that may happen, but not this decade or the next. Will take a thousand or so new data centers to get built and fully depreciated out just to get to the point where we could make the calculations necessary to leap to space.

Really puzzling given the news from UPS as well.
UPS is going to deliver less Amazon packages. Meaning they will be delivered by Amazon drivers.
So instead of hiring more drivers Amazon's response is to lay off people. Even if it is hiring more drivers but laying off office people for this the news still seems a bit odd.
You perfectly described how this works and what the real motivations are for U.S. companies as they shift many functions offshore to India, South America and elsewhere.
