I don't think Hillary shredded or flushed classified documents down her toilet that would put the country in a grave security risk.

The guy that said he could shoot someone in the middle of Manhattan and not lose support certainly wouldn't think he was above the law.
It was letters between him and Kim and a map of Hurricane Dorian that he drew on. The Archives mistakenly gave him the documents, there is no unknowns here. They gave them to Trump and then said they want them back. They were in the Archives, this is not Trump hiding documents or stealing docs. This is a tardy return of something he never took.

A Federal warrant? 30 FBI agents??? To get a couple of letters and a map of a hurricane????? That doesn't seem a bit over the top to you?
they took 10 boxes of stuff without actually looking for anything specific.. they are now gonna sort thru and see if there is anything "important" there

Timeline: The Justice Department criminal inquiry into Trump taking classified documents to Mar-a-Lago

May 2021

An official from NARA contacts Trump's team after realizing that several important documents weren't handed over before Trump left the White House. In hopes of locating the missing items, NARA lawyer Gary Stern reaches out to someone who served in the White House counsel's office under Trump, who was the point of contact for recordkeeping matters. The missing documents include some of Trump's correspondence with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, as well as the map of Hurricane Dorian that Trump infamously altered with a sharpie pen.
right, just telling you what they did..
Yeah, who knows how many of those 15 boxes had anything of value or was even not allowed. 30 FBI agents seems like a bit much. 1 and a couple of Marshall's would have gotten no resistance with a warrant.

"It was letters between him and Kim and a map of Hurricane Dorian that he drew on."

Come on, y'all can't honestly believe that's what this is about. They didn't execute an unannounced search warrant on an ex President all for some letters they could have just subpoenaed, and if that was it he wouldn't have surrogates out there talking up "planted evidence".

This is about making Trump look bad and hurting his election chances.

Otherwise, it would have occurred last year in 2021. This is all happening because it is an election year.

the warrant was partially sealed, the evidence and documentation portion basically non existent.

They went in under the reasoning of document recovery but anything found is fair game..

[Since 2016, the media, the deep state, and the left have worked in concert to delegitimize Donald Trump. Since the 2020 election, these same actors have worked to make two things very clear to the American public. First, questioning the security of our elections, or the narrative that January 6 was The Worst Thing Ever, is verboten. Second, doing so will put you in legal jeopardy. By making this clear to the American public, these actors seek to deter political engagement by half the nation. Raising the costs to be a Republican will have effects in federal and state elections in every race, in every district, for all time. It is, in effect, an in-kind donation to Democrats from the FBI and the media.

Democrats are betting that their pressure campaign has gotten us to the point that the average American won't be outraged that political incumbents are using the government to interfere with domestic elections. Rather, they expect the average American to shrug and say, "It's Donald Trump." And they might be right.]

The boxes contain documents and mementos from Trump's presidency, reportedly including letters from Barack Obama and Kim Jong Un, and other correspondence with world leaders.

A legal source said that the boxes had been packed up by the General Services Administration and shipped to Mar-a-Lago when Trump left office in January 2020.

Trump's attorneys, led by Evan Corcoran, had been cooperating fully with federal authorities on the return of the documents to the National Archives and Records Administration, according to sources.

In May, Corcoran granted access into Mar-a-Lago's windowless storage room to FBI agents who spent several hours searching through the boxes. Trump stopped by the basement to say hello at one point, says someone who was there.

More access than Hillary or Bill or even Barack would give someone, yet they still felt like they had to raid his compound.

This is a fishing expedition. Who knows what they end of finding.

Quote:

FBI agents scoured Melania Trump's wardrobe and spent several hours combing through Donald Trump's private office, breaking open his safe and rifling through drawers when they raided the former First Family's Mar-a-Lago home in Florida Monday morning.

The Post has learned that the search warrant used by the FBI to enter the palatial Palm Beach property focused solely on presidential records and evidence of classified information being stored there.

Still can't believe those on here that lean left are ok with what happened here. Imagine them rifling through Barack's and Michelle's private wardrobe or office or home or breaking into their safe. And Obama was one of the most secretive, presidents there was. No telling what they would find raiding him.

Trump was cooperating, at least as much as any president will ever cooperate, this is overreach. Pure and simple.
Agree. It's a fishing expedition, but I think they don't care if they find anything unlawful to actually charge and convict. They just want to find something/anything that they could use to create narrative for the upcoming 2024 election. Something they could use to tarnish Trump and cast doubt about his campaign; they'd be happy to just have something hanging over his head.

The funny thing is though, that according to the left, everyone hates Trump, he's killed the Republican party, he lost all these female votes and no one likes him anymore, he's dead man walking. If that's the case, then he should be pretty easy to beat, right? After all, good 'ol Joe legitimately cleaned beat Trump like a red-headed stepchild in 2020 with 81 million votes. Shouldn't be a problem for 'ol joe to clean trump's clock again, right?

you thinking the constitution is radical is what's sad. evil. demented.

