Microsoft AI chief is bananas. Needs to stomp on the brakes a bit. No one wants Capital One to have to reacquire everyone's account balances and transactions because of an AI making a drastic decision like the one at the rental car service company.

Tech people always oversell. It's not all on purpose. They are just sure they have all the real world stuff figured out that their product will deal with.

That was the claim... but like other claims it was shown to be false well before this event. Like the "truck" not being able to handle small hills (really small piles of dirt), snow, mud, etc.

It's also not wrong to admit that there is a disadvantage to losing the technology race internationally.

I don't see it slowing down, because national security is an easy argument for them to make.

But something has to be done, and communities will suffer if they don't have a say.

I have used Turbo Tax several years. The last two have been different as they have employed more AI. I find that it is not as helpful on the more complicated stuff, and their answer to that seems to be to charge even more to get the actual help you need for one question. I may shop around or just use an accountant again next year as Intuit's fees rise.

I also tried to call a Best Buy last week about a refund issue. The local store is having an AI agent answer the phone. It could not answer my simple question and would not let me speak to a person. It simply gave me an answer it thought I needed and asked what else it could do for me… except pass me on to a person.

Just not ready to let loose on mankind yet.

Had a similar experience with Amazon recently. They shipped me an item that i ordered...but when i opened the box the item was something completely different than what I ordered.

I submitted a return and sent the item back to Amazon. Then I got an email saying they could not issue a refund because the item I returned was not the item I had ordered. Well no sht Amazon...that was the whole problem.

So then I tried called and ended up in Ai hell. The ai could not understand the unique issue I had so it couldn't offer any possible solutions.

I finally just gave up and just ate the loss. Luckily it was not an expensive item.

Yep. Just wait until Amazon uses their own delivery folks to ship to your business. It gets worse.
