I don't see the SEC taking Oklahoma State.
Let's face it, it's a different school without T. Boone.
In terms of national recognition, Big 12 really has three teams:
OU
UT
KU b/c of bball
If SEC wanted to be clever, they could easily take OU and KU and leave UT out.
That would be the worst situation for Baylor, probably, because UT would go independent or PAC, and the B12 remainders would lose the last of their national brands.
For Texas that's more legacy & $$ than anything else. What have they accomplished in athletics over the last decade? No conference titles or national titles in football, MBB, or WBB. I think their Volleyball team may have won the conference a few times. But who notices or cares?
Meanwhile, OU football wins the conference every year (maybe they're getting bored!), Baylor WBB owned the Big 12 with had 2 national championships, & Kansas MBB owned the Big 12 as well. Baylor football had its ups & downs over that time but did win the conference twice & contended in 2019 while Drew has built MBB into a national power & just won a natty. Other teams in the conference have had good years in those sports. But Texas has become a joke.