Oh no lady, the Constitution is what Trump and you find wanting. I love America. If a past President ignores repeated requests to return classified documents, and there is a law prohibiting him/her/it retaining them, rule of law dictates that the FBI raid the likely location and retrieve these things that could damage the country.
Fair point, but does it take into account that other presidents, including Obama, kept presidential records and were somehow able to negotiate either keeping them or returning them without a raid on their homes? Does it also take into account what some would call the unnecessary show of force in taking the records from Trump? Did the DOJ really need to send 30 plus heavily armed agents to Trump's home to retrieve them, or is it possible this was a show of force designed for the media (who had apparently been tipped off before the raid began)?

These are the issues that cause people to engage in conspiracy theories, just FYI.
Perfectly said. This is akin the the Jan. 6 Stalin Show Trial. One can both be interested in enforcing laws and finding the truth while realizing the particular methods employed are overtly political and egregious violations of polity and history.
I also find it interesting that the raid took place right after the J6 prime time hearing fell flat on its face

Trump is well aware that they don't typically allow attorneys to be there. He's pushing this talking point to create confusion and preemptively cast doubt on whatever he thinks they might find. There's no basis for any presumption that evidence was planted, but that presumption will be established "fact" in MAGA-World within 24 hours if anything incriminating is found.

An "informer" told the FBI there was a safe full of documents but the safe was empty.

They focused on 3 rooms. The sealed warrant is covering for the informant in the Trump organization.

Well, no, we shouldn't have been. Trump has been openly attacking our democracy for a couple of years now, so it makes sense that the system would fight back.
Did the FBI raid the Clinton compound for attacking our democracy?
The Clintons were investigated and rightly so. It didn't cost them their freedom, but it probably cost Hillary the election. I had no complaints. That's the way the ball bounces.
So home was raided for threatening our democracy (this occurred after the election)?
"Raid" is a very dramatic term. They did obtain a search warrant for some of Hillary's emails.
Serving a lawful warrant is a raid?
How many FBI agents does it take to search for some documents?

Who gives a **** how many?

For the 1,000th time.

Liberals do not care about the force of the State being used against people. They just want to control that power and see it used against their ideological enemies.

It's the classic Leninist "who,whom?"

They dislike State power if they think its being used against Leftists or Liberals, or black americans (who they view as ideological allies to the liberals/Leftists). But turn around and like that State power if they feel its being used against rednecks in Alabama.

I saw my facebook lit up in the summer of 2020 with support for the riots and complaints whenever the police did something against them. But I saw the same liberals wishing the police would open fire and literally kill the Jan. 6th protestors.

Last I checked, liberals cared very much about states forcing women and girls to have babies, even if they are victims of rape and incest. And that's certainly the force of the state being used against women and children.

Some Republicans care about that, too. Many of them voted against empowering state governments to intrude into people's personal lives in Kansas, just last week.

To give you an idea of how far we've come, here's Kevin McCarthy right after Trump sicced a mob of disorganized goons on the Capitol to try to disrupt a peaceful transfer of power:

"When they started breaking into my office, myself and the staff got removed from the office. In doing so, I made a phone call to the president telling him what was going on, asking him to tell these people to stop, to make a video and go out. I was very intense and very loud about it. We cannot just sweep this under the rug. We need to know why it happened, who did it, and people need to be held accountable for it. And I'm committed to making sure that happens."

Trump's enemies tried to hold him responsible for J6 via impeachment, but his allies weren't having it. Y'all won't accept the obvious until the feds connect every little dot. So they're connecting the dots.
Kind of like how you never accepted the fact that cops let people into the Capitol building or children in school don't need masks because the Covid survival rate is so damn high for these children... survival higher than the flu, kind of like that?
You're doing nothing but flaunting your own dishonesty when you repeat the "red carpet" talking point over and over. Even your side doesn't believe its own rhetoric.
The only one being dishonest here samuel, is you. Even when presented with video evidence of cops letting people into the capitol, you still tried to argue against. The same thing with the fact that Covid has a very very very high survival rate amone young people
Fallacy of equivocation. They may have "let" the mob in, but they didn't let the mob in.
And Trump meant to literally find 11,000 votes?

"Trump isn't releasing what he was served with."

His lawyers are saying they were not given a copy of the warrant. Said the agents flashed a paper then shoved in.
Trump's legal team was given a copy of the warrant. It has declined to release it, one source told NBC News's Vaughn Hillyard, because "the burden of transparency rests with the [Justice Department] to lay out its reasoning." Since the warrant also includes an articulation of the potential legal violations to which the search relates, it may also be the case that Trump's team wants to avoid revealing the scope of the legal threat Trump faces.

It's all a choreographed political show solely designed to make Trump look like he's no better than some drug kingpin or some Mafia Don that the FBI is on a crusade to bring down. The same goes for associates or significant supporters (General Flynn, Paul Manafort, Roger Stone, etc. all say hello). It's also moreover a message from the deep state that no matter who you are, if you threaten our power and our gravy train you are going down and you are going down hard. As Ron Desantis tweeted - Banana Republic.

I do find it highly ironic that the older lefties that were passionately protesting against (sometimes violently) these kinds of corrupt establishment practices in the late 60's and the early 70's are the same people that are now enthusiastically laughing at and cheering on this kind of crap today.
It's funny how the Defund the Police crowd suddenly is praising nighttime raids by "jack-booted thugs." Irony abounds!

I think you have the wrong thread here. The Roe V. Wade thread is over there.
