I wouldn't count on that. Trump
Is doing everything he can to limit himself to one term.

While AOC along with Nancy, Chuck, Schiff, Omar, and Tlaib are guaranteeing him a second term.
Maybe.

So what if he's been to every county. Last I saw Beto, he lost an election and was unemployed. And when he ran for senate, he didn't have the cojones to campaign on removing border protections.

Trump is the best thing that ever happened to the Democrats.

He just jerked off the country for 54 miles of border wall that wasn't needed in the feasibility studies.

Now, here comes the courts to strike down his "emergency."

They're gonna love his SCOTUS pick to replace the corpse. Best thing ever.

Is that all you can hope?

The border wall is a joke on our wallets.

What's next? Another trillion dollar infrastructure bill to fix the non GDP producing red states' broken run down blight?
Where is your evidence that the wall is a joke? Even Beto knows it works In El Paso. He said so himself!

NY Post, Feb 15th:

Former Congressman and possible 2020 presidential contender Beto O'Rourke said in an interview Thursday that he would tear down an existing border barrier in El Paso, Texas, if given the chance.

"Absolutely, I'd take the wall down," O'Rourke, who represented the area as a congressman, said on MSNBC.
Read further. He ends up making that case for the wall...accidentally of course.

Because the Republican isn't a left wing lunatic and the wall is something no one really had a problem with until about ten minutes ago.

Well, since illegal crossings have been dropping steadily, the need for the wall has dropped. It was always an extreme idea. But the problem was more pressing than it is now.

Be fair about that.
There were a lot of factors in the decrease, most importantly the recession. As the economy improves the numbers will likely rise. There is also a major trend toward families crossing the border instead of individuals, which puts a lot more strain on law enforcement and the military.

Mexican businesswoman decapitated after 'family wouldn't pay' ransom, reports say

A Mexican businesswoman's decapitated body was discovered with a note that reportedly said she was killed because her husband "didn't want to pay" a ransom.

The body of Susana Carrera was found last Wednesday inside a bag in a parking lot in the coastal city of Coatzacoalcos in the state of Veracruz. She had been kidnapped a week earlier outside a friend's house where she had gone to pick up one of her children.

The kidnappers left a note alongside the woman's body, according to local media, which read: "This happened to me because my husband played the tough guy and didn't want to pay my ransom."

In 2009 Southwest border apprehensions fell under 600K for the first time since 1975. Since then they've fluctuated around 400K per year. I don't expect anything to happen suddenly, but assuming continued economic growth it wouldn't be at all surprising to see 1M per year a decade from now.

The real question isn't how sudden the changes might be or how the numbers look relative to some other time. It's whether a crisis exists and whether urgent action is needed to deal with it. Most presidents, including Obama in 2014, have acknowledged that a crisis exists. Obama's initial response was similar in some ways to Trump's. His eventual strategy emphasized humanitarian aid, as opposed to Trump's emphasis on deterrence. Until recently the disagreement wasn't so much whether there was a crisis, but rather what kind of strategy and governing philosophy we should apply to it. That's the real issue we should be talking about and trying to resolve IMO.
