Thousands of years. I'm thinking of Joshua & 11 others who spied out the Promised Land and later of Rahab the prostitute who protected two spies in Jericho before the Israelites conquered the city. She was an earthly ancestor of Jesus.

I agree this is obvious fake news. When the IDF wants to use civilians for target practice, they clearly don't wait for anyone's orders.

Not quite as fake as the predictions of war with Iran, American troops on the ground, and American casualties of course.

But let's be honest - since when have you ever had a problem with indiscriminate killing?

When did the Generations flip from rooting for America and our Allies to rooting against?? My liberal daughter and fianc that live in Boston are over and they seem to want American to fail. A group on this Board, seem to want America's enemies to succeed, be it Russia, Palestinians, China, Iran, geez they even defended North Korea before. I don't get it...

That idea is so foreign to me, I just don't get it. You take the good with the bad, there are always things that don't go your way, so you root against your Country and their allies? But than again, seeing Iraqi trucks loaded with Kuwait's medical equipment (MRIs, CAD scanners, etc...) and the oil fires they set sort of made an impression on just how bad these people can be.

Congress can most certainly put restrictions and conditions on the powers of war that the President can exercise.

They may not often do so…but they can certainly specify and constrain his war powers if they wish in accordance with the Constitution.

[Anyone wishing to argue that the War Powers Resolution of 1973 is unconstitutional must be prepared to explain the purpose of article I, section 8, clause 11, of the Constitution.

That provision expressly grants to Congress the power "To declare War." If the President of the United States is free to fight a war whether or not one has been declared, then this apparently unambiguous constitutional provision is devoid of significance. Opponents of the War Powers Resolution have traditionally claimed that clause 11 confers upon Congress only a narrow piece of war power.

Defenders of the Resolution have argued in contrast that the Resolution constitutes an exercise of congressional authority under the clause. This last contention pokes at the truth without quite striking it. The War Powers Resolution is not constitutional as an exercise of the war power. It is constitutional because it defines the war power. The War Powers Resolution is nothing more or less than a congressional definition of the word "war" in article I.

A definition of this kind coupled with a reasonable enforcement mechanism is well within the power of Congress under a proper understanding of the constitutional system of checks and balances.] -Stephen Carter, Yale Law school

What is the difference between a military action and a declared war?

Great question....

That is why we have a Congress (Legislative Branch) that exists and has the Constitutional power to define such things.

My understanding is that the President can take action to protect the United States and its troops but not for prolonged action. War Powers allows the use of troops but has reporting and time limits (60-90 days).

If it is going to be more than that Congress has to approve, such as the Gulf War Congress passed resolutions supporting the use of force to remove Iraq.

It looks to me that Trump met his War Powers responsibilities by reporting to Congress and having them home in less than 90 days. He was within his rights to do so due to the number of US assets in the Middle East and Iran's threats against the US.

There also has to be an attack or imminent attack on the US, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces, none of which existed here.
There are several points there.

1st - There are enough threats by Iran to destroy "the Great Satan" to qualify as imminent threat.
2nd- The US has 34,000 troops in the that region, 118 in Israel. So, if you want to get lawyerly the US has 118 troops in Israel and hundreds of Embassy staff.
3rd - The US has abot 670 billion dollars worth of assets at risk.

I don't think it is a huge jump...

It's about as big a leap as you can get. Name-calling and slogans have always been hurled between countries and always will be. That's not even close to an imminent threat.
if this indeed happened. Would you call it an imminent threat?

No, but it's still a threat that needs to be dealt with.

It's really sad. So many younger folks seem to have been brainwashed by the schools and the media.

We really need to stop tolerating these liberal, anti-Anerican influencers that are destroying our nation.

For example: no one can truly love America, and yet also want to "fundamentally transform" it.

People may not like what Trump says or does, but there is no doubt that he loves our country and wants to restore it & improve it.

It is all part of the Marxist program. Colleges are full of "America bad" propaganda. That and the overall stupiding down of the American education system. You can read on social media the abject stupidity of the average regressive. Look at the NYC mayoral race - it is all the "educated" white regressives that voted for the 33-year-old Jew-hating failed rapper. American education has replaced knowledge with feelings - they don't understand the basics of economics or politics but know every 500 gender they see on TikTok.

I agree this is obvious fake news. When the IDF wants to use civilians for target practice, they clearly don't wait for anyone's orders.

So far, our three young adult kids have resisted that urge. But all 3 say it is college and what dominates social media. We've gone from (admittedly) probably too pro-America in education and media, to more objective, to now giving everyone the benefit of the doubt except America and the free world.

I don't think it's actually possible to be too pro American.
That's part of the problem. Anti-American leftists have convinced people that nationalism is bad. They don't want strong nations, they want a one world government. It's their only hope to defeat America.

I hear you. And this wasn't the case with me at all, but I've heard a number of folks say they weren't taught about things like slavery, Great Depression, internment camps, Native American treatment, etc. Everything should be taught but also in context.

Totally agree.
Everything should be taught in context and in truth.

