us!

You guys honestly don't see the hypocrisy of Trump and Musk (who at the point of DOGE had 38 billion Federal Contracts), complaining about Government contracts for other and randomly cutting for a photo op? It did nothing, but **** up a lot of people's lives, and they were wrong about most of it! They ended up hiring back or the "savings" never showed up, see SS roles of supposedly paying dead people.

Meanwhile, Donald's net worth has doubled through, get this, his tying the US Treasury to crypto, law suits he had DOJ set aside and now having the US tax payer pay him 230 million and a 747...

These guys that are selling you that there must be pain, while they are raking it in... You are being played for a sap.
