One of the first beneficiaries of the Spindletop boom was Baylor, when George W. Carroll (president of the Gladys City Oil Co that owned the mineral rights where Lucas No. 1 came in) funded construction of the Carroll Library and Carroll Science Building, both which opened in 1903.

Unfortunately, despite being an American hero, Charles Lindbergh had Nazi sympathies. To be honest, quite a few prominent Americans from the 1930s had similar attitudes including some that would be surprising.