Example, native American treatment.
There were many tribes who were peaceful farmers when the colonists arrived. Most of them welcomed the colonists because they could provide real protection from the raiding tribes. Most of these peaceful tribes are lost in history because they freely accepted civilization and the benefits & protections of becoming a citizen. This is true for the tribes that integrated into English society, French, Spanish, Dutch and later American society.
The ones we all know about are three violent, aggressive tribes. These are the tribes that were attacking, pillaging and enslaving the more peaceful tribes.
The ones who ended up in reservations are the violent tribes, but modern historians try to claim that the Cherokee, Apache, Kiowa, Sioux, etc were all peaceful people living in harmony with nature. What a load of BS.
The peaceful tribes never needed a reservation because they embraced civility and modernity. They blended into society rather than clinging to violent, caveman values.

These are the truths that you will never hear in a modern history class.
These truths give a lot more context as to why the reservation system was created.

My comment is go to these places and meet these people, then we can talk...
Yep. I've posted here before that I've traveled all over and have enjoyed it immensely. But, I always thank the Good Lord when I touch back down.
To each his own.

The only reason I still live in the US is because my grandchildren are only 6 minutes away.
There is a difference between living in Copenhagen or Munich and living in Dharan, Tehran, Baghdad, Damascus, N Korea...

We are not talking the same thing...

You'd be lucky to find a box of band-aids in Gaza right now, let alone an MRI. The Israelis have attacked every hospital there, including at least one where they used controlled demolitions.
Maybe the pimples on the ******* of humanity shouldn't build military installations under hospitals.

The average "Palestinian" has no desire to live in peace with their neighbors. They only want to attack, invade, destroy & conquer.
The only peace they will ever know is the peace that comes when they are subjugated by civilized outsiders.
This is true for the "Palestinians" in Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon and the West Bank.
They are an uncivilized, violent people who will only experience peace when it is forced upon them by others.

The 2 state solution is a fool's dream. Uncivilized people can never have a stable state. The "Palestinians" have proven this to be true since the 1990s. Every attempt at self governance has failed. They have refused every peace offering. They have never given up on terrorism and have always embraced demonic atrocities.

Gen Z is the first generation where whites are not a super-majority... and with Gen Alpha whites are a super-minority.

When politicians spend more time and attention on helping Israel or Ukraine than they do on helping the white Americans who have spent generations building this country into the great nation it is today, you shouldn't be surprised to see anti-Americanism spike.

We are over taxed and have ZERO representation.

The idea diversity is our strength and immigration makes us stronger were always the biggest lies ever told to the American people.

Indians, Africans, and Hispanics who just got here 5 mins ago as economic refugees are never going to appreciate American culture and history as much as the people who created it.

And the people who created America have one major political party, Democrats, who relentless attack and want to exterminate us and the other, Republicans, work to advance the interest of a foreign nation, Israel, over America.

I think this is spot on. I have mixed feelings on these topics, but at zero point has Russia and Iran been the good guys. I hope our "allies" win and defeat, and am open to helping under reasonable circumstances.

I think the conflict for me anyway comes first from the fact that all these allied nations for DECADES have their freedom bought and paid for by the American taxpayer. And that when asked to pay their fair share, they lied to us in the past, and they bad mouth us.in the current. The second part is that most of the Western countries are actively pursuing progressive tyranny over their people, and they absolutely want the same for the US. They want a global government so they can further plunder you, me, and the rest of our citizenry. The global world order is absolutely the worst things for Americans, because it will mean that we are long term poorer and "controlled" than we are even today.

" President Donald Trump is considering a $30 billion plan to help Iran develop a civilian nuclear program as an incentive to return to full-fledged talks over a nuclear deal, CNN reported on Thursday, citing sources.

Washington and its Middle East partners have been holding secret negotiations with Tehran, even as Iran and Israel exchanged strikes earlier this month, four sources familiar with the matter told the network.

The US reportedly has not dropped its key demand that Iran agree to zero enrichment of uranium, which has been a red line for Tehran. To sweeten the deal, however, Washington is said to have floated several incentives.

These include an estimated $20-30 billion investment project in Iran's nuclear program for civilian energy purposes though the money would not come directly from the US, but rather from its Arab partners, the report claims.

Israel sought to kill Iran's Khamenei defense chief
Other incentives reportedly under consideration include easing some sanctions and allowing Iran access to approximately $6 billion in frozen funds currently held in foreign bank accounts,"

If this is accurate, this will be the most brilliant exercise in US foreign policy since Reagan spanked Khadaffi for the Pan Am bombing without getting involved in a regime change war.

But Bibi, AIPAC, and the neocons are going to have steam coming out of their ears.
If Iran never trusted us to supply them with enriched uranium before, it seems unlikely that they're going to start now.
That's because we will only work with them on civilian uses. They wanted weapons grade, that time has passed.
They were ready to agree to something like a 5% cap, maybe less. Now they're refusing to negotiate at all. I'll be surprised if they don't weaponize at this point.
