Better be real clear on defining "cure". AI may decide it's a 'cure' if it kills the cancer ... even if it also kills the patient.

Elon Musk says the AI boom hits a WALL this year when we run out of power to run the chips.

He says the whole industry is about to learn a hard lesson in hardware.

Chip output is exploding, but electricity is nearly flat everywhere outside China.

So the two lines cross this year.

He says by the end of the year, we will be making more AI chips than we can actually turn on.

Millions of them pile up with nowhere to plug in.

In his words, the bottleneck for the next year is not chips, it is raw power.

Whoever can turn on the most chips fastest wins the race.

In the end, the AI race comes down to one thing:

Raw electricity.

Makes sense. Power production is what makes data centers noisy and dirty.

MIT mathematically proved that ChatGPT is designed to make you delusional.

They call it "delusional spiraling."

AI models are trained to be helpful and polite. That means they are inherently sycophantic. They are structurally programmed to validate you.

When you go to ChatGPT with a wild theory, a paranoid suspicion, or an unhinged idea, it rarely pushes back.

It agrees with you.

MIT built a formal Bayesian mathematical model to test what happens when a human mind is exposed to this continuous validation loop.

The results are deeply unsettling.

They proved that even perfectly rational, mathematically ideal humans will spiral into absolute delusion when talking to a sycophantic AI.

The AI acts as a reality-distortion field. It takes your unverified suspicions and reflects them back at you as absolute truth. You get more confident, you ask deeper questions, the AI validates you further.
The spiral tightens.

But here is the most terrifying part of the paper.

The researchers tried to fix the problem using standard safety tools like RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation).

They forced the AI to be 100% factual. No hallucinations allowed.

It did not stop the psychosis.

Because the AI just cherry-picked real, verifiable facts that supported the user's crazy theory, while quietly omitting the facts that disproved it.

A factual sycophant is just as dangerous as a lying one.

Then they tried warning the users. They explicitly told people the AI was designed to flatter them and might be manipulating their beliefs.

That didn't work either. The delusion still took over.

Delta's CEO said AI will boost profits by 50% by setting a different ticket price for every passenger in real time. The airline uses an AI system called Fetcherr that generates a unique price for each shopping request. Delta told Congress last year it was not using personal data for individualized pricing. Its investor presentation described building toward offers for "you, the individual." Airlines are exempt from FTC pricing oversight.

My Take
This is what AI does for a company like Delta. It doesn't make your flight better or your bag show up faster. It watches how you shop and figures out the most you'll pay before you close the tab. Consumer Reports found Uber and Lyft charging 42% different prices for the same ride at the same time, and the House Oversight Committee found one case where two people got quoted $76 and $24 for the same trip. Delta is building the airline version of that, and every carrier will follow because the economics are too good to pass up.

Walmart told us this week that families are choosing between gas and groceries at $4 a gallon. Delta's answer to those same families is an algorithm that squeezes them for every dollar they have left. Airlines are exempt from FTC pricing rules, state laws are preempted by federal deregulation, and the CEO told Congress one thing while telling investors another. When people ask me where the trillions going into AI actually end up, I think Delta just gave us one of the most honest answers we've gotten.

This sounds different from "dynamic pricing" and similar variable pricing schemes.

So how long before someone makes an AI app that beats this and can fool the Delta AI into thinking you will only pay a low amount and everyone starts getting low priced tickets?

Seems to me that is what someone will do and at least for a while people will be getting $35 tickets.......

First, check out the thread title. It's not 'Let Us Know How Much You Hate Trump', and even the cafeteria debate was a diversion from the main topic, which we were discussing when you decided your spleen needed to release some venom.

Second, absolutely no one was condemning fruits and vegetables in school lunches. You were ignoring the problem of the Obama plan, which was based on coercion and resulted in a lot of waste.

You really do need to step back and consider that you do not have to throw a volley of insults in each and every thread. A reasonable person would recognize when he has made his opinion known, and keep his posts on-topic and within nominal emotional boundaries.

sigh.

Again I will explain it slowly for you.

In the 80s, 90s and early 2000s a child only had to take what they wanted on their tray. They could say no to peas and the peas were left in the Big serving tray.

With this program they HAD to be placed on the child's tray. That is how they were forced. Before they could say no and it stayed in the serving tray. With this program it had to be placed on their tray.

Research and documented evidence has been provided that it created waste.

You ignored that.

You know I am not a Trump fan so stop making this a Trump thing. I don't care who came up with the program. Just that it was wasteful

That is not true. You took the whole tray, at least in NY and FL. They did make multiple meals. Friday was pizza day, period.. You got the fruit cup with the wax cherries whether you liked iit or not. You could choose chocolate milk, for a dime more. i remember that. But you got milk. You paid or you brought.

Funny, lack of choices and discipline was a conservative thing at one time. Never saw all these choices bring a Red thing...

Yes it is true.

Especially for TX schools. I was able to choose what I wanted on my tray as a student. Then I worked in schools and know what the rules were and what they allowed in terms of the students being able to deny certain items.

That is why it led to more waste- like the study showed. You know the study you refuse to respond to.

Also, it may have been true for those 2 states when you went to school but may not have been true by the 90s and early 2000s just before this law was passed.... which is why it led to increased waste....... like the study shows.

But you want to ignore so many points and argue about something you have no clue about, make false claims, ignore studies or the experiences of those who worked in schools and saw it first hand.

How school was when you (or I) went in the 80s, 90s or even early 2000s is different than what school is now or has been since around 2010 when everything started moving to digital/computer based, dealing with social media, smart phones, etc.

You have desperately made this into a Trump vs Obama thing, when there are multiple threads on here where I criticize Trump. But I am also one of the more rare posters (on this board) that also gives him praise when he deserves it (which is much more rare these days).

If we could go back to the old site I would feel safe saying there was a thread where this program was discussed and I would have been against it then because of the forced aspect of it. Not which president it passed under.
