Your choice for President already lost one election. He's less popular than he was 2 years ago, and his candidates just faced a resounding defeat in the midterms. I wish it was that simple. I don't know the answer, and the experts will be studying this election for a long time because there is nothing like it. Both parties are confounded. Nationally and in the key states, voters trusted GOP on all the key issues - economy, jobs, inflation, taxes, COVID, education (for the first time in decades), immigration, and crime. The only exceptions were abortion and "democracy", but at surprisingly low margins, and they were well down the list of key issues. Incumbents prevailed. GOP got closer to unseating Dems than Dems did unseating GOP, but close only counts in . . . .

I agree with you! 2016 was the last time I went to bed for an election and felt I had a good grasp on what was going to happen. I realize my viewpoints ARE NOT the majorities view anymore. I have been a pretty staunch Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush, Bush for the winners. And for the losers, Hell I liked Alan Keyes!

The old school Repubs and neocons have much more in common with MAGA than they do with the Dems, and there is room for populism and pugilism in the party. As much as they despise Trump, he has expanded the base, brought in conservative blue collar workers, and a Hispanic element to the voting block that really didn't exist before. If the MAGAs and Trump sycophants could let go of their absurd devotion to Trump, and embrace DeSantis, that is someone we could all get behind.

The Dems have absolutely nothing to offer the American people. They've gone completely woke to the point of absurdity. They have alienated moderates and blue dog democrats with their policies. They have literally done nothing right for the last year and a half. Every policy has been a disaster. There is no reason the next election should not be ripe for the taking, if they choose the right candidate (not Trump).
