I consider heritage different than race. I agree it's ok to he proud of your heritage. I am proud of my German heritage on my mom's side of the family, who settled in the Texas Hill Country back in the 1800's and helped found the State of Texas. Proud of the relative who fought in the Alamo. Likewise proud of the English/Irish settlers in Alabama on my dad's side back in the mid-1800's. Worked hard to help shape this country.

Part Irish, part English and a jumbled slice of French Canadian.

So rather than go through this litany of heritage….i merely consider myself' Anglo or 'white'.

Suspect most Americans are not pure breds.

Which is why the generic terms white, black, Asian are commonly used.

And so many more foods that I get exposed to at different festivals celebrating heritage, not arrogance, but heritage.
